Fisher arrives at the Kexie Ning Circus, interrupting the circus master Colin's deal with another buyer. Fisher proves his payment and identity by presenting a bag of gold coins and the decidedly deceased body of the original buyer, Orn, revealing himself as the true purchaser. Colin, easily swayed by the gold, agrees to the sale and leads Fisher through the circus grounds, showcasing enslaved performers and creatures. They arrive at a dark tent where Colin confirms to Fisher that the merchandise consists of five female Dragon-man species.

Dragon-man Species Mr.

Mr. Fisher accompanied Colin to a secluded part of the opened tent, peering into the darkness within. His attention was immediately captured by cages stacked one upon another. From the gloom, pairs of eyes, some bright, others dull, all reflecting hatred, fixated on the entrance. Leaning on his cane and adjusting his hat brim, he moved past Colin. "No need, just take me to see."

"Certainly, right this way," Colin replied, motioning with his hand and falling into step with Mr. Fisher as they entered the confined space of the tent.

The moment Mr. Fisher stepped inside, a low growl, reminiscent of a feline hiss, erupted from a nearby cage. He turned his head and observed a young Cat-man huddled in the cage's corner. The Cat-man's pupils, nearly vertical slits, watched Mr. Fisher warily, with a particular focus on the cane he held. However, as Mr. Fisher's calm gaze met his, the young Cat-man inexplicably lowered his head, merely emitting a soft growl.

"You wretched creature!"

Witnessing this, Colin aggressively strode forward and delivered a forceful kick to the iron cage housing the Cat-man. The impact was significant, sending the Cat-man hurtling against the cage bars. The slave seal on the chain around his neck flared with a dull glow, eliciting a pained howl from the Cat-man. Yet, the cries subsided within moments, and upon closer inspection, the child appeared to have lost consciousness.

"My apologies, Mr. Fisher, for startling you," Colin returned, dabbing sweat from his brow as if the simple act of kicking the cage had been a monumental effort. "These brutes have no grasp of human speech; training them is quite the ordeal... Please, this way, the Dragon-man is housed here."

Mr. Fisher's gaze lingered on the now-silent Cat-man for a beat before he shifted his attention and followed Colin further into the tent.

The arrangement of cages within the tent was notably organized, with the more valuable and prized demi-humans situated towards the interior. The outer cages contained species like Cat-men, Dog-men, and Werewolves – demi-human races still found in considerable numbers in the wild. As they moved deeper, illuminated by the ambient fluorescence, Mr. Fisher noticed a male Grey Bird demi-human, its white feathers faded, clinging precariously to life, clearly nearing its end. These beings, considered even lesser than slaves fit for labor, possessed no inherent rights and were a scattered presence across the globe. Since the advent of human civilization's chimneys and steam-powered machinery, humanity, driven by myriad interests, had relentlessly plundered the world's resources to generate greater value. Geographical barriers diminished, productive capacities soared daily, and the human realm flourished immensely... Yet, who could have possibly foreseen that this very future might be imperiled by these seemingly lesser beings?

The light from the rooftop fluorescence flickered, and Colin halted before another cage, clapping his hands together. The fluorescent light above seemed to animate, descending precisely onto the cage ahead, brilliantly illuminating its contents. Mr. Fisher's attention was drawn to the cage's center, the first spot bathed in fluorescence, revealing hair the color of dark, rich blood. Following this, Mr. Fisher observed what appeared to be human arms, thinly clad in distinctly scaled skin, and a slender tail that gently coiled around her body, curled up on itself. Seated there was a young girl, her form draped in a dirt-stained linen tunic she had evidently worn for an immeasurable time. Her extremities were not human but terminated in sharp claws, characteristic of Dragon-kind. Her eyes possessed an unnatural green luminescence, and as her eyelids parted, a secondary layer was revealed, showcasing pupils like polished emeralds. This was undoubtedly the young, red-haired, red-scaled, long-tailed Dragon-man, likely the very individual Mr. Fisher had been seeking.

Mr. Fisher's scrutinizing gaze met her emerald eyes, and in the ensuing moment, her pupils, now a piercing gold, narrowed sharply. Her expression was devoid of emotion yet exuded an aura chilling to the bone, suggesting the creature before him could rend him limb from limb at any second. "This is the prize we captured at great cost, injuring many of our own slaves in the process," Colin stated, his voice tinged with a hint of strain, and he once more kicked the cage holding the Dragon-man girl. However, unlike the Cat-man, the girl within remained impassive, simply observing the onlookers with quiet intensity. "But truly, they are prizes... Their blood can be processed into 'Dragon Blood,' hehe... That's quite potent, especially for a distinguished gentleman such as yourself; you have a particular need for it. Ah, and the dragon scales too, they have numerous applications. I've heard tales of nobles in Schwali favoring their scales as warming pads during the winter season, truly... heh..."

