The Cardinal of Destiny glanced at Emhardt, and just as the veins on his forehead started to protrude, Fisher suddenly spoke up,
"Shh, it looks like there’s someone ahead."
"Huh?"
Emhardt quickly hid behind Fisher’s head and, through Fisher’s long-neglected black hair, soon saw several flags fluttering ahead in the snow.
On the red, fluttering flags, a white giant serpent flew across them.
It was the Schwali banner.
"A Schwali... envoy?"
Fisher spoke as he turned to look at the Cardinal of Destiny behind him. She merely smiled slightly and replied,
"He who gains support gains strength. Secular allies can provide us with help in the future, especially since the visitor has some connection with you, so why not..."
"Me?"
Fisher raised an eyebrow, standing in place, and at the same time, the flags fluttering ahead suddenly stood at attention, followed by a voice that sounded like a lion’s roar,
"Who goes there?!"
Have they sensed me and the Cardinal of Destiny?
Fisher looked ahead and suddenly saw an extremely agile red figure carrying a huge blade dart out from the front, looking cautiously in Fisher’s direction.
The figure had a thick mane of golden hair, with many strands hanging down her shoulders, serving as natural cold-resistant clothing, much like a lion’s mane. On her head, a pair of soft, semicircular ears, like small bear cookies, twitched lively in the frosty sky.
Upon seeing Fisher in the snowfield, her expression changed slightly, from wary to shocked.
She shook the straight blade in her hand and stuck it in the ground, extending a hand to point incredulously at Fisher,
"Wait, you... Fisher?! What are you doing here?"
"...Philis?"
Yes, it was Philis, the lion-man species from the previous Valentina team.
Back after resolving the curse of the Frost Snow Phoenix Tree and Valentina falling into a Nirvana state, Fisher hadn’t seen anyone else but Heidlin in the Snow Fox Species village at the base of the mountain. Everyone else had gone their separate ways. He hadn’t expected to reunite here today.
"What’s going on, Philis, who’s here?"
Just then, a one-armed Schwali man dressed in thick fur rushed over, holding a fire pistol nervously in hand, quickly seeing Fisher and the others,
"Fisher? You... you’re here? No, weren’t you supposed to be in Nali?"
It was another familiar face, Balzac from Schwali.
"Ah?! How does he know you were in Nali?"
Emhardt incredulously turned to Fisher, who, holding Alicia in his arms, glanced at the silent Cardinal of Destiny behind him and still took the initiative to step forward,
"Philis, Balzac, long time no see. But, what do you mean by ’I should be in Nali,’ where did you get this information?"
Philis and Balzac exchanged glances, both staying silent but mutually understanding, before turning to look at the strangely dressed blond woman behind Fisher.
After a moment of identification, they confirmed something simultaneously, seeming hesitant to speak.
Philis scratched her ears, which were speckled with a couple of white snowflakes, unsure of what to say. Balzac, however, slung the fire pistol on his back single-handedly and spoke,
"This matter, you of all people should know best..."
"What matter?"
Fisher had an ominous premonition, which Balzac’s next words did indeed confirm, as they often did,
"The Golden Palace has issued a wide announcement, possibly a few days ago? The awe-inspiring Nali Empress’s marriage already involves political significance and curiosity. So, from streets to high officials in politics, Schwali is abuzz with this affair... I imagine it is the same elsewhere in the world. For the Golden Palace, it’s joyful news, hence the widespread notice."
Philis nodded, then mischievously shouldered the straight blade implanted in the ground, eyeing the little Alicia in his arms and the strange blond woman behind him,
"Indeed, your identity as Prince Fisher Benavides is practically known worldwide. It seems like you’re the only one not aware of it? Also, brazenly carrying your wife and child to Sema Snow Mountain?"
"Wife and child? No, this isn’t my wife, nor is this my biological child."
Fisher helplessly glanced at the innocent face of Alicia in his arms while the Cardinal of Destiny behind him shook her head appropriately.
Philis exchanged another glance with Balzac, their smiles increasingly uncontainable,
"Well, you can’t escape from Valentina’s boss over that, can you? Anyway, all you need to know is that the folks over at the Wutong Tree definitely got the news."
"...Indeed."
Fisher sighed, silently calculating the exact time.
The "few days ago" they mentioned was before his separation from Elizabeth, meaning that Elizabeth had already indicated to the Golden Palace to spread the news worldwide before their honeymoon.
