After Iristin left the room, Qin Lun picked up the bowl of meat soup which had already cooled down, drank it all in one gulp, and slowly chewed the meat pieces inside. He then took something out from his Storage Space and laid it flat on his palm.
This was the Scarlet Eye he obtained from the Hunter World. One of them had already been used up in a previous battle, and the one in his hand was the remaining one. After getting the Scarlet Eye from the Hunter World, Qin Lun sensed that these eyes contained an unknown power.
However, what puzzled him was that he could not figure out what kind of power it was. At the same time, because the Scarlet Eye was not an unidentified item, Shattered Starry Sky did not provide a specific explanation.
The Scarlet Eye was the eye of the Kurta Clan from the Hunter World. When their emotions experienced intense fluctuations, their pupils would turn scarlet red. Members of the Kurta Clan who had trained in Nen could utilize the Scarlet Eye to unleash power far beyond their normal capabilities.
Qin Lun’s former companion, Kurapika, was one of the best among them. When the youth’s eyes turned red, he could use the Scarlet Eye to enhance his Nen by more than ten times, while also changing his Manipulation abilities into Specialization, thereby displaying extraordinary combat strength.
After obtaining these eyes, Qin Lun originally wanted to use them to enhance the power of Blood of Dissection, but he could not proceed because he never understood the power inside. He vaguely felt that this pair of Scarlet Eyes could serve as the pupil power for the Clock Eye, but doing so would turn them into consumable items, which felt somewhat wasteful. However, after the previous battle, Qin Lun finally figured out what type of power the Scarlet Eye contained, and why Shattered Starry Sky did not provide an explanation for this World Treasure.
It was because the power contained within the Scarlet Eye was actually the energy possessed by an Apostle’s Law Body, except that Qin Lun had not yet listed it as an attribute in the Death Notice.
This power could be called potential, related to the essence of life and soul. Everyone possessed this power, some more, some less. When martial artists trained themselves, besides improving their physical fitness, they were actually digging into their own potential.
Ordinary people, without training, found it hard to use this power under normal circumstances. However, there were exceptions. For instance, when emotions fluctuated intensely and the body completely lost its self-protection mechanism, driven by the subconscious, they might perform actions that normally seemed unbelievable.
For example: an elderly person in their seventies suddenly erupted with great strength to lift a several-ton heavy truck when their grandchild was trapped underneath.
Of course, the final result for ordinary people who completely burned their potential in this way was only one—death!
The Law Body of an Apostle also contained potential, but unlike ordinary people, Apostles could increase and restore their potential through certain methods, and use it as a form of explosive power with huge consumption.
The power inside the Scarlet Eye was the life essence of the Kurta Clan, and also their way of manifesting potential. After realizing this, Qin Lun quickly added the attribute data representing potential to the Death Notice.
However, this attribute data was different from fixed stats like strength and agility, and also different from fluctuating stats like health and stamina. For Apostles, this attribute could only be displayed through certain high-rank skills, at least Apostle Skills of B-rank or above would involve this attribute.
Of course, not all B-rank skills involved this attribute. Currently, Qin Lun only had two A-rank skills related to this attribute. Moreover, its manifestation was very unique. Its consumption was not continuous, but explosive, using up a large chunk all at once.
For example, if the consumption of this attribute for a B-rank skill was one, then regardless of whether it was B- or B+, the consumption remained one. For skills of the same major rank, regardless of power level, the consumption was all the same.
Qin Lun named this attribute power Burst Energy, with the consumption of B-rank skills as the base unit. For A-rank skills, the consumption unit would directly rise to three Burst Energy. After the attribute description for Burst Energy formed in the Death Notice, an identical Burst Energy bar immediately appeared below the original health and stamina values.
Qin Lun’s current Burst Energy bar had three slots. Originally, his Burst Energy bar was not even three slots, so he could not use A-rank skills before. However, the consumed Scarlet Eye increased his potential a little, meeting this condition, and the A- rank Stellar Black Hole also truly rose to A-rank through this opportunity.
Of course, the result of forcibly consuming Burst Energy, although it did not kill Qin Lun directly like an ordinary person, still left him with huge aftereffects. Potential was somewhat different from health and stamina points. Existing recovery items could not restore potential. One could only use special treasures like the Scarlet Eye, or wait until Qin Lun returned to let Shattered Starry Sky repair the Law Body.
…
“Apostle 70053, you have followed the Qundar Moon Elf to Ank Forest, meeting the minimum requirement of the task. You can submit the task now, or wait until the next two migration groups arrive before submitting.”
“Hint: This migration operation suffered heavy personnel losses. Task rewards decreased by 30%. The Fortress Team had two members participating in the task. Apostle 40053 had a contribution rate of 72%, obtaining 50,000 Shattered Crystals, 1,000 Exchange Vouchers, 12 Contribution Points, and two Shattered Laws Crystals. Additional rewards based on World Exploration Degree will be settled upon return.”
