"Sword Sovereign Heaven."
The name alone made the arena feel colder. Rakan's eyes widened, but he did not stop.
Damian's voice stayed calm.
"Sword Sovereign Heaven, First Edict."
The enormous sovereign sword behind him trembled.
"All force beneath the sword shall be judged."
Then Damian slashed. The silver-white sword line descended and met Tyrant Heaven Shatter head-on, and for a moment the two attacks held. Rakan roared and poured every ounce of power from his three broken limits into the punch.
The battlefield spirits behind him shook wildly as they strained to push through the sovereign sword line.
Then Damian's sword brightened, and the Sword Sovereign Heaven pressed down. The War God Palace's secret art cracked, the battlefield spirits split apart, and Tyrant Heaven Shatter broke. The silver-white line continued forward and struck Rakan directly.
Boom!
Rakan was blasted backward across the stage. His huge body crashed and rolled, carving a long trench into the arena floor before finally coming to rest near the very edge of the battlefield. Blood ran from his mouth and chest while the battle aura around him flickered violently.
The three broken limits of his War God Body began collapsing one after another.
The War God Palace disciples fell silent.
Rakan forced himself to rise. He planted one knee into the shattered stage and pushed himself halfway up while breathing heavily. His fists still trembled with unwillingness, and the red-gold aura around him struggled to flare one last time.
Damian appeared before him, and his sword stopped at Rakan's throat. The entire arena went silent.
Rakan looked at the blade, and then up at Damian. For a few breaths he said nothing. Then, slowly, he laughed. The sound was hoarse and pained, yet entirely sincere.
"So this is the sword of the Sword God Palace."
Damian's expression remained calm.
Rakan shook his head lightly. "I gave it all."
"I know," Damian replied.
Rakan exhaled slowly. The unwillingness drained from his eyes and was replaced by the clear acceptance of a warrior who had lost only after emptying himself completely.
"Then I lose."
Angelina Valerius announced the result at once.
"Winner, Damian Voss."
The giant screen above the arena changed.
[Battle Record Updated.]
[Damian Voss]
[Total Battles Fought: 22]
[Total Wins: 22]
[Battle Record Updated.]
[Rakan Thorne]
[Total Battles Fought: 22]
[Total Wins: 19]
The Divine Realm erupted once more. Damian Voss remained undefeated. Rakan Thorne had given everything, drawing on all three broken limits of the War God Body and even the War God Palace's secret art, and Damian's sword had still cut him down in the end.
At the Sword God Palace, countless disciples cheered with pride blazing across their faces. At the War God Palace, the disciples were disappointed, yet not one of them looked ashamed of Rakan.
Their first Warlord had not lost through weakness. He had lost after fighting at his absolute peak against one of the strongest swordsmen the Divine Realm had produced in generations.
Saint Reiner, still hidden in the shadows of the War God Palace, watched in silence. A faint glint crossed his eyes before he murmured to himself, "Damian is indeed terrifying, but the one I truly want to watch is still that boy."
On the pillars of the Eternal Hourglass, the other top geniuses watched quietly, and Max's eyes lingered on Damian a moment longer than the rest. That sword was truly dangerous, and dangerous in a way that demanded respect.
Rakan had been anything but weak. Among the body cultivators of the younger generation, he stood absolutely among the very best. Yet Damian had cut through all of it and won cleanly in the end.
The battle had ended, but the pressure gathering at the top of the rankings had only grown heavier.
Rakan returned to his pillar with his wounds still knitting under the laws of the Eternal Hourglass, though his eyes stayed bright. He had lost, yet no one could claim he had fallen cheaply.
He had opened all three limits of the War God Body, unleashed the War God Palace's secret art, and driven his body to its edge before Damian's Sword Sovereign Heaven finally cut through him.
It was a defeat, but it was equally proof of why Rakan Thorne was called the first Warlord.
Damian returned to his pillar in silence. His sword had been sheathed again, his expression calm and his aura restrained. Yet after that battle, everyone sensed his danger even more keenly.
He had remained undefeated through every match, and each time someone forced him to reveal a little more, his sword grew more frightening.
The Sword God Palace disciples across the Divine Realm were still cheering, while many great forces had fallen into solemn discussion about just how far his Sword Sovereign Heaven could truly reach.
Angelina Valerius waited until the stage restored itself. The shattered ground mended, the sword marks faded, and the bloodstains vanished beneath the golden flow of the Eternal Hourglass laws. Then she raised one hand again.
"The next battle will now be selected."
The giant screen above the arena began spinning, and the names of the remaining participants flashed rapidly through the air. At this point, nearly every battle among the top names carried real importance.
Some participants had already lost their chance to reach the very summit, but pride, ranking, and future reputation still hung in the balance.
A victory over a major genius could reshape how the entire Divine Realm regarded them, while a crushing defeat could damage even an ancient faction's prestige.
The light slowed, and one name appeared.
[Orion]
The arena stirred immediately.
Orion was still seated on his pillar, recovering from his previous brutal battles.
He had lost to Revona after forcing her to use Return To Nothing, and then lost to Ervin after pressing the Abyssal Origin Descent hard enough to make the broken gate open wider. His record was no longer perfect, yet no one dared underestimate him.
If anything, his defeats had painted his reputation in sharper colors.
Orion was not someone who lost through weakness. He was someone who lost only after burning everything he had against monsters of the highest tier.
Across the Divine Realm, the Nine Star Court disciples snapped to attention at once.
"Senior Brother Orion again!"
"Who is his opponent?"
"He has already fought Revona and Ervin. Please do not let it be another terrible matchup."
"He still has the Nine Star Sovereign Body. Even injured, he can fight anyone."
On his pillar, Orion looked up at his own name and sighed with a helpless smile. "Again? The Eternal Hourglass really refuses to let me rest."
Rakan, still recovering nearby, laughed. "Maybe it likes watching you suffer."
Orion turned his head and smiled at him. "Coming from someone who just got cut down by Damian, that sounds strangely comforting."
Rakan grinned. "At least I lost after punching everything I could reach."
Orion shrugged lightly. "Then I shall try to punch something bright this time, depending on who appears."
As though answering his words, the second name slowed. The spinning light passed over Max Morgan, then over Damian Voss, then over Revona, and then over Ervin. Then it stopped.
