Rose guided the group through Orion's unstable ruins, battling twisted beasts that dissolved into energy fragments upon defeat. They skirted breathing earth and space-distorting glowing shards, heeding her strict warnings. Fleeing an ancient, oppressive presence that birthed a fleeting black hole, they endured warped time and space, finally arriving at the crack's volatile vicinity.

"We are nearing the region where the void crack emerged," Rose announced, easing her speed a bit, her voice laced with a subdued gravity that swiftly captured everyone's focus. "Due to this, spatial laws in the vicinity are shaky. Stay on guard."

Her caution carried no exaggeration.

Max sensed it already, even without her alert.

The atmosphere surrounding them had lost its normalcy. It lacked the prior heaviness or pressure. Rather, it seemed erratic, like space struggled to hold a stable form.

Faint warps appeared in all directions, minor ripples making the environment look briefly offset. These weren't severe enough for total disorientation, yet they stirred deep unease.

Rose pressed on undeterred, with both teams trailing her tightly, their actions growing even more precise.

Curiously, upon entering this zone, the path turned eerily silent.

No beasts lurked.

No abrupt interruptions.

No odd events seeking to entice or ensnare them.

The hush felt profoundly unnatural.

As though all life on Orion shunned this spot instinctively, reluctant to near what awaited beyond.

Minutes passed in this haunting stillness, senses razor-sharp amid no pressing threats. Each footfall deliberate, each inhale guarded, like nearing a force worthy of total reverence.

At last, the terrain parted.

And there it was.

A colossal edifice of meshed hexagonal plates loomed ahead, each emitting a soft, regulated glow.

These hex force shields stretched out in tiers, forming a containment that sealed off a designated space area. Towering vast and expansive, it overshadowed all nearby.

Max's eyes moved beyond the shields.

Then he spotted it.

The rift.

No mere slit.

A split in space proper.

Inside the hex shields' perimeter, reality's weave looked shattered, as if violently torn open by some power.

The rift pulsed erratically, borders wobbly, forever wavering twixt being and warp. Inside swirled an abyssal dark, beyond mere shadow—something profound that devoured all nearby.

A subtle tug radiated from it, too weak to yank them inside, yet insistent enough to assert itself.

"We have arrived," Rose declared, a subtle smile gracing her lips as she motioned to the vista ahead.

"As you can see," she went on, "the void crack is now held steady by those hexagonal force fields."

Her voice gained a touch more gravity as she elaborated. "Its initial emergence sparked massive alarm. Fears arose it would expand over Orion, ripping through the planet's fragile framework. Worries also swirled about entities bursting forth."

Max's eyes tightened faintly.

Such a risk seemed all too plausible.

Rose dipped her head as if affirming his notion. "To avert that, multiple powers united to erect these force fields encircling the crack. They aim to confine it, steady it, and halt any growth."

Her stare rested on the rift briefly.

"Right now, it is under control."

After a short pause, she appended, "At least, for now."

"Does this crack really link to the mortal realm?" Max inquired, gaze locked on the volatile split amid the tiered force fields, pivoting mildly to Rose.

Rose affirmed with a firm nod. "Yes," she replied. "Once the crack surfaced and forces secured it, various teams dispatched explorers within. They sought to verify its destination prior to more steps."

Her eyes flicked to the rift as she proceeded. "From reports, entrants confirmed it connects to the mortal realms."

Max's gaze sharpened as he took in her statement.

Rose continued, "Rumors persist it's no mere chance gash. Many think it ties to the ascension tunnel—the standard link from mortal realms to the Divine Realm. Thus, it manifested orderly instead of instant ruin."

Max inclined his head gradually, mind delving into the ramifications. If accurate, this wasn't mere mishap. It marked sabotage to a core inter-realm bond.

"Any recent progress?" Max questioned evenly.

Rose shook her head firmly. "I do not know," she answered with full honesty. "Even should a fresh event unfold, word of it might not reach me. Details like those remain firmly in the grasp of the powers overseeing this domain."

She shifted her gaze from the crack, fixing it on Lucia and the rest. "My duties wrap up right here," she stated. "I'll linger in the vicinity. Reach out if you need an exit."

Ignoring any reply, she strode toward a different part of the zone, where other guides chatted with various parties. Her form soon merged into the bustle around the force fields.

Silence hung briefly after she left.

Lucia then faced Max.

"What's your next move?" she inquired.

Max held back his words at first. His eyes stayed locked on the crack, brain racing through options.

Moments later, he voiced it. "Am I able to step inside?"

A slight frown creased Lucia's brow as she traced his stare. "I do not know," she responded. "Check the surroundings."

Max turned his focus elsewhere.

Crowds thronged the force fields, with cultivators from diverse factions positioned at assorted ranges, watching intently, chatting animatedly, or simply biding time in spots.

The enormous hexagonal shields stretched wide, encasing the crack securely yet permitting hordes to witness it from afar.

Due to the vast size and dense throng, grasping events near the heart proved utterly impossible.

Unfettered entry appeared denied to everyone present.

"From this spot, we can't even glimpse it all distinctly," Lucia went on. "Restrictions must be enforced. Those who secured the crack won't permit casual approaches."

Max stayed quiet, his mind honing in sharply.

"Might Rose assist us?" he questioned soon after, eyeing Lucia.

With a soft sigh, Lucia shook her head. "I had hoped for that," she confessed. "Yet she departed, as you witnessed."

Her eyes flicked momentarily to Rose's path.

"She wouldn't depart so abruptly without plans to stay out of it entirely," Lucia noted. "No matter our scheme here, she intends zero meddling."
