“Zzzzt—” In the empty, sealed room, a vertical pupil as tall as a person abruptly appeared. A brilliant point of light shot out from the Space-Time Portal, and within seconds, a Law Body of an Apostle was rebuilt from nothing.
The Apostle Soul Mark was protected by laws within the Shattered Starry Sky, so it wouldn’t suffer any harm when returning from another world. This law protection would only vanish again after the Law Body was fully constructed.
Of course, if it was in another world’s spacetime, then there was no such protection, and returning could be dangerous. This was one of the reasons why the Shattered Starry Sky required Apostles to return only when not in combat and not under surveillance.
Qin Lun opened his eyes, and the white walls of the teleportation room came into view. However, the young man didn’t get up and leave immediately. He had agreed with Rand when returning that they would leave together to discuss the matter of the Murderer Team.
Since Rand had participated in a Side Plot of Greed Island again after the Yorknew City incident, if he returned safely, he would probably be a few minutes late. Qin Lun took this opportunity to sit cross-legged and began reviewing his gains from the Hunter World.
Although the Shattered Starry Sky’s mission settlement was already finished, there were still two issues Qin Lun wanted to understand. One was that the Shattered Starry Sky recognized that he had killed three members of the Troupe, and the other was that the “Shalnark Doll” he originally possessed did not return to his Storage Space. In the Hunter World, Qin Lun definitely killed Uvogin and Shalnark. Their reward items had already dropped, so even if the Phantom Troupe ultimately used some ability to free the soul of the puppet doll, the Shattered Starry Sky should not deny this achievement.
However, that was only two Troupe members; there was still one more kill that the Shattered Starry Sky counted towards him. Actually, only two members of the Phantom Troupe died—Uvogin and Pakunoda. “Shalnark” was ultimately saved by Shizuku and Machi working together.
After much thought, Qin Lun could only conclude that the Shattered Starry Sky counted Pakunoda’s death as his achievement.
This was possible. Although Pakunoda died due to Judgment Chain for violating Kurapika’s rule, her death really should be credited to Qin Lun. Even the Phantom Troupe thought so.
As for the “Shalnark Doll” not automatically returning to the Storage Space, this surprised Qin Lun somewhat. Apostle equipment was a very magical thing; its essence was an additional law connected to the Apostle Soul Mark, an extension of the Apostle’s Law Body.
As long as the owner did not relinquish ownership, even if other Apostles picked it up on the battlefield, they couldn’t possess it, and it would eventually return to the original owner’s Storage Space. To obtain Apostle items from other Apostles, aside from normal trade, the only way was to extract them from a Bloody Cube.
That the stitched-together body of Shalnark didn’t return was expected, but even the puppet doll inside it didn’t return, which surprised Qin Lun. It indicated that the Shattered Starry Sky was subject to certain restrictions in other worlds; under certain conditions, Apostle equipment could be taken by natives of that other spacetime.
Because of this, Qin Lun vaguely felt that Shalnark might not be dead after all, and could have been revived by his companions in the Phantom Troupe. After all, the “Shalnark Doll” had an Artifact Spirit and a physical body; as long as the Artifact Spirit was freed, it would most likely reunite with the body and revive.
Thinking of this, Qin Lun took out the world special treasure he had drawn from his Storage Space, and a smile appeared on his face. He now vaguely understood why the Shattered Starry Sky counted Pakunoda’s death as his achievement and gave him this item.
This world special treasure was a translucent small figure the size of a palm. Its texture was somewhat like ceramic, but not as brittle as ceramic. This translucent small figure had golden hair reaching its ears, wore a women’s suit and a tight mini-skirt, had one hand on its hip, and a blank expression. It was the Pakunoda Figure (collectible character model).
This figure wasn’t purely an Artifact Spirit, but a complete Apostle item, a special puppet of Dark Gold Quality. Qin Lun estimated this was probably compensation given to him by the Shattered Starry Sky. After all, the puppet doll didn’t return, and the Shattered Starry Sky bore a small responsibility due to law defects.
Since Nen Ability was essentially Life Energy, and the Pakunoda Figure had no physical body, this “Pakunoda” could only survive by relying on Qin Lun’s Stamina/Energy Points and Health Points.
From the introduction in the Death Notice, it could be seen that the “Pakunoda” Figure possessed the Soul of this beautiful Troupe member, retained her previous memories and combat experience, and still had the “Memory Probe” ability. However, without the Life Energy of a physical body, she could no longer use powerful moves like “Psychic Ballet.”
However, the “Pakunoda” Figure was different from ordinary Apostle items; it was a special item that could not be repaired by external means.
Pakunoda Figure (Special Puppet)
Quality: Dark Gold
Material: Soul Item
Weight: 25 grams
Item Laws: Memory Recall, Shared Life
Memory Recall: As long as part of the body touches the target, she can explore the target’s deep memories by asking questions, and compress the memory content into Nen bullets to feed back to others.
