Days as a Spiritual Mentor in American Comics Chapter 6229: The Stars' Pact (End)
Previously on Days as a Spiritual Mentor in American Comics...
The Ancient Ones made their stance clear: We are Earth’s ancient creatures. We had a score with an entity on Earth before humans appeared. Now we’re here to settle it. If humans can help, then help. If not, stay out of the way and don’t hinder our revenge.
The human race was beyond shocked. Or rather, after the initial shock, their penchant for gossip was awakened. The two most common phrases spreading across all mainstream and non-mainstream media, even word of mouth, were “Who?” and “What’s the matter?”
In this age, given the insufficient research on the cosmos, many people assume the existence of aliens. Therefore, the arrival of aliens on Earth wasn’t particularly surprising. What shocked them was that these alien beings claimed to be the original inhabitants of Earth and were looking for trouble with other races.
Yet humans wondered, if these guys truly lived on Earth billions of years ago, the dinosaurs are already extinct, isn’t it a bit late to come looking now? If you want us to hand over a couple of Tyrannosaurus Rex, all we have are fossils.
The real bombshell was when the Ancient Ones revealed a brief history of themselves to humans, pointing out that their enemies aren’t extinct but disguised as humans, mingling in human society, ready to poison human genes and lead humanity to extinction.
This was hitting the snake right on its vital spot. If you say the enemies are, say, Sabretooth or Tyrannosaurus Rex, humans would only find it amusing. But if you say the enemies are humanoid, another type of human among us, humans would immediately believe it. Surely we have traitors among us.
That’s why human history is essentially a large-scale game of Werewolf, each era searching for the traitor. Now within human civilization, there’s word of traitors, and the blame must first be shifted elsewhere, followed by a brutal cleanse of our own.
However, the timing is quite intriguing. Several countries are conspiring to start a world war, and some have already acted. Now you tell me there might be traitors among us, so is it those who start the war who are the traitors or those refusing to start one?
Both sides, of course, argue endlessly, each wanting to use this as a pretext to blame the other. It doesn’t matter who the aliens want; clearing out traitors in order to purge opponents is most crucial. It doesn’t matter who the aliens ultimately kill; it matters who they can kill now.
It’s those countries with the most severe internal conflicts that were the first to seize the opportunity, stepping out to accuse their opponents of being human traitors, demanding the aliens strike them down with lightning instantly.
Then, the Ancient Ones updated us with a batch of information. This time it was regarding Nya. They released the information they’ve gathered and what Brainiac disclosed to them about Nya to humanity unchanged.
All the information they revealed was true, backed with evidence, with no random fabrication. Although the sources were diverse and not necessarily events from this cosmos, Nya wasn’t wronged.
Now the atmosphere became somewhat delicate. Clearly, devils like Nya excel at inciting chaos.
Simply put, it’s sowing discord, watching fires from across the river, scheming and conniving, a cunning rabbit with three burrows. Order is their greatest enemy, and their lifelong pursuit is to create chaos, wishing the world could be thrown into turmoil.
Back then, the Ancient Ones also became embroiled in endless wars. One could say this race was dragged down by war. Had they not fought so many external wars and focused on developing their technology, even with bodily degeneration, they could have continued developing with external aids. It’s hard to say this wasn’t Nya’s handiwork; this is exactly what he excels at doing.
Therefore, it can be deduced that the chaos currently seen in human society also has a shadow of Nya behind it. Although Shiller knows it’s unfair to blame Nya, humans would still fight without Nya, but since we need to solve the problem now, we can only first find someone to take the blame.
Governments worldwide see this as a great way to shift internal conflicts. No matter what issues arise domestically, it’s the work of evil aliens. Bread price hikes, wage decreases, government inaction—it’s all Nya.
Under the guidance of the governments, Nya naturally became a target for everyone to rally against. Everyone hoped that once this culprit was caught, they would have better days, thus they became more proactive.
At this critical moment, one particular country found itself in an awkward position. Just after launching an attack, the aliens arrived, and the information on Nya highlighted that this Evil God especially loves to incite wars.
But there’s no retreat after releasing the bowstring. It was too late to pull back after they started, and they’re inherently stubborn, believing this was just a Western World fabrication, trying to sit tight and hike prices, so they disregarded everything, even boasting recklessly—and testing proves fatal.
The Ancient Ones and cat swarms originally intended to stay out of human domestic affairs, but with the words pushed so far and racing towards Nya’s follower style, it was hard not to consider the possibility. After all, as the saying goes, shoot the bird that takes the lead—investigation is necessary to know for sure.
When cosmic jellyfish appears in the sky of any country, it’s as destructive as an atomic bomb. While only two nukes were dropped historically, dozens of cosmic jellyfish appeared, each several hundred meters long, just hovering over cities—who wouldn’t tremble in fear?
The jellyfish weren’t here to scare but were genuinely searching for Nya. The Ancient Crystal had a certain spiritual protection capacity, with cat swarms providing escort—today they must battle Nya to relieve their deep-seated resentment.
