The cats enjoyed a hearty meal aboard the ship, feasting on special dishes prepared for them. Later, when an intruder, Reck, attempted to infiltrate the ship, the three cats, Shiller, Peter, and Little Superman, sprang into action, overwhelming him and forcing his retreat. The incident was mostly dismissed by the students and Professor Atwood, but the cats remained vigilant. Upon returning to the base, the cats were surprised to find Constantine awake and aware of an attack on a student at the base, revealing that the threat was not confined to the ship.

"Did you drive him back?" Little Superman asked.

"Sort of," Constantine replied. "The student is fine, but that guy ran off. It’s too cold outside, so I didn’t chase him. Did you guys bring him here?"

Shiller scrutinized Constantine, doubting that Constantine alone could repel a Shugos. Their success in the cabin wasn’t solely due to Nya’s powers; it was also because of the sheer number of people on the ship.

It seemed that the Origin Shugos didn’t want to confront so many people, perhaps fearing exposure of its transformation ability or simply unable to win. It retreated because the students had awakened and could soon call the sailors, plus there were plenty of firearms on board. It might have fled in panic due to uncertainty in its victory.

However, now at the base, there were hardly any people, not even one sailor; most were young students, and the student who went to get samples was alone. Against one student and a cat, the Shugos had no reason to back down again; this was likely its last chance to blend in, and it should want to silence both the student and the cat.

Unfortunately, Constantine was not easy to deal with. In his original cosmos, he was Nya’s designated writer. Notice, they were partners, but Constantine was neither a follower nor a believer of Nya, nor had he ever used Nya’s power, implying he had other hidden skills to negotiate with Nya.

Since he came here, Constantine had been mostly eating and sleeping, which was unusual for him. Constantine should be a very vigilant person; otherwise, he wouldn’t have survived amidst so many Demons. In a new environment, he should be more alert. Back in the jungle, he wasn’t like this; ever since arriving in the material world, he hadn’t been fully awake.

However, Constantine was unwilling to talk, and the others tacitly avoided questioning him. The Shugos had hit a hard wall, and its infiltration plan failed; what it intended to do next was uncertain.

Shiller started to worry about the Ancient Ones. On one hand, a group of Ancient Ones, seemingly followers of Nya, were active in the mountains, appearing to be crazed. On the other hand, Reck might want to find other Humans; the Professors with the Ancient Ones could become Reck’s targets, with unknown progress on the Revival plan.

After pondering, Shiller decided to go over and take a look. He planned to send one cat and have the other three cats stay at the base to guard against another attack by Reck.

Shiller set off after resting a bit. He headed toward the Weddell Sea and, with no Humans around, utilized the flying function of the Bat Equipment, flying directly toward his destination.

Flying at a higher altitude, initially just to discern direction, Shiller encountered some suspicious traces when passing the mountains. They somewhat resembled blood but differed from Human blood. He immediately halted and tracked towards the traces.

After flying over a peak, he saw several Ancient Ones crouched near the rock wall, having the same body type as the previously deceased Ancient One—a severely degenerated version. One of them had half its body torn, one wing missing, with a tentacle below in bloody shreds, continuously emitting a buzzing lament.

Something was hunting them, making Shiller wonder—could it be like in the original story, where Reck met the Ancient Ones?

Considering this, he didn’t rush to leave but flew to hide behind the rock face, aware of the millions of years of conflict between Shugos and the Ancient Ones. The Ancient Ones had suppressed them many times, only to be ultimately wiped out; thus they surely understood one another, and Reck likely had means to track them.

As expected, after around ten minutes, a figure appeared on the other side of the rock wall. The Ancient Ones seemed extremely terrified, waving their tentacles in an attempt to escape, yet Reck turned into a mass of mucus again, surging toward them.

This time in an open terrain with bright lighting, Shiller was able to more clearly observe Shugos’ form. As described in the original work, it was a nightmare-like glossy shape with amorphous primordial ooze, containing numerous luminous eye-like structures, resembling a diluted tar mass, filled with indescribable terror.

Yet, Shiller didn’t feel afraid, only slightly puzzled. Shugos used its spreading tentacles to pierce the Ancient Ones’ bodies, but didn’t devour them, uncertain if it lacked the capability or didn’t wish to. In any case, it killed the Ancient Ones quickly, evidently well-aware of their weaknesses.

Shiller watched for a while, then flew away again. He needed to notify the Ancient Ones in the sea, flying a distance along the direction of the Weddell Sea until he saw a Pentagram-shaped grave. By then, the graves had been unearthed, leaving only the base beneath, clearly showing the smooth progress of the Revival work. The veterans in there should already be revived.

They didn’t even need to use fire pits for thawing as before, merely digging out the ice blocks and tossing them into the sea sufficed, with the Ancient Ones in the sea naturally guiding their kin into suitable water temperatures, allowing them to catch food immediately upon waking to regain physical strength.
