Qin Lun and Kurapika stopped walking at the same time and looked up ahead. At the top of the wire fence in front of them stood two beautiful women, one tall and one short.
The tall beauty had willow-like eyebrows and bright eyes, a high forehead and a prominent nose, but she looked a bit like the Aryan race from the West on Earth. She wore a women’s suit and a mini skirt, with black high heels. Her outfit was bold and seductive. It seemed that under the deep V-neck of her little suit, she wasn’t wearing a bra, revealing a hint of full, rounded, pale, and smooth curves.
The short beauty had black hair and black pupils, rather resembling Qin Lun’s Eastern heritage. She wore a long-sleeved sweater and jeans, with an upside-down cross pendant hanging on her chest. Although she was pretty and cute, her pair of bright, large eyes, framed by black glasses, appeared a bit dull.
“Pakunoda!” A relaxed smile appeared on Qin Lun’s face. He had never thought that their movements while leaving the Abandoned District could escape the notice of these two.
In the initial information provided by Hisoka, Pakunoda, like Shalnark, was responsible for gathering intelligence within the Troupe. Although Hisoka said that Pakunoda’s Nen Ability could seamlessly extract enemies’ memories and her main job was interrogation, Qin Lun didn’t believe that an intelligence officer would lack battlefield reconnaissance capabilities.
Hisoka had already betrayed Qin Lun and the others, but the young man didn’t think the earlier information from Hisoka was problematic either. The reason was simple: if Hisoka had never betrayed the Troupe, then Shalnark probably wouldn’t have been captured.Qin Lun believed that Hisoka’s betrayal of the Hunter Side must have happened after the Troupe’s second attack. There were likely only two triggers for this: one was that he himself had replaced Kuroro and sparked Hisoka’s interest; the other was naturally that Kuroro had made him a promise.
The first reason could be ruled out since Hisoka was currently at the Amusement Park, not here. So the remaining reason must be that Kuroro had given him some promise, perhaps to arrange a fair duel between the two of them afterward, just as Hisoka demanded.
“Finally, I meet you, Qin Lun!” Pakunoda crossed her arms, accentuating her full chest even more, and looked down at Qin Lun from her high position.
“Ah, so he looks so plain! I thought someone that cunning would be as handsome as the Leader!” Shizuku looked at Qin Lun with an expressionless face and spoke.
“This… I’m really sorry!” Qin Lun gave a wry smile and rubbed his nose.
“Shizuku, so you like this type of boy!” Pakunoda raised her willow-like eyebrows slightly, and her gaze unconsciously swept into the distance.
Seeing this, Qin Lun felt a stir in his heart and said with a light laugh, “Kortopi and the other two won’t get here that fast. They were held up by Shalnark!”
“Shalnark is still alive?” Pakunoda and Shizuku both had their eyes light up and quickly asked.
“This… it’s hard to explain. You can think of it as him being under my control!” Qin Lun placed a hand on his chest, bowed, and performed an Elf noble salute to the two of them. “I heard from Hisoka that to join the Troupe, you just need to defeat one of you. So, do I still have that qualification now?”
“Qin Lun!” Kurapika turned his head and looked at Qin Lun angrily, a trace of confusion flashing in his eyes.
He knew that Qin Lun had no bottom line; temporarily switching sides was something he was totally capable of doing. But Qin Lun had already killed two Troupe members in a row. Even if Pakunoda agreed now, would he dare to believe it?
“Hisoka? Hehe, regarding Hisoka, we have to thank you. If it weren’t for your appearance, we probably still wouldn’t know that there was a big, treacherous rat in the Troupe.” A slight smile appeared at the corner of Pakunoda’s mouth, though her eyes remained cold.
Sure enough, the other Troupe members already knew Hisoka’s true purpose for joining the Troupe. So his desire to duel the Leader hadn’t changed—only the method to achieve his goal had shifted, from helping the Hunter Side to helping the Phantom Troupe.
But this meant that his own thinking wasn’t wrong either; the information about Pakunoda’s ability that Hisoka provided earlier probably wasn’t fabricated! A cold glint flashed in Qin Lun’s eyes, and he immediately made a decision.
“Joining the Troupe requires the Leader’s consent!” Shizuku wrinkled her brow and said sternly, “Pakunoda, let’s just kill him quickly. Anyway, the order the Leader gave us earlier was to capture him dead or alive!”
“Shizuku, don’t rush!” A strange light flashed in Pakunoda’s eyes as she waved her hand to interrupt her companion. “Besides needing the Leader’s agreement to join the Troupe, you also need a recommender. But none of us will recommend you. Even if Shalnark is still alive, what about what happened with Uvogin before?”
“Uvogin wasn’t killed by me. It was this Kurta Clan boy next to me!” Qin Lun suddenly reached out and grabbed Kurapika’s arm. With a flick of his wrist, he lifted the whole boy off the ground and threw him toward the two women. “I’ll give him to you. That should be fine, right?”
“Shizuku is yours, but make it quick!” In Kurapika’s disbelieving eyes, he saw the young man wink at him, and at the same time, a low whisper reached his ear. He couldn’t help but feel a stir inside and gave up struggling.
At such a critical moment, Qin Lun’s conversation with Pakunoda certainly wasn’t to build rapport. Pakunoda hoped to stall for time, waiting for other companions from the Abandoned District to arrive, while Qin Lun wanted to confirm the earlier intelligence.
