Helair confesses her past actions and motivations to Fisher, revealing a twisted possessiveness and a desire to see him free from suffering, even at the cost of killing Rafael. Fisher confronts Helair about her failed plan and learns Rafael is pregnant. Helair questions Fisher about whether he would forgive her if she had succeeded, and Fisher admits he wouldn't forgive himself for his own past actions. Helair, feeling tired after ten thousand years, drifts off to sleep in Fisher's arms, leaving him to reflect on their shared culpability.

"Bang bang bang!!"

"Hey, Paimon, you bastard who deserves a thousand cuts, where the hell are you hiding?! If you don’t come out I’ll smash your damn doghouse to pieces, awoo!"

Fisher had no idea how long he’d been staring at Helair—several minutes, over ten minutes, maybe even longer—until a series of violent banging noises and Elliog’s voice came from the wall beside them. Only then did he finally move his gaze away from Helair, who seemed to be sleeping sweetly right in front of him.

Helair didn’t move at all, as if she hadn’t heard a thing. Only the fingers Fisher was holding trembled slightly, silently telling him that this one was awake.

Fisher glanced in the direction the sound came from, then spoke softly,

"Elliog is outside."

"..."

Helair still maintained that sleeping face without moving, like a little bird curled up inside its own wings, motionless, as though she’d long since sunk into a deep Dream.

Seeing she was unmoved, Fisher prepared to gently release the hand she’d wrapped around his and get up to look for Elliog. But before he could let go, he felt her reverse her grip and clutch him even tighter, cutting his attempt to rise short.

He lifted his eyes and saw her cheek buried into the bedding, yawning as she rolled her eyes ever so slightly, giving off a vibe like some stray cat outside scratching at the Gate of the Dead Land and disturbing her sweet Dream,

"Ugh, cats in heat are such a pain..."

"You mean Elliog?"

"What do you think?"

"..."

Fisher’s face darkened as he reached out, wanting to punish her. But Helair had already nimbly let go of his hand. With a flash of morning light, she simultaneously appeared in front of one wall of the sealed room. She squinted her eyes in a smile at Fisher, who’d grabbed nothing but air on the bed, spread her palm toward him, then lightly tapped the wall. The entire wall suddenly opened, revealing the desk outside and the room full of bookshelves.

Elliog was standing by that desk, looking around. When she saw the wall with the oil painting of Helair’s back swing open, she stormed in, glaring around suspiciously at the scene inside. After confirming Fisher was fine, she lifted her nose, sniffing for any suspicious scent.

Maybe precisely because she’d done something like that, she now had to cut off any possible future trouble?

"Elliog, you went back into the Sealing again?"

"Awoo, that’s right..."

Elliog glared resentfully at Helair standing off to the side, then raised the only pair of arms she had left as she walked into the room, saying,

"Earlier that little Whale-man girl used some kind of base to release me. Once things were done over there, the base disappeared and Barbatos and the rest of us all went back into the Sealing. You gave me quite a lot of Soul Power, so I should be able to stay outside for a long time... What, do you prefer my true body’s look?"

"Your true body?"

Fisher paused for a moment, then remembered the vague figure he hadn’t had time to look at carefully in that emergency—a two-meter-tall Elliog like a giant tiger, with six arms.

How to put it... if he really thought about it, it was actually pretty...

"Mm, I’d suggest you not say terrifying things like that when his injuries have just barely healed. It’s easy to make people uncomfortable."

Elliog turned in annoyance to glare at Helair, who was smiling with narrowed eyes, her tail swaying behind her. She snorted,

"You bastard who deserves a thousand cuts, I haven’t even settled the score with you yet... Oh, I almost forgot, awoo, to be precise you met Fisher first, so me putting my Seal on him first counts as snatching your guy? So, be grateful—I can’t be bothered to settle this messy tab with you."

Facing Elliog whose Competitive streak had suddenly exploded, Helair looked at her with a smile that didn’t reach her eyes and replied,

"Relax, I’m very magnanimous. I’m not some stray cat that pisses wherever it goes just to mark territory."

As she spoke, her peripheral vision silently flicked toward the completely new wooden chair that had replaced the old one by the desk outside the Door. Elliog froze for a moment, also looking that way as something suddenly came to mind. Even while facing off against Helair, she suddenly felt embarrassed.

"..."

A faint heat rose on Elliog’s wheat-colored skin, and her tiger fangs clenched slightly...

It really couldn’t be helped—because it had been too long since she’d done anything and she’d been holding back for far too long, losing control for a moment was only natural, awoo!

Right then Fisher, who had gotten out of bed, also happened to see the replaced wooden chair outside the Door. Only now did he realize that there was a hidden Door at the end of the second floor, with another room inside, and that they were currently resting here.

This was something he and Elliog had done together. If anyone should be embarrassed, it ought to be the two of them.

But Fisher had done this sort of thing enough times that he seemed much calmer than Elliog, and could even conveniently cover for Elliog, who’d ended up getting the short end of the stick in that clash under Paimon’s hand,

"So you’re saying the Demon Dynasty is back to how it was before?"

"You could say that, but it’s probably worse than before." Elliog glanced at Helair, who was smiling quietly and not saying a word, and kept feeling like Helair was silently jabbing at her from the shadows. She glared at her before continuing,

"Because that beast Solomon opened the ten Gates, the Authority of Death is more agitated than at any time in the past. Although that Human friend of yours shut the ten Gates again and sealed off He Ya’s consciousness, the overexcited Authority can no longer be taken back. So that extra portion of Authority is all on Paimon now... Hehe, she’s just like us now, doomed to be imprisoned here forever to stand watch over Death."