“Qin Lun, can I discuss something with you!” Nicole’s voice suddenly came through the Team Channel. “You should have submitted the migration task by now, right? Could you sell some of the Contribution Points you obtained to our team?”
“Sell Contribution Points?” Qin Lun rolled his eyes slightly, asking with a hint of doubt. “Can something like Contribution Points be transferred?”
“Contribution Points cannot be transferred between individuals. However, teams of Bronze Level or above can have team members hand over a portion of their Contribution Points to the Leader. This is an action recognized by Shattered Starry Sky, used to reward the Leader for coordination efforts.” Nicole sounded a bit embarrassed. Speaking of coordination contributions, Qin Lun had contributed the most in these two tasks; if anyone should receive points, it should be him.
But the Fortress Team had no choice now. To maintain their Silver Team status, someone among them must reach the third-tier Apostle title. And Stark, who had the highest Contribution Points, was still about 100 Contribution Points away from the third tier.
“No problem, I received 12 Contribution Points, I’ll hand them all over to Leader Stark!” Qin Lun agreed with a smile. He currently also wanted to improve his Apostle title, but he was not in a hurry. Handing them over was fine, especially since Nicole was not asking for free but buying them.
“You cannot hand over all of them. For each task, you can only hand over up to 30%, and fractions are rounded down. For 12 points, only 3 points can be handed over.” Hearing this, Nicole relaxed and said gratefully, “You are only cooperating with us; the team will not take your Contribution Points for free. We will purchase them at a price of 10,000 Shattered Crystals per point.”
“No problem!” Qin Lun smiled indifferently, looking towards the distant huge World Tree, and said calmly, “But since we’ve arrived at the Anke Elf Court, remember to reach an agreement with the Lost Team as soon as possible to avoid complications.”
Each Elven World Tree had its own unique style. The World Tree of Qiongda’er Forest grew in a spiral shape, with branches extending from the base resting on the outer walls of the Elven Court. Overall, it looked like an overturned goblet on the ground, called the Magic Cup Court.
The World Tree of Ank Forest was completely different from the Magic Cup Court. This World Tree had many aerial roots growing on its branches. These aerial roots hung down from the branches, deeply rooted in the soil, forming countless huge pillars that together supported a canopy as vast as the sky.
If the World Tree of Qiongda’er Forest was a towering spiral magical vine, then the World Tree of Ank Forest was like a boundless green cloud.
One tree formed a forest. The countless thick aerial roots made this World Tree look like a forest within a forest. The extremely wide tree canopy covered this area of land like a dome.
The Anke Elf Court was not on the ground but built upon the tree canopy. The leaves of the World Tree and the floating clouds in the sky obscured most of the city’s outline, making this city within the trees appear faintly visible, like a celestial palace high in the heavens.
Therefore, the Anke Elf Court was also called “Cloudtop City” by the elves!
The migration team arrived at Ank Forest this morning and met the welcoming party led by King Thanequalas from the Anke Elf Court. The Anke Elf King was extremely enthusiastic, treating Elder Adeline and High Priest Menon with courtesy, and greeting Iristin and Qin Lun, these descendants of the royal family, one by one.
King Thanequalas’s attitude and efforts to win them over made all the Qundar Moon Elves relax. Although everyone came by invitation, the Elf King’s enthusiasm still made these Moon Elves, who were used to being suppressed in the Magic Cup Court, feel somewhat overwhelmed by the favor.
Ank Forest was not as large as Qiongda’er Forest. After entering the forest, it only took them most of the day to reach the Anke Elf Court—”Cloudtop City.”
The Anker Elves were also divided into Moon Elves and Green Elves. However, unlike the Magic Cup Court, although the ruling elves were Moon Elves, the Green Elves were not suppressed and lived together with the Moon Elves in Cloudtop City.
The treehouses of the Anker Elves were all built within the canopy of the World Tree. Unlike the Magic Cup Court, the canopy of the Ank World Tree was extremely wide, enough to accommodate all the elves’ treehouses. In the evening, the entire canopy of the World Tree was dotted with orange-red lights, looking beautiful and serene.
“Firal, thank you!” Iristin, standing beside Qin Lun, said softly, gazing intoxicated at the Cloudtop City before her.
“Thank me for what?” Qin Lun smiled faintly.
“Thank you for making me determined to come to Ank Forest!” Iristin gave a warm smile, laughing from the bottom of her heart. “Compared to the castles of the Magic Cup Court, I prefer the environment here. It feels more natural, more like our elves’ homeland.”
“Then let’s go up and take a look!” Qin Lun smiled, grabbing the hanging vine ladder from above, and climbed towards Cloudtop City up in the canopy.
