Max returned to the Black Dragon Clan as the champion of the Cosmic Ascension Conference. He was met with overwhelming cheers and a grand celebration from the entire clan, filling the main square with banners, fireworks, and roaring disciples. Even the elders and Lady Virelia showed immense pride in his perfect record. Though Max acknowledged his victory was a significant step, he remained focused on his ultimate goals: rescuing his parents and dealing with those responsible for past betrayals. The clan's joyous celebration lasted for a full day and night, with Max being hailed as a future overlord before things finally began to settle.

The meeting wasn't open to ordinary disciples, but word got around fast anyway.

The thirty-six halls of the Black Dragon Clan sat among the highest seats of power, just below the true ruling elders and the patriarch's own authority. Each hall controlled its own resources, disciples, territories, experts, and duties.

A hall master wasn't just an elder with a fancy title. A hall master was someone whose voice could shape the direction of the whole clan.

And now, Lady Virelia had been named one of the hall masters of the thirty-six halls.

When the news got out, nobody stayed surprised for long. Some elders had once questioned her choice to bring Max in from the mortal realm.

Some had wondered why a woman of her standing would personally get involved with a junior who, back then, had no deep foundation in the Divine Realm and no ancient divine background to match the native geniuses of the top forces. But all those doubts didn't matter anymore.

Lady Virelia had chosen a mortal. That mortal had entered the Divine Realm. That mortal had represented the Black Dragon Clan.

And that mortal had become the strongest genius of the entire Cosmic Ascension Conference. No political argument could stand up against that. No internal faction could deny that kind of achievement.

Inside the ancestral hall, Virelia stood calmly in front of several supreme elders, her silver eyes steady and unreadable. The old experts around her carried deep auras and ancient authority, but none of them looked at her with the faint dismissiveness some might have shown in the past.

The champion's spotlight hadn't landed only on Max. It had also landed on the person who found him, chose him, protected him, and brought him into the Black Dragon Clan.

One old supreme elder looked at her and spoke slowly.

"Virelia, your judgment has brought great fortune to the clan. Max Morgan's victory has changed how the Divine Realm sees us, and it's also given the younger generation of the Black Dragon Clan someone to look up to. Because of this achievement, and because of your past merits, the council has agreed to name you the new Hall Master of the 33rd hall."

The hall went quiet.

The 33rd hall wasn't a weak one. It controlled several important cultivation grounds, a lot of elite disciples, and a big share of resources tied to combat training and bloodline tempering.

For Virelia to be named its hall master right after Max's victory showed just how much weight the clan had put on her contribution.

Lady Virelia bowed slightly. "I accept."

Her voice was calm, but the elders could tell her standing in the clan had shifted completely. From that day on, no one would think of her as just Max's master or the woman who picked him up from the mortal realm.

She was now Lady Virelia, Hall Master of the Ninth Dragon Hall, one of the thirty-six hall masters of the Black Dragon Clan.

By the time the news spread through the clan, plenty of disciples got worked up all over again.

"Lady Virelia became a hall master!"

"Of course she did. She's the one who picked Senior Brother Max out of the mortal realm."

"Can you imagine? A mortal genius she raised up ended up becoming champion of the Cosmic Ascension Conference."

"That alone is enough to shake the whole clan."

"That means Senior Brother Max has even stronger backing inside the clan now too."

The talk kept going for hours.

Max heard the news later that same day. He wasn't surprised. If anything, he felt she deserved it.

Lady Virelia had backed him back when his name carried no real weight in the Divine Realm, and even though Max had never needed anyone to carry him, he understood well enough that her decision had given him a place inside the Black Dragon Clan and a platform to rise faster.

The next day, the excitement in the clan had cooled down a bit, though things were still lively.

Max sat in a quiet spot inside one of the buildings in the Dimension of Genesis. The pavilion looked out over a lake covered in dark-gold lotus flowers, with thin streaks of spiritual mist drifting above the water.

Alice sat across from him, her eyes bright with curiosity, while Lenavira leaned against the side railing with a calm, faintly amused look.

Alice had been peppering him with questions for almost half an hour.

"So when Revona used that Null Origin Tide and stripped away all your power, what did it actually feel like?" she asked, leaning forward with both hands on the stone table. "Everyone outside could only see the black flames die down and then that star-like light show up around you. I still don't get how you got out of that."

Lenavira looked at him too. "I'm curious about that as well. That woman beat both Ervin and Damian with the same attack. Even after watching it a few times, I still can't tell how you broke through it."

Max lifted the tea cup in front of him and took a slow sip.

"It felt awful," he said honestly.

Alice blinked. "That's it?"

Max smiled faintly. "What else do you want me to say?"

"I want details," Alice said right away. "You became champion of the Cosmic Ascension Conference, beat Revona, Damian, and Ervin, and now you're sitting here drinking tea like nothing happened. At least describe it properly."

Lenavira smiled lightly. "She's got a point. You're way too calm for someone who just shook the whole Divine Realm."

Max set the cup down.

"I'm calm because the conference is over. If I keep getting worked up after every win, I'll wear myself out before the real problems show up."

Alice's expression shifted slightly. "Real problems?"

Max didn't answer right away. His gaze drifted across the lake.

The Cosmic Ascension Conference had ended, but his enemies hadn't gone anywhere. Aurelian still held the stolen source of his Heavenly Luminance Divine Bloodline. His parents were still locked away in the Celestial Thorn Abyss.

The forces behind his family's betrayal were still standing. And now that he was champion, even more eyes would be on him than before.

Lenavira noticed the shift in his expression and let it go.

Alice also went quiet for a moment before switching the subject.

"Still, you really did beat everyone. Orion, Kaiden, Revona, Damian, Ervin. Even the people who doubted you before can't say a thing now."

Max smiled faintly. "They can still say plenty of things."

Alice shook her head. "They can, but nobody's going to believe them."

Just as she said that, the air above the courtyard shifted.

A deep bell sound rang out across the inner district of the Black Dragon Clan. Once. Then twice. Then a third time. It even reached the Dimension of Genesis, since Max had made sure that anything happening outside could be heard or seen from inside his dimensions.

The bell wasn't a war alarm, but it carried a solemn weight that made Alice's and Lenavira's expressions change at the same time. Max turned his gaze toward the sky as well.
