Max clashes with Ervin, pushing past Ervin's abyssal defenses with overwhelming physical strength, lightning strikes, and sword techniques. As Ervin opens the Second Depth Gate, Max counters Ervin's 'Sunken World' attack by severing its connection and pushing through the abyssal force. Ervin attempts to drag Max into a whirlpool with 'Return To Depth', but Max prepares to strike.

The sword pierced into the edge of the whirlpool, and the invisible connection pulling Max toward the Second Depth was cut. The whirlpool collapsed.

Ervin used that brief moment to retreat, but Max followed immediately with the Vein of Speed. His movement was too fast, too direct, and too violent.

In close combat, Ervin's spear was profound, and his technique carried incredible depth, but Max's body had become too overwhelming with the four Divine Veins activated.

Every sword strike carried the strength of a body refiner. Every step crossed distance like lightning. Every collision threatened to tear Ervin's guard apart.

"Abyss Spear Art, Gate Shadow Thrust."

Ervin's spear stabbed from the shadow of the broken gate.

Max turned Dragonheart sideways and blocked.

Clang!

"Divine King Punishment, Judgment Chain."

Seven-colored lightning wrapped around the spear shaft. Ervin released abyssal depth to swallow it, but the Emotion Severing Path on Dragonheart flashed again and cut at the rhythm of his release.

The chain of lightning tightened for a fraction of a breath, and that was enough for Max to step in and slam his shoulder into Ervin's chest.

Boom!

Ervin was blasted backward, and blood spilled from his mouth. The Gate of the Second Depth shook behind him.

The Divine Realm was boiling now.

"Max is suppressing him!"

"Ervin opened the Second Depth, but Max still has the upper hand!"

"His body is too strong, and those two Pseudo Cosmic Paths are attacking different weaknesses!"

"Divine King Punishment breaks the outer abyss, while Emotion Severing Path cuts the hidden connections!"

"How is Ervin supposed to defend against all that while also dealing with Max's physical strength?"

Ervin landed near the edge of the arena, one knee bending slightly before he forced himself back up. The black spear in his hand trembled. His eyes remained calm, but his breathing had grown heavier.

Max stood at the center of the battlefield, Dragonheart in hand, seven-colored lightning roaring above him, Emotion Severing Path spreading from his sword, and the four Divine Veins blazing through his body like divine channels of ancient power.

At that moment, even the top geniuses had to admit one thing. In direct clashes, Max had the upper hand. Ervin's abyss was deep, his spear was terrifying, and his Pseudo Cosmic Path was worthy of standing near the top of the entire conference.

But Max's physical strength, supported by the four Divine Veins and reinforced by the simultaneous pressure of Divine King Punishment and Emotion Severing Path, was too much for him to handle in straightforward exchanges.

Ervin slowly exhaled. Then he smiled faintly despite the blood on his lips.

"As expected, I cannot beat you head-on."

Max looked at him calmly. "You knew that already."

"I did."

The broken gate behind Ervin became darker, and the black sea beneath him sank again. His smile faded, and his eyes became abyssal.

"That is why I will have to use something else."

The moment Ervin said those words, the black sea beneath him stopped moving. It did not calm. It became dead still. The entire Abyssal Origin Descent behind him changed in a way that made even the top geniuses on the pillars feel their expressions tighten.

The Gate of the Second Depth, which had already opened earlier, trembled as though something behind it was pushing against its ancient frame.

The unreadable symbols carved across the broken gate began bleeding black light, and every drop that fell into the sea below caused the stage to sink with a dull, oppressive rumble.

Max watched quietly.

Ervin lifted his spear with both hands. His fingers were already bleeding. The previous forbidden art he had used against Revona had nearly broken his body, but this one was different. The aura coming from him did not merely strain his flesh. It began destroying him from within the moment he summoned it.

Cracks appeared across his arms first, thin and dark, as if abyssal pressure had carved itself beneath his skin. Then those cracks spread to his shoulders, chest, neck, and face. Blood flowed from them, but it did not fall normally.

The blood sank into the air, swallowed by the abyss before it could touch the ground.

The Divine Realm became silent. Everyone could see what was happening. Ervin was burning his body as the price for one final spear.

Revona's pale eyes narrowed from her pillar. She had forced Ervin into a similar state before, but even she could tell that this technique was beyond what he had used against her.

Damian Voss silently gripped the hilt of his sword, his gaze becoming solemn.

Orion Starfall's smile disappeared for the first time in a long while, while Rakan Thorne's battle-crazed expression became heavy. Kaiden Voidmere stared at the broken gate with deep eyes, as if he could feel the space around the arena becoming unable to escape the pull of the abyss.

Angelina Valerius looked down at the battlefield, her eyes calm but sharper than before. The golden laws of the Eternal Hourglass began brightening even before Ervin attacked.

Ervin coughed blood. His knees bent slightly, but he did not fall. Instead, he smiled. It was not a wry smile this time. It was a clear one.

"Max Morgan," he said, his voice hoarse but steady, "this attack will destroy my body if the Eternal Hourglass does not repair me afterward."

Max looked at him silently.

Ervin raised his spear higher. "But if I do not use it here, then there is no meaning in standing in this final battle."

The broken gate behind him opened again, not wider but deeper. A third layer did not appear as a visible gate but as a dark absence beyond the second gate, a depth so heavy that even the black sea seemed afraid to fall into it.

The moment that depth appeared, Ervin's body cracked further. His bones groaned, and his blood vessels burst beneath his skin. The abyssal pressure around him became so dense that the arena floor beneath his feet began to cave downward, even though the Eternal Hourglass laws were continuously repairing it.

"Abyssal Origin Descent."

Ervin's spear shook.

"Forbidden Final Depth Art."

The black sea rose behind him, then collapsed into the spear. The broken gate bent inward, and the darkness beyond it poured into the spear tip like the last shadow of a dying world.

"Body-Burying Abyss Spear."

The moment the name fell, Ervin's aura disappeared from the surface of the battlefield. Then it returned from below. Not from below the stage, but from below existence. The spear in his hand no longer looked like a weapon. It looked like a black line connected to a place where all worlds sank after their end.

The attack had not yet been released, but everyone could feel that if it landed, it would not simply pierce flesh or destroy defense. It would bury the body, the power, the movement, the will, and the battlefield itself under a depth that Ervin's current body was never meant to carry.

His skin split further. Blood poured from him, and even his black spear began to crack. Yet his eyes remained fixed on Max.

"This is my strongest attack."