In terms of strength, although both sides only had two people, they were still stronger than the Hunter Side. Leaving Kurapika aside, at the very least, Qin Lun couldn’t defeat either of the two beauties.
However, Shizuku and Pakunoda weren’t full-time combat members in the Troupe after all, so there were still gaps to exploit. And the most crucial point was that the Troupe members still knew very little about Kurapika’s abilities. The boy didn’t trust Hisoka at all and hadn’t revealed his own abilities to him earlier.
If the information provided by Hisoka was accurate, then compared to Shizuku, Qin Lun preferred to fight Pakunoda. The reason was that this tall beauty’s Nen Ability medium was also a revolver. Dealing with a Gunslinger, Qin Lun was confident that even if his combat power was slightly inferior, he could hold out for a while, waiting for Kurapika and Shizuku to decide the outcome.
“Be careful!” Pakunoda’s bright eyes flashed as she cautioned Shizuku, then leaped down from the wire fence. At the same time, she drew a silver revolver from her waist and fired at Kurapika.
“Bang!” Qin Lun flipped his hands, and Burial of Light and Darkness was suddenly in his grasp. He raised his hand and fired a shot.
“Clink!” To Pakunoda’s surprise, the bullet fired from “Angel’s Praise” collided with her Nen bullet aimed at Kurapika, and both ricocheted off to who knows where.
“So strong!” Qin Lun gave a bitter smile. Burial of Light and Darkness was a Legendary set of firearms, and its bullets were pressed from Dark Gold Quality molds, each costing no less than 100 Shattered Crystals.
100 Shattered Crystals might seem insignificant, but if you convert the purchasing power of Shattered Crystals, high-quality food worth tens of thousands of Jenny in the exchange list of Shattered Starry Sky might not even be as valuable as the lowest-level recovery item you can get for 100 Shattered Crystals.
Imagine what kind of power a single bullet worth tens of thousands in the real world would have—probably no less than a high-powered hand grenade!
Ordinary bullets had very little effect on the trajectory of Burial of Light and Darkness’s shots, yet the Nen bullet Pakunoda fired in haste could knock aside Burial of Light and Darkness’s bullet. This woman’s strength was evident. As for Pakunoda, she didn’t overthink it; she was just slightly surprised by Qin Lun’s excellent marksmanship.
The reason Pakunoda wanted to stall for time earlier was that she subconsciously viewed Qin Lun as a Nen user of the same level as herself, even elevating him in her mind to the level of Leader Kuroro. It never occurred to her that the young man was actually no match for her at all.
In reality, apart from the other Serial Killer, Firecracker Rand, who was familiar with Qin Lun’s background, even Kurapika and Melody, who had seen Qin Lun in action, didn’t realize that the young man’s own strength was completely outclassed by the Troupe members.
The Phantom Troupe had repeatedly suffered setbacks at Qin Lun’s hands, and even though these people were extremely proud, they didn’t think this enemy could be taken lightly. Even Zeno and Silva accepted Qin Lun’s instructions, which also involved some unconscious acknowledgment of his strength on their part.
“Whoosh!” Kurapika looked serious, paying no attention to the bullet Pakunoda shot at him. While still in the air, he flicked his right hand, and the Chain Jail on his middle finger shot toward Shizuku with a piercing sound.
“Boom!” Shizuku leaped into the air, avoiding the chain, but a trace of surprise soon appeared on her dull face.
The wire fence under her feet, struck by Kurapika’s chain, actually let out a loud bang. A section over ten meters long completely shattered into pieces. Tiny iron fragments scattered like cannon shrapnel, cutting several tears in her jeans.
“Be careful of that chain!” A light flashed in Pakunoda’s eyes, and she immediately recalled what Kuroro had warned them about.
Kuroro had strangely insisted that the one who captured Shalnark might not be Qin Lun, but this Chain User called Kurapika. From this attack, it seemed the Troupe Leader was clearly correct—the boy before them was also an enemy who couldn’t be ignored.
“Bang!” Pakunoda fired a shot at Qin Lun, while simultaneously moving closer to Shizuku, so the two maintained a distance where they could support each other.
Seeing this, Qin Lun was slightly surprised. Although Kurapika’s abilities hadn’t been revealed publicly, it now appeared that the Phantom Troupe had already anticipated something. If they kept this distance, Kurapika obviously couldn’t take down one of them quickly. The longer this dragged on, the more danger they were in.
“Hehe!” Qin Lun’s eyes shifted. While firing at Pakunoda, he moved away from Kurapika. With the graceful movement of Swift Wind Step, he quickly ran sideways for several dozen meters, as if with the slightest lapse in attention, he would abandon his companion and escape alone.
“Hmph, young man, your companion is about to abandon you!” Pakunoda frowned slightly and sneered scornfully.
“That’s just the kind of person he is!” Kurapika remained unmoved and said calmly, “If you don’t chase him now, I guarantee you won’t get another chance to catch him.”
“Paku…” A rare trace of anger appeared on Shizuku’s usually blank, pretty face as she called to her companion, “I can handle him. You go quickly!”
“Then be careful!” Pakunoda gave a hesitant glance at Kurapika, gritted her teeth, and chased after Qin Lun, who was still running further away.
