“What do you need us to do?” Hill’s smiling face appeared on the projector. All the serial killers felt a sense of schadenfreude about the trouble Qin Lun was facing.
Hill and Hansen were happy to help Qin Lun, but not just because they owed him a favor from before. They had no other choice. Whether it was Hill and Hansen, or Grant and Rand, they all knew they were very unique individuals.
Because of their paranoid worldviews and occasional mental breakdowns, they could join other apostles’ temporary teams but could never truly fit into an ordinary team. As their strength grew and missions became more difficult in the future, they had to cooperate with each other to form a Murderer Team.
During this early stage when they were still weak, the loss of any one serial killer would weaken the future Murderer Team. Watching Qin Lun fail would be amusing, but it wouldn’t be the smart thing to do. This was also the underlying reason why Qin Lun had helped them back then—it wasn’t purely out of risk-taking or curiosity.
“Help me scout out what enemies are in the villa, and if possible, find out whether my servants are alive or dead! This will help me make a decision,” Qin Lun said thoughtfully. “If a large team is really targeting me, then I’ll have no choice but to temporarily join Sky Float and rely on their protection to get through this crisis.”
“If I remember correctly, you’re still just a reserve member of Sky Float. It doesn’t seem like they’ve truly accepted you yet!” Grant’s ugly face appeared on the projector, grinning mockingly.“I know,” Qin Lun replied, covering his face in exasperation. “That’s why I need you to do a second thing for me. I’ll be entering a Quest World again within an hour, and I need you to help me buy some items at the Demiplane Trading Floor.”
He had just returned from Hunter World, where his battle of wits with the Phantom Troupe had exhausted him. In the end, he didn’t even feel like completing the Side Plot of “Greed Island” and rushed back. If he had any other choice, he absolutely would not enter another Quest World.
“What do you need?” Hill asked cautiously.
“World Treasure-level recovery items and Flesh Golems, with a budget of around 150,000 Shattered Crystals,” Qin Lun said after thinking for a moment. “Also, help me buy a Synchronous Teleporter.”
“A Synchronous Teleporter? That’s not cheap. Doesn’t the team you temporarily joined have one?” Hill raised his eyebrows in surprise before laughing. “You’re going to spend a fortune this time!”
Before Hunter World, Qin Lun had spent 200,000 Shattered Crystals on a teleportation sphere to enhance Joey’s combat abilities. The sphere allowed him to teleport into a specific, restricted Quest World.
The Synchronous Teleporter served a similar purpose, but with a key difference: while the teleportation sphere targeted a specific world, the Synchronous Teleporter focused on timing. It could bypass the rest period between two Quest Worlds for an apostle and synchronize directly with the time another apostle entered a Quest World.
Although Synchronous Teleporters weren’t necessarily more expensive than teleportation spheres, they were not easy to acquire.
Think about it: a teleportation sphere was valuable because it granted access to a specific world. Meanwhile, a Synchronous Teleporter allowed an apostle to enter a Quest World anytime, anywhere, effectively providing an extra layer of protection in the Shattered Starry Sky.
Another difference was that the Synchronous Teleporter wasn’t a single-use item. It could be recharged in the Shattered Starry Sky and used multiple times until the materials could no longer withstand the spatiotemporal energy and broke down.
Depending on the materials used, a Synchronous Teleporter could be used one to ten times. Generally, only high-rank apostles in large teams used them under special circumstances. Moreover, these items could only be exchanged from the Shattered Starry Sky’s item list, as they were creations of the Star Void’s laws.
Qin Lun, with his apostle title at the second tier and second level, couldn’t exchange for it yet. Only apostles with high-tier titles could use mission evaluation cards to make the exchange. The lowest-tier Synchronous Teleporter required at least a Bronze Card from a Mid-Magic World or a Silver Card from a Low Magic World, along with a large number of Shattered Crystals.
From this, it was clear just how valuable the mission evaluation cards were. They might seem insignificant, but many special items required them.
Because Synchronous Teleporters were extremely rare and not in high demand, they were scarce in the market but not impossible to find. Usually, they were sold by high-rank apostles to raise funds.
“I don’t have any Shattered Crystals left, but two Silver Cards should be enough to exchange for one Synchronous Teleporter,” Qin Lun said, reluctantly showing Hill and the others the two Mid-Magic World Silver Cards in his hand.
One of the Silver Cards was his mission evaluation card from Hunter World, and the other was from the Metropolis Domination War. This move completely emptied Qin Lun’s stockpile.
“It seems you made quite a haul in the last Quest World,” Hill said, his eyes gleaming as he looked at the two Silver Cards in Qin Lun’s hand. Obtaining Silver Cards from a Mid-Magic World meant the Otherworld Mission was completed well, and the rewards were surely substantial.
