Dimensional Keeper: All My Skills Are at Level 100 Chapter 1390 Useless Inheritances

Clan Heads Raven and Jeremy countered Max's demands by offering resources to elevate his cultivation to the Rebirth Realm's peak, contingent on him defeating their two candidates in upcoming battles and winning the Tri Clan Tournament a year hence to claim their clans' inheritance techniques. Failure in any battle would seal his sword permanently, while tournament victory would grant access to the exclusive Divine Essence Cultivation Pool for the top ten disciples. Max accepted the terms, and the arena filled with tension as Jonathan, the first challenger from the Heavenly Kirin Clan, stepped forward under Lady Virelia's oversight. The battle erupted instantly, with Max unleashing Extreme Speed and the Absolute Reaper inheritance to engulf Jonathan in raging black flames.

Right when Max prepared to ignite the explosion of the dark sphere, a sudden rush of energy exploded from its core. Jonathan broke through the black flames, his body bursting forth like a creature reborn in fire, and he soared toward Max with the savage might of a shadowy phoenix.

Dark flames wrapped around Jonathan's form, while phoenix wings sprouted from his back, emitting a heavy, suffocating presence as he bridged the gap and drove a fist directly toward Max.

Surprise narrowed Max's gaze. He hadn't expected Jonathan to escape the Absolute Reaper so effortlessly, much less launch an instant counterstrike. Yet, his response came quickly. Tapping into the Flame Tyrant Inheritance, intense flames roared from his right arm and solidified into a huge fiery glove as he thrust his punch ahead to clash directly with Jonathan's assault.

A booming blast reverberated through the arena from their colliding fists. To Max's shock, the force pushed him back, his frame skidding across the ground for five firm steps until he finally halted.

A sense of unease stirred. As Max regained his footing, his forehead creased in puzzlement. The powers from his flame inheritance seemed oddly feeble, much less potent than expected, leaving a deep discomfort gnawing at him.

The Absolute Reaper sphere had crumbled without resistance, and even the strike fueled by the Flame Tyrant Inheritance had been overpowered. This couldn't just be chance, though the cause eluded him for the moment.

What escaped Max's knowledge was that the three inheritances acquired in Obsidian Dragon City weren't meant to shine as top-tier arts in the Divine Realm. Tailored for the mortal realm, they held great might there but carried core restrictions against genuine Divine Realm prodigies.

Lucia had picked up those inheritances merely to expand her knowledge, prioritizing variety and insight over peak power, which guided her to excel in numerous arts suited for inferior realms.

In contrast, Jonathan stood as an eighth level Rebirth Realm prodigy, clearly wielding inheritance arts handed down by the Dark Phoenix Clan, ones forged expressly for the Divine Realm.

This core disparity made Max's flame inheritance arts feel stifled and lacking, forcing upon him the disturbing truth that his typical edges no longer sufficed in this fight.

High above, Lady Virelia observed the clash with a serene face, but her mind cut through clearly. She understood that without additional means beyond his displayed abilities, Max's loss loomed inevitable, since the divide between mortal realm arts and authentic Divine Realm inheritances couldn't be crossed by skill alone.

"I have never seen any disciple of the Black Dragon Palace use those inheritance techniques," Jonathan stated evenly, a subtle grin on his mouth as he regarded Max with steady assurance. "Either those techniques are inherently weak, or you must have learned them in the mortal worlds."

He halted for a second before going on, his voice shifting to a mildly superior edge. "Techniques from the mortal worlds are only suited for the mortal worlds. Once brought into the Divine Realm, their power becomes insignificant."

"I see," Max answered with a gradual nod, his face reflective instead of irked. "They are indeed from the mortal worlds." In that instant, it all clicked for him. The frailty he'd sensed before wasn't a trick or error, but an inherent flaw in those inheritance arts, never built for the Divine Realm.

Jonathan grinned once more, evidently pleased by Max's confession. "So tell me, do you have any other trump cards, or is this all you can do?" he inquired lightly. "Because what you have shown so far is far from enough to defeat me."

"You do not need to worry about that," Max responded with a steady grin, his assurance firm. "Just come at me."

"As you wish," Jonathan declared as his dark phoenix wings, made purely of black flames, extended broadly and beat with force. In a flash, he dashed at Max with incredible velocity, trailing lines of searing black fire. A spear of black flame took shape in his grasp, its handle ablaze with profound dark fires, while the tip shone with a foreboding crimson, unleashing a fearsome aura of ruin.

The instant he arrived at Max, Jonathan released his mightiest assault, intent on concluding the duel with one crushing move. "Dark Phoenix Destroyer!" he bellowed while plunging the spear ahead with full force, the surrounding air wailing from the assault's intensity.

Confronting the advancing strike, Max unleashed his Three Divine Body to maximum, and white vapor streamed from his frame as his presence exploded upward. Even before the crimson spear tip could reach him, a burst of piercing chill surged out abruptly.

Jonathan's whole body, spear included, froze in place right away, turning into a rigid ice sculpture caught mid-action.

Disbelief swept the onlookers. Clan Head Raven's eyes bulged in amazement as she fixed on the iced tableau. "First a lightning concept at the fifth level, then a flame concept at the fifth level, and now even an ice concept at the fifth level," she whispered, her wonder plain. "Just how many concepts has he mastered?"

Max knew full well that the black phoenix flames shielding Jonathan would let the ice hold him for just a handful of seconds at best, but that brief window proved ample.

With no delay, he balled his hand into a tight fist and summoned the brute strength of twelve hundred Draconic Essences, while also drawing some divine force from the Vein of Origin, the foremost of the Seven Divine Veins. The energy amassed in his limb with wild intensity, and Max hurled his punch forth with total resolve.

A massive boom resounded as the hit connected. Jonathan's iced form was flung back, and while hurtling through the sky, the frost around him cracked into myriad shards, flying apart from the raw power of the strike.

"I am not done yet!" Jonathan yelled as black flames burst from him again, flaring wildly and roughly outlining a dark phoenix. The fierce warmth from his blaze spiked the arena's heat dramatically, twisting the atmosphere.

He directed his sight down at Max on the floor beneath, and uttered with forced poise. "You are strong for a mortal, but this is—" His sentence broke off sharply as his eyes flared in warning, for Max's shape had disappeared from the arena.

"How could he vanish like that?" Jonathan wondered in alarm, and what chilled him worse was his total loss of Max's aura, as if the man had been wiped from reality.

"Take this!" A shout erupted suddenly from overhead behind him. Jonathan scarcely managed to twist his head before spotting Max, cloaked in raging red lightning, his fist already arcing down at his features.

Max had ignited both Heaven's Wraith and Extreme Speed from the Storm King's Inheritance simultaneously, elevating his velocity and punch force to a horrifying degree well beyond his prior display.

Yet another ear-shattering blast filled the arena as the fist smashed into Jonathan's face dead-on. His frame rocketed downward like a plummeting star, slamming hard into the surface below.

The arena's ground, built from tough, exotic stones, held firm without a mark, but Jonathan lay wrecked. He sprawled still on the earth, agony flooding his every limb as the devastating might of Max's closing punch rendered him wholly incapable of standing.
