Dragon Monarch System Chapter 1017 1017:- Charter of Noble Reinstatement
Previously on Dragon Monarch System...
Alen and Elena kept listening intently to Aditya's experiences on the Dying Isle Continent. The two girls alternated turns, summarizing every detail concisely. They recounted events from the very beginning right up to nearly all the incidents that brought them to this moment.
"I never imagined the organization's leader would be Leo." Alen released a heavy sigh. A wave of depression hit him for failing to see through that man's disguise. Had he discerned the truth earlier, perhaps this heavy load wouldn't have shifted onto his son.
"You've met him?" Aditya inquired, his face showing clear surprise.
"He's a renowned and upright merchant. About ten years ago, I crossed paths with him during a visit to the city where Leo resided."
"His excessively friendly demeanor struck me as strange, yet I brushed it off." As Emperor, Alen juggled countless concerns, leaving little room to dwell on a mere merchant. Their encounter faded from memory swiftly until Aditya brought him up once more.
Through it all, Alen and Elena grasped Aditya's present status and his core ambitions.
"The Throne of the Celestial Dragon Empire holds no appeal for me. Yet I possess compelling motives to strip Ren of his power." Alen sighed noticeably upon hearing this. Considering their mistreatment of Aditya and his self-achieved heights, it made sense for him to shun ruling yet another Empire.
Contemplating the Celestial Dragon Empire's future stirred a throbbing headache in Alen. He had stepped down from power. In his view, he lacked the qualities to serve as Emperor again. His past failures toward the Empire—and above all, his son—gnawed at him with immense guilt, barring him from reclaiming the throne or donning the Crown.
Instead, the Celestial Dragon Empire boasted a figure far superior— a hundredfold more adept—to guide it. Aditya had demonstrated his prowess in steering an empire toward greatness. He stood as the ideal choice, capable of ushering in an era of unparalleled prosperity.
However, Aditya showed zero desire for the Celestial Dragon Empire's throne. Ren bore responsibility for the chaos, ensuring he wouldn't retain the Emperorship post-resolution. His life hung in precarious balance. Though Alen had nurtured and cherished Ren as his own, he harbored no intent to rescue him.
'A man must pay for his crimes. Only death can absolve the sins of your deeds.'
'I pray Aditya won't reject the Throne when the moment arrives.'
"My son, no lawful path exists to contest Ren for the Throne. Legally, the sole option involves over 50% of the Empire's Dukes challenging and reversing your exile order."
"Challenging Ren means battling him and his forces head-on."
"How does one go about overturning my exile?" Aditya questioned.
"From what I recall, not everyone welcomed Ren's ascension to Emperor while you held the Crown Prince title. Powerful calls echoed within the Empire to restore you, and years later, crown you as ruler." This revelation stunned Aditya. He hadn't anticipated Dukes still championing his cause.
"You remain largely unaware of the Celestial Dragon Empire's internal politics." Elena caressed his head, offering a warm smile.
'I once did that for Clara. Now I'm receiving the same treatment as her.' Still, Aditya couldn't deny the comforting sensation.
"To reverse your exile, secure backing from over 50% of the Dukes. With a majority on your side, they'll unite to sign the Charter of Noble Reinstatement."
"This signed document goes straight to the Emperor. By Empire law, it carries binding force. Even if he resists, he must adhere to protocol and lift your exile."
"Crucially, majority Duke support extends beyond their endorsement. It rallies all subordinate noble houses to your banner as well."
"Thus, should the Emperor move against you—be it arrest or troops—you won't face it solo. Duke armies will bolster your stand. In civil war, you'd have allies aplenty."
"Alfred must have informed you: Celestial Dragon Empire politics split into three main factions. Some houses pledge total loyalty to the Throne. They swiftly backed Ren and reap rewards. Expect no aid from them—they're the Throne's faithful hounds."
Aditya arched an eyebrow at this. 'Are you certain it's wise to label them hounds, given their service to you as Emperor?'
Elena and Athena shared a quiet glance.
Ultimately, Elena sighed softly.
"Others feign allegiance to Ren to dodge repercussions. Your return could sway many to your side. Yet they'll weigh if you merit their faith—you represent a gamble to them." Mateo's house exemplified this: his father publicly backed the Emperor, while his son secretly undermined him.
"The second group despises Ren outright. Several reached out to me when I named him Emperor. Anticipate swift support from them. Risk remains, though—if they deem you unworthy, they'll sit it out."
"Finally, the third and smallest faction numbers 21 houses, led unofficially by the House of Harrington."
Alen gazed at his wife with affectionate warmth. "Your mother hails from the House of Harrington." Elena wore a faint smile. Meeting Aditya's eyes, she nodded with maternal tenderness.
"Their loyalty will endure unto death." The House of Harrington always led the pack in every crisis. The Harrington Duke fostered unbreakable bonds with the Royal Family.
"Got it! Anything else I should note?" Aditya had gleaned faction basics from Alfred and his intel. Yet his father's insights delved deeper into the Empire's political web.
"One more group lies outside standard Celestial Dragon Empire politics, but proves vital. Win even a handful, and most Dukes will rally to you."
"What group?" Aditya puzzled, as Alfred hadn't mentioned it.
"The Dragon Mountain Range—a sanctuary where the Empire's mightiest cultivators from noble houses and past Emperors rest or cultivate."
"Your Majesty, that realm is perilously hazardous. Please don't urge His Highness there." Alfred swiftly interjected, knowing outreach there rarely succeeded—hence his silence on it.
Alen lifted his palm toward Alfred, eyes fixed on Aditya, instantly hushing the old butler.
"Aditya, treat this as your final resort. If compelled, seek your Grandfather."
"He lives?" Surprise colored his voice.
"Naturally, you fool!" Alen laughed at Aditya's shock.
"He reigned over the Empire for nearly 10,000 years. Upon my coming of age and marriage, he passed the reins to me and withdrew. Had your grandmother lived, he might have lingered. Her absence left him isolated. Even so, he'd appear secretly every few decades."