Indeed, their appearance was quite terrifying, and not just one or two, but a horde, many armed to the teeth, looking unmistakably like high-tech sapient beings—their collective descent appeared much like the end of the world.
Ironically, this spooked the military-statist believers who already had little reason, instantaneously triggering their emergency response, and they declared open fire.
This firmly established them as followers of Nya. Yet, the Ancient Ones were generally friendly towards humans, fearing that a massacre would affect relations between the two sides, so they immediately erected a Shield, isolating the area. This was for thorough carpet-searching to avoid innocent casualties.
With this, humanity’s attitude immediately turned to plead for mercy. There’s no Evil God believer—where did you see one? Aren’t we the harmonious and loving human community? We just completed a remarkable geographical discovery together—go check it out at the South Pole!
Miskatonic University naturally took on the heavy responsibility of communicating with the aliens. To say it was communication is generous; the Squids barged into the school brazenly to pet cats when the Jellyfish weren’t around and talked more to the cats than to the people.
Governments around the world were stumped. Why even consider starting a fire you can’t put out? If you strike, the other side would likely stay on Earth for at least a year. Then how are we supposed to take action?
Countries that initially planned for war had no choice but to abandon their plans. This thing doesn’t look like something that can be defeated. If you charge ahead, they’ll treat you as a follower of the Evil God, and you’ll have nowhere to cry about it.
However, the internal conflicts within countries must also be resolved. After all, with aliens watching, it’s not wise to overdo anything outrageous. They could only concede some benefits to alleviate the living conditions of the lower class, stalling for time to get through this period.
But Shiller knew this was akin to drinking poison to quench thirst for the privileged class. There’s a saying, if I had never seen the light, I could have borne the darkness. Once the people see what the government is capable of doing while the aliens linger on Earth, they’d immediately realize that many things aren’t as difficult as politicians claim. They’d understand they could have lived better lives. Once people have such thoughts, many things become intolerable, and the backlash would be even more intense.
With the arrival of the aliens, Earth’s situation entered a bizarrely stable period. At this time, good news also came from deep in the stars. Iron Man had reached an agreement with Yog.
Yog was indeed very interested in information stream technology and expressed willingness to invest. As for cosmic security issues, according to Iron Man, Yog’s original words were roughly “If you can dismantle our universe, then you’re impressive.”
When Brainiac reached deep in the stars, he immediately discovered that the place was very abnormal. His detection revealed that the concentration of Dark Matter here was more than 600 billion times that of the universe he came from. Even God would have to marvel at the wonders of nature, and having life there is simply a miracle.
This also means that the magnitude of any high-energy reaction would be infinitely compressed. Even Marvel’s Demon Gods might not be able to cause a bang, Reed would have to consider cranking up the power to the maximum. Simply put, it’s a cesspool, anyone coming here could only struggle.
Iron Man’s previous maneuvers were essentially out of desperation. Because there was no usable thermal energy, everything was cold, and the scientists’ hearts were also chilled to the core.
On the flip side, this place was simply a paradise for Electronic Life. Brainiac took a plunge into the cesspool and was swimming happily. The inert cosmos was great, no more worries about server cooling issues. Although the operational efficiency had greatly decreased, with abundant resources, they could just pile on the volume.
Moreover, the speed of object reproduction was indeed faster, it wasn’t Brainiac’s illusion. It almost had no delay. Given enough resources, some less complex objects could be reproduced instantly, using significantly less resources.
Consequently, Brainiac directly joined the cold family of the Outer God. He asked Yog for a room, though calling it a room was an understatement, the space was infinite, you could not see where the walls were. Then he began constructing the largest server room within the observable universe.
Shiller couldn’t quite grasp what level of megastructure Brainiac intended to build, so he went to ask Iron Man. Iron Man hesitated for a moment and then said, “If he can complete it, it might become the fourth Pillar God.”
“Isn’t that a bit too massive?” Shiller said, “And what if Nya takes a fancy to it? He’s known for swooping in to claim the credit.”
“Yog wants this too, he won’t let Nya reach out,” Iron Man said, “But more than that, you should really research what exactly he plans to do with this stuff.”
“As I see it, he wants to build an amusement park.”
Iron Man looked at him puzzled. Shiller said, “He always wanted to construct a gaming platform that surpasses Battleworld, if he really boosts computing power to this level, perhaps he can indeed achieve it.”
“But, what’s this gaming platform for?” Iron Man was still puzzled.
“Reality,” Shiller said, “What Brainiac wants is to create reality.”
“Why does he want to do that?”
“Electronic Life have no community. Each appears similar but you could say they’re completely different species. They have no civilization, no history. Perhaps because of this, Brainiac is more interested in ‘the past.'”
“Whose past?”
“Mine and everyone else’s.”
“Yours?”
“He’s particularly interested in my past, maybe because there’s a part of my past that he can’t investigate no matter what.”
“Oh? Then I’m also very interested, could you tell me about it?”
