A fearsome battle between Damian Voss and Rakan Thorne unfolds, showcasing immense power from both the Sword God Palace and War God Palace. Meanwhile, Max observes, his attention drawn to the potential connection between Damian and the Sword God Legacy, and the implications for his own quest.

The participant shrugged. "From what I heard, they found a temporary legacy mark nearby. Damian wanted it because it was connected to sword intent, but Rakan said any mark appearing near a battlefield belongs to the one strong enough to take it. They argued, then they fought."

Max nodded slightly.

The reason was simple enough.

In the Cosmic Ascension Conference, many battles did not need deep hatred. Sometimes, one treasure, one opportunity, one mark, or even one sentence was enough.

The participant then lowered his voice and added, "But honestly, I think everyone here is waiting for something else."

Max looked at him. "What?"

The participant smiled. "For one of them to win and get weakened. If Damian or Rakan suffers serious injuries, some people here might not be able to control their greed."

Max glanced around the tower.

The spectators still looked relaxed, but after hearing that sentence, he noticed the hidden tension beneath their excitement. Several people were not merely watching. They were measuring.

Some watched Damian's breathing. Some watched Rakan's injuries. Some watched the battlefield below to see where the legacy mark might be hidden. The crowd looked casual, but many of them were waiting for an opportunity to strike.

Max smiled faintly.

So this tower was not only a viewing stage.

It was also a gathering place for vultures.

The battle in the sky continued to intensify.

Damian's sword intent grew sharper.

Rakan's war aura became heavier.

The crowd's excitement rose with every clash.

And Max stood among them quietly, watching the two possible inheritors of the Sword God and War God legacies collide beneath the approaching end of the first round.

Just as Max was watching Damian Voss and Rakan Thorne clash in the distant sky, someone suddenly called out to him from behind.

"Is that you, Max?"

Max turned his head and looked behind him.

A woman was standing a short distance away, staring at him with surprise and uncertainty. She looked somewhat different from the last time he had seen her. Her aura was sharper, her clothes were slightly damaged, and there were faint signs of battle on her body, but Max recognized her almost immediately.

"Rose?" Max asked, clearly surprised.

It was Rose, Lucia's friend from Orion, the same woman who had guided them when they first arrived there.

"It is really you!" Rose smiled and came closer, her eyes brightening with recognition. "Your white hair and your back were too familiar to me, so I had to ask. I thought I might be mistaken at first, but it really is you."

Max looked at her for a moment, then smiled faintly.

"I am surprised you survived this far into the first round," he said. "If I am not wrong, Lucia and the other geniuses from the Black Dragon Clan should have all been eliminated by now."

Rose did not look offended. Instead, she smiled with a bit of helplessness.

"That is true. Most of them were eliminated quite early, and Lucia lasted longer than some of them, but she still could not remain until this stage. As for me, I did not survive because I was stronger than them. I survived because I avoided most of the monsters and chose my fights carefully."

Max nodded slightly.

That made sense. In a place like the Cosmic Ascension Conference, raw strength was important, but survival instincts were just as necessary. Someone who knew when to fight, when to retreat, and when to hide could sometimes last longer than someone stronger but more arrogant.

Rose looked at Max deeply.

"You are surprising as well," she said. "When you told me last time that you would shine in the Cosmic Ascension Conference, I did not think much about it. I thought you were confident, maybe a little reckless, but I never expected this."

Max raised an eyebrow. "This?"

Rose smiled and pointed toward the crowd around them.

"Your name is everywhere now. Max Morgan, the one carrying Dragonheart. Max Morgan, the one who killed Sword God Palace disciples. Max Morgan, the one who defeated Selene Vaeloria and cut down Morgana Starveil. Some people even say you are already standing on the same level as Damian Voss and Rakan Thorne."

Max glanced toward the distant battle again.

Damian's sword light and Rakan's war aura collided once more, and the tower shook faintly under the spreading shockwave.

Then Max smiled and shrugged.

"I told you I would make a name for myself."

Rose looked at him for a moment, then shook her head with a faint laugh.

"You really did."

Max's gaze returned to her.

"How about now?" he asked. "Are you willing to join my force?"

Rose's smile slowly faded, and her expression became much more solemn.

"That will depend on whether you can help me with something."

Max was not surprised by the answer.

Rose had never seemed like someone without secrets. Even back on Orion, he had already felt that her situation was not simple. She carried herself like someone who had seen the Divine Realm, understood its forces, and yet chose to live on a dangerous planet where death could arrive any night. That was not normal.

"Sure," Max said with a nod. "After the tournament ends, I will find you."

Rose looked at him seriously. "You are not even going to ask what it is?"

Max smiled faintly. "You would not mention it here if it was something simple."

Rose was silent for a moment before a small smile returned to her face.

"That is true."

Max looked back at the battlefield, but his mind briefly moved to what he knew about Rose. From what he remembered, her family was as strong as the first-rate forces in the Divine Realm.

Someone with that kind of background should have been living in a sacred land, protected by powerful experts, surrounded by resources that ordinary geniuses could only dream of. Yet Rose had chosen to stay on Orion, a planet where one could not even guarantee if they would wake up alive after night fell.

That contradiction had always been strange.

Now that she had asked for help, Max was even more certain that there was a deeper reason behind it.

'Just what happened to make her live on Orion instead of staying with her own family?' Max wondered.

Rose noticed his silence and seemed to understand part of what he was thinking.

"My situation is complicated," she said softly.

Max nodded. "Most worthwhile things are."

Rose looked at him, then smiled faintly. "You really have changed, Max."

"No," Max said calmly. "I just stopped hiding how far I intend to go."

Rose was about to reply, but another deafening explosion erupted in the distance.

Everyone on the tower turned their attention back to the sky.

Damian Voss had finally released a much stronger sword intent. His sword light gathered into a massive silver-white sword image behind him, and the sky itself seemed to be split by its edge.

Opposite him, Rakan Thorne's war aura surged like a burning battlefield, and a golden-red giant formed behind his body, raising both fists as if preparing to crush the heavens.

The crowd became even louder.

"They are going all out now!"

"This might decide the battle."

"Damian's Sword God inheritance is showing itself."

"Rakan's war intent is not weaker. Look at that battle avatar."