Shared Life: With the owner’s consent, this figure can reflect damage it receives back to the owner, thereby recovering from that damage. Conversely, it can also bear damage received by the owner.
Equipment Description: This figure possesses the memories and combat experience of the original Soul. It can restore the originally possessed Nen ability system as the owner’s strength increases. Once this figure is completely broken, it cannot be repaired in any way. This figure has self-awareness, can refuse the owner’s requests, and enter a forced sleep state.
Qin Lun looked at the Pakunoda Figure, sighed, and somewhat helplessly threw it back into his Storage Space. Since this thing had self-awareness, its growth potential was great; it might even restore its original powerful strength.
However, he and Pakunoda were mortal enemies, and he had killed the beauty’s companions—Uvogin and Shalnark. Pakunoda’s angry Soul would absolutely not willingly help him. If it tripped him up at a critical moment, he would die with everlasting regret.
After resting for a while and seeing that it was about time, Qin Lun stood up and left the teleportation room, waiting in the hall for Rand’s return.
“Qin Lun!” Within a few minutes, a loud voice rang out behind the young man.
“You are… Rand!” Qin Lun turned around and looked somewhat surprised at the well-built, handsome young man behind him. “Is this your disguise appearance?”
“No, this is my original appearance from a few years ago!” Rand shook his head, a trace of reminiscence in his eyes.
“So that’s how it is!” Qin Lun understood. Firecracker Rand was originally a rigorously trained firefighter, so his body certainly couldn’t have been weak and feeble. That he previously turned into a stooped, troubled middle-aged man showed how severe the mental trauma from that blow back then had been.
“Come sit at my place. Let’s call Hill and the others over tonight; maybe we can start preparing our own team!” Qin Lun said with a smile. “But we need to buy a Bronze Team badge. I still have a few servants at home; a five-person Black Iron Team can’t accommodate them…”
Qin Lun had only spoken halfway when he suddenly stopped, slowly raised his eyebrows, and a trace of cold sharpness appeared on his face.
“What’s wrong?” Rand’s gaze flashed, immediately noticing his companion’s change.
“Sorry, Rand, please do me a favor!” Qin Lun grinned, showing his white teeth, and said calmly, “I’m afraid I can’t go back right now. Help me notify Hill and the others; the favor they owe me might be repayable now!”
“What do you need me to do?” Rand narrowed his eyes slightly and asked cautiously.
“Help me tell them…” Qin Lun’s gaze flickered as he leaned close to Rand and lowered his voice to instruct him.
“Alright, I’ll come back here as soon as I find them!” Rand nodded thoughtfully after a moment and quickly left the Teleportation Hall.
After watching Rand leave, Qin Lun’s expression immediately turned somber, slowly becoming livid. Just now, when mentioning Frank and the others to Rand, he suddenly noticed something strange in his Death Notice.
He currently had three servants by his side: the Hunchbacked Servant Frank Stan, the Little Mute Sif Alexandra, and the little Lu-Lu Tribe member Didi. Leaving Didi aside for now, both Sif and Frank were Apostle identities—Sif was an independent Apostle, while Frank was a true Servant Apostle closely linked to his Apostle Soul Mark.
When he entered the Hunter World, Frank’s Apostle number in the Death Notice was gray, indicating the Servant Apostle and the master were not in the same spacetime. But now Frank’s Apostle number had disappeared from the Death Notice—not gray, but gone!
This indicated that Frank was either dead or had actively terminated their master-servant relationship. Given Frank Stan’s character, it was absolutely impossible for him to betray Qin Lun for no reason. So only two conclusions remained: one was that Frank was dead, the other was that Frank was trying to warn him in this way.
The Teleportation Hall had many small salons provided for Apostles waiting for companions. Qin Lun found a sofa with a backrest, sat down, propped his chin on his hand, and began to think.
“Which team is it—Chaos, Lost, or Sky Float?”
To prevent his Villa from being attacked by people like Hill or Hansen after the Nals World incident, Qin Lun had set up some alarms and Protection measures in the Villa. These things didn’t require Apostle items; the Magical Arrays of the Demon Clan and the Elven Race were quite good, and they were cheap if bought with Shattered Crystals and City Points.
To break into the Villa quickly, control or kill Frank and the others, without causing a big commotion, only a High-Rank Apostle could do it. Qin Lun believed there was a reason the urban patrol hadn’t noticed—because the duration of a trip to another world was only about an hour for the Shattered Starry Sky.
He hadn’t received any notifications or messages in his Apostle Identity Plate. Clearly, the management of Devil’s Horn hadn’t discovered this incident yet; the enemies might still be at the Villa waiting for his return.
“If I guess correctly, Frank probably isn’t dead yet. Since he went so far as to terminate our master-servant relationship to warn me, it means the enemies are very powerful. Frank didn’t think I could defeat them head-on!” A cold light flashed in Qin Lun’s eyes as he laughed to himself.
“Frank, I won’t waste your warning. No matter who those people are, I hope they’re mentally prepared to face me!”