As he spoke, his gaze fell upon the girl's scales within the cage, regarding them as if they were precious jewels. Dragon-man scales, even after detachment, retained warmth due to their ability to absorb solar energy, making them highly sought-after commodities among the aristocracy and merchant classes, particularly during the colder months. And Dragon Blood was not derived from the actual blood of true dragons, as no such creatures existed in this world.

The so-called Dragon Blood was nothing more than a refined substance derived from the blood of these Dragon-man demi-humans. When consumed by humans, it could bolster vitality and health, making it a highly coveted medicinal ingredient.

Mr. Fisher surveyed the cages scattered around him, which contained several female Dragon People: two white, one blue, and one yellow.

“Alright, I’ll take…”

“Three items,” Mr. Fisher affirmed, holding up three fingers to Colin. “First, I require the slave seal. Second, have them bathed. Third, five new linen tunics.”

“No problem, no problem at all,” Colin responded, waving his chubby hand. The cages holding the Dragon People began to move gently.

Upon closer inspection, it was revealed that beneath the heavy iron cages, numerous dwarf-like beetles were operating, forming a moving track that transported the large cages. The stench emanating from within was overwhelming. After a final, lingering look at the scene inside, Mr. Fisher exited and proceeded to wait by his carriage at the circus entrance.

This location was the wilderness on the outskirts of Brian City. A month-long journey lay ahead to reach Cal Port, the harbor that would lead him to Saint Nali.

In contrast to the Western Continent, the South Continent lacked a developed rail system and infrastructure; it was primarily characterized by vast wilderness and menacing monsters.

Of course, for the avaricious individuals hailing from the Western Continent, this region represented a treasure trove of untapped riches.

“Mr. Fisher, everything is prepared…” Colin, clutching a dark brown leather scroll, hurried out from within the circus.

His ample belly jiggled with his swift movements, and sweat poured down him like rain. Behind him, several women attired as maids emerged, leading a few shackled Dragon People in Colin’s wake.

At that precise moment, as they stepped out from the dim interior of the tent, Mr. Fisher could clearly perceive the full appearance of these Dragon People.

The female Dragon People were not exceptionally tall, especially when compared to their male counterparts who stood around two meters. However, these females generally measured about 1.7 meters in height. Notably, the red Dragon Person stood a head taller than the others.

A lengthy dragon tail extended behind them, which, due to their stature, did not reach the ground. The eyes of the Dragon People following her appeared vacant, but the leader, the red one, possessed calm eyes. Yet, within those emerald green, lake-like eyes, an untold turmoil lay hidden.

“I have instructed the maids to ensure that every scale and crevice of these Dragon People is thoroughly scrubbed. Here is the Contract Emblem Book; please place your hand upon it.”

Mr. Fisher complied, laying his hand on the brown leather scroll. A series of purple lights illuminated his arm, and after two to three seconds, a peculiar sensation coursed through his mind.

Faint heartbeats echoed in his ears, seeming almost tangible—he could decelerate them, quicken their pace, or even bring them to a standstill if he desired. He now possessed complete ownership of these Dragon Man Species.

A maid stepped forward, presenting him with the chains that bound the Dragon People. Mr. Fisher entered the carriage first, opening the door and gesturing for the Dragon People to come inside.

As he stepped aside, the young Dragon girls cast him wary glances before entering the carriage one by one. Mr. Fisher did not join them; he gently closed the door behind him and, setting his cane aside as he had upon arrival, took hold of the horse’s reins.

“Farewell, Mr. Colin.”

“Take care, take care now,” Colin replied, his body quivering with a deep bow. He waited, head bowed, before daring to lift it again.

By then, the black carriage had already thundered away, heading towards another section of the Brian wilderness, and soon disappeared from view. Watching the carriage gradually vanish into the distance, he murmured to himself:

“Unbelievable, to encounter such an individual… I must depart swiftly.”

He slowly retreated back into the area concealed by the tent curtains, his substantial figure gradually fading, leaving only the sounds of applause audible. As the clapping continued, the entire circus suddenly erupted with lights and music, as if coming alive. The white curtains swirled faster and faster, engulfing the entire circus, which then began to contract while the music intensified.

“Kexie Ning! Kexie Ning! Kexie Ning!” The chants grew louder, but the circus transformed into something resembling a basketball. In the ensuing second, the white sphere vanished along with the soaring music, leaving behind only a sack containing a corpse and the perpetually observing Earth Spirits on the ground.
