Upon Sister Lin stepping into the modest motel, the young female attendant on duty swiftly rose to her feet and inquired politely, "Big sister, who are you looking for?"

Sister Lin flashed a bright smile and responded, "Young lady, I'm looking for Shen Wenru and Li Xiuxia staying in room 202. I'm a relative from their family."

The female attendant questioned her, "Do you have your ID with you?"

Sister Lin had dashed out in haste without her ID, so she managed only a sheepish grin and pleaded, "Look, young lady, I rushed out so quickly that I forgot to bring my ID. Could you make an exception and let me go up to see them?"

Hearing Sister Lin lacked an ID, the attendant's face turned serious as she declared, "I'm sorry, but that won't work. Without ID registration, I can't take responsibility if something happens."

Sister Lin hastily explained, "Don't ask whose child it is. This child has had a hard life. As soon as she was born, she was despised by her family because she was born with an extra eye on her forehead. The family said they wanted to kill her. I couldn't bear it, so I brought her to you. If you don't want her, then I'll have to abandon her outside, and her fate will be left to the heavens."

At these words, Shen Wenru and Li Xiuxia exchanged hesitant glances.

After a brief pause, Shen Wenru asked Sister Lin, "Where is the child? Let us see her!"

Sister Lin discreetly peeled back the cloth corner from the basket, unveiling the tiny infant inside.

No sooner had they entered the village than villagers swarmed them with greetings.

"Wenru, you're back?"

"Oh my, whose child are you holding? Don't tell me you two picked her up while you were out?"

Good-natured Shen Wenru smiled at the villagers' jabs and announced, "This child, she's ours now. From now on, she'll be our biological daughter. We've given her a lovely name, Shen Tianxing, which means the stars in the sky."