“Qin Lun, with the 150,000 Shattered Crystals, do you only want World Treasure-level recovery items and Flesh Golems? What about other ordinary recovery items?” Hill asked, puzzled.
“Yes, only World Treasure-type recovery items,” Qin Lun nodded. He hadn’t used many ordinary recovery items in Hunter World, only two Philly Preserved Fruits of the treasure-grade variety.
As his personal strength and mission difficulty increased, Qin Lun found that ordinary recovery items had significant limitations. In critical moments, World Treasure-level recovery items were the ones that truly mattered. As for Flesh Golems, he found them very useful and had used several in Hunter World. Now, his Storage Space only had one Flesh Golem left with little residual energy, so he naturally needed to replenish his stock.
Moreover, during his conversation with Odo, Qin Lun had noticed several key pieces of information about the outer team of Sky Float, even though the Summoner hadn’t revealed everything.
Odo mentioned that the original leader of the outer team had died, and the team was now fighting for leadership. From this, it was clear that the team was highly capable. It was very likely that the Quest World they were about to enter would be a Mid-Magic World, not a Low Magic World.
The reasoning was simple: an outer team responsible for recruiting new members for Sky Float would at least be a mature Bronze Team. The core members of such a team were likely Second-Order Apostles, not Professional Apostles.
For example, the Fink Team that Qin Lun and the others had fought to the death against in Nals World was a nearly formed Bronze Team. They even had a Black Iron Team attached to them—the small squad that Hill and Hansen had wiped out while freelancing.
However, the Fink Team wasn’t on the radar of large teams and might even be weaker than the Sky Float outer team Qin Lun had just joined. A team of this caliber should have several Second-Order Apostles, with the rest being at least Professional Apostles.
Analyzing this, Odo’s revealed information became very interesting. How could a team of this strength lose its leader in a Quest World? Excluding accidents, it was almost certain they had entered a Mid-Magic World.
The dangers of a Mid-Magic World were self-explanatory. Qin Lun had only been to one before—the Nals World, which was used as a training ground for Professional Apostles.
Even in a Training Ground like Nals World, Qin Lun had nearly died. This was with the combined efforts of three serial killers and the decoy presence of the Sas couple.
To be honest, the Fink Team hadn’t given them much trouble. Casey’s “Nirvana” trio was an unexpected encounter, but the truly terrifying ones were the Mages and Grand Druids, who possessed the power to destroy heaven and earth with a single move.
If it were a Mid-Magic World that wasn’t a training ground for apostles, would the top-tier forces of that world be as polite to small fries like Qin Lun? Would there really be no unexpected encounters like the “Nirvana” trio?
“Anything else?” Hill asked one last time.
“There’s one more thing I’d like to trade with you, but it’s incredibly valuable. If you don’t have something of equal worth, I’d rather keep it,” Qin Lun said, a hint of regret flashing across his face.
“What is it?” Even Rand, who had stayed silent until then, spoke up. All four serial killers showed keen interest.
“It’s something I obtained in the last Quest World. Even Rand hasn’t seen it,” Qin Lun said with a mysterious smile as he took out the “Big Bang Impact” scroll dropped by Uvogin.
“Hiss!” Apart from Rand, who had some idea that it might be a drop from a Phantom Troupe member, the other three gasped as they read the description on the projector. Their eyes burned with undisguised desire.
“An A-grade Skill Scroll!” Hill clicked his tongue and sighed with mixed feelings. “A great item, but it’s not suitable for me or Rand. Only Hansen and Grant can compete for it.”
As the serial killers grew more familiar with Devil’s Horn, they learned that the apostle auction house mostly only had D-grade Skill Scrolls. Even C-grade Skill Scrolls were rare in the market and could only be found in the Demiplane Trading Floors of various Apostle Alliances.
As for skills above C-grade, breaking into B-grade, even high-rank apostles struggled to find them. A-grade skills could serve as ultimate trump cards. Just think about Qin Lun’s sealed A+ grade “Tree World Descent” to understand how fearsome A-grade skills were.
Skills above B-grade with broad applicability were priceless and couldn’t be measured in Shattered Crystals. They were almost never available for purchase—only through bartering.
Previously, when Qin Lun obtained the Flamingo fist scroll, Kelly, the deputy leader of Lost, was tempted. Even though the beautiful deputy leader eventually exchanged it for items of equal value and the Heavenly Insight Eye skill, it still counted as Qin Lun repaying the favor Kelly had shown him earlier.
“Big Bang Impact” was two sub-grades lower than “Tree World Descent,” but it was still an A-grade skill. It was impossible for the serial killers not to covet it.
