Demonic Po*nstar System Chapter 758: Eclipse’s First Hunt
Previously on Demonic Po*nstar System...
Kaiden's greatsword thrust through the fractured armor plate on the beast's right shoulder, burying itself deep to hold him steady. The Gluttony field burst to life upon impact, surging stolen mana through his gauntlet into his veins—wild, metallic-flavored, and overwhelmingly vast. He planted his legs against the monster's backbone, wrenched the blade out, and slashed once more. Another plate shattered under the cutting edge. A third one cracked during the backswing.
The Granite Tyrant bucked violently below them, smashing its bulk into the stone ledge with enough power to pulverize rock, desperate to shake off the two riders clinging to its back. Kaiden endured the jolts by locking his knees in place, his gauntlet weaving restraints to secure his spot. Calypso made zero attempt to cling properly; she just hacked away nonstop, trusting sheer speed and her powerful grasp to keep her going.
It charged.
"Wrong choice, stupid rhino." The gremlin grinned, lightning building up. "I might be the smallest, but I’m also the fastest!"
Luna darted aside so swiftly she left a lingering afterimage. The beast's ram hit nothing but air, propelling it straight into the cliff face with a tremor that rattled the earth.
Frustrated, it collapsed.
Kaiden anticipated it just as the first shoulder began to drop.
"Nyx!"
Mid-leap, the spatial snare activated. The plunge halted abruptly, leaving Kaiden hovering twenty meters over the fray, demoness tucked under his arm, while the Granite Tyrant tumbled pointlessly underneath, rubbing its injured hide against unyielding stone.
Kaiden switched to Pride. Gluttony faded away as arcane symbols whirled from his empty hand, transforming the pilfered mana into projectiles. He unleashed a volley downward. Focused arcane shots blasted craters into the spots Calypso had already softened, breaching plates fractured by her axe and his greatsword.
Four distant attackers unleashed hell on a beast that had flattened itself to evade two close-combat foes, only to expose itself perfectly to ranged fire.
The Tyrant lurched back to its feet. Some primal urge in this heavily plated monster ignored the agony, forcing it upright through raw bulk and rage.
Kaiden touched down smoothly on the creature's shoulders and flipped to Gluttony the moment his boots met flesh, driving his greatsword into a prior gash. Calypso targeted the neck over the spine, skidded two meters over the writhing surface, jammed her axe into a seam between plates to halt her momentum, and resumed her frenzy from there.
The onslaught from overhead never paused.
So it bolted.
Nyx couldn't halt it. A level 78 top-tier predator fighting with full desperation outclassed her so much that a direct grab would've ruptured every blood vessel in her head before slowing its gait even slightly. She'd discovered that the hard way before.
A boulder skull-sized got flung under the Tyrant's forward leg during its stride. The monster's mass landed awkwardly, snapping the limb and stealing a half-beat of speed.
The Tyrant faltered. Its rush devolved into a clumsy flail, limbs scrabbling for grip on treacherous terrain, with Kaiden and Calypso still mounted on its shoulders, still slicing, still siphoning. Its armor hung in tatters. Its mana pool lay drained. Each stride flung blood from unhealing gashes.
And as it tripped across a shifting ground, Nyx extended her free hand to seize Luna.
Then Nyx pointed her palm earthward.
"All extras off the stage! Main character coming through!"
Calypso hurled herself off the Tyrant's shoulders with a wild laugh. Kaiden had already leaped free the second Luna's form swelled huge against the heavens.
The Stormblade smashed into the Granite Tyrant's skull crown at maximum speed, boosted by Luna's full Agility and Storm energy poured into one devastating plunge. The weapon cleaved through cranium, bone, and brain matter.
The battle wrapped in forty-one seconds.
[You’ve gained 1,420,000 XP]
[Level 56 | XP: 2,350,000 / 57,000,000]
No level up for now... Fifty-seven million stood like its own colossal peak, and they were grinding it down kill by kill. Yet 250 competition points from a level 76-100 beast had boosted Eclipse's score, widening their lead over the pack even more.
Luna extracted her Stormblade from the skull with a soggy crack and cleaned the gore on her trousers.
The chat exploded.
Kira eyed her sister. Rika met her gaze.
And across guild halls, offices, estates, and strategy rooms on six continents, longtime silent watchers finally leaned in close.
Author: The competition arc is over soon... Really this time... Pinky promise.
