After a colossal beast departed, the two cats, Shiller and Peter, scavenged for food amidst the carnage. They secured a bird, a guinea pig, and a centipede, but faced the challenge of finding water. Shiller proposed collecting rainwater using processed leaves. Later, they stored their food, with Peter and Constantine securing the centipede in a tree hollow. Shiller, intrigued by a glowing centipede's unusual, artificial-looking lair, attempted to investigate but was forced to flee. The centipede pursued him, leading to a tense chase through the trees and bushes. Exhausted, Shiller hid, only for the ground to tremble again, signaling a new threat. He retreated to the safety of the tree, contemplating the activation of his innate ability if another crisis arose. The next morning, Shiller awoke to find the rain had stopped and Little Superman grooming him, offering a piece of the centipede.

It’s quite amazing that none of these people have any psychological resistance to eating insects, they don’t even need to prepare themselves mentally.

Shiller bit into the centipede’s abdomen, and all he felt was one thing: it was really delicious.

The texture of insects is indeed different from other animals. The shell is crunchy, and the insides don’t have the texture of meat, it’s somewhat similar to a kind of starchy fluid. There’s almost no fishy taste, and it has a natural protein aroma, with an undertone of earthiness. Overall, it’s extremely tasty.

Shiller might have been hungry as well; he devoured it happily, even the legs of the centipede were not spared, he basically chewed them all. After finishing, he took a deep breath and slowly crawled to the entrance of the cave to take a look outside. The rain had stopped, but there was significant rainfall this time, and you could still see small streams on the ground. The animals, having been hungry all day, had no choice but to go out to hunt. In the bushes alone, there were many shadows jumping around, likely small mammals, possibly even felines.

Little Superman also crawled to the edge of the cave entrance. He said with some emotion, "I didn’t expect to adapt to being a wild animal so well. I even feel that living here is much better than in human society. I don’t have to worry about so many things, I just have to survive."

"It’s only for this period of time."

Shiller did not express agreement; he simply said, "Once you’ve stayed long enough, you’ll find it boring. After all, there’s basically nothing entertaining here. If you just eat and sleep, it won’t take long to feel tired of it."

Little Superman sighed as well, "I feel like human society doesn’t need me at all. Actually, I don’t want to live with them, but I have nowhere to go. Among the many people I know, only Batman seriously helped me look for a home, but unfortunately, he didn’t find it, and he’s missing himself."

"He’ll return eventually," Shiller said. "As for your home, just keep looking. Time flows differently between different universes. In your case, it’s very likely that when you find your way back, only a few days will have passed."

"Will my parents worry about me too..." Little Superman took a deep breath, seemingly feeling he had complained enough, he asked, "Did you find any clues? Where might Iron Man be hiding?"

Shiller shared yesterday’s findings with him, then said, "But that place is relatively far and dangerous, we can’t explore deeply for now, let’s focus on building up the base first."

"Then why don’t we move to a place closer to it?" Little Superman asked, "That way, we wouldn’t need to travel so far back and forth, and it would be less dangerous."

"It’s hard to find a base that’s both safe and comfortable," Shiller said, "I keep saying, don’t overestimate yourself, exploration is something you do after surviving."

Little Superman still seemed confused, he was about to ask when the ground began to shake again. This time it was more severe than before, Little Superman even had to grip the walls of the tree hole tightly, Shiller’s expression turned serious too. It didn’t feel like the footsteps of a giant creature, more like some kind of natural disaster.

He began to worry about their two team members outside. Peter had been hunting for two consecutive days, his stamina might not be enough, Constantine also had no particular expertise in this area. If they got trapped, they could be in danger.

But at this moment, he himself was in a precarious position, he and Little Superman hid in the tree hole, unable to get out. Shiller still forced himself to crawl to the entrance, looking outside, and witnessed a shocking scene: monstrous waves swept through with an irresistible force, washing over the land below.

Their tree hole was very high, almost thirty meters off the ground, about the height of a ten-story building. Yet the wave reached at least a dozen meters high, around five or six stories tall, resembling a tsunami. Fortunately, their tree hole was on the back side, so even if there were waves, they couldn’t get inside, no water entered.

Miraculously, the plants on the ground weren’t washed away, at most they lost some leaves, indicating that their roots were very sturdy and deeply rooted. It also suggests that floods might be common natural disasters here, and the flora and fauna have evolved ways to cope with it.

Not long after, the other two cats returned. The good news was nobody was hurt, the bad news was Constantine was completely soaked, looking like he got drenched by the flood.

From what they said, Shiller learned that the terrain here was relatively low-lying, beyond lay uphill areas, possibly part of a tributary of a large river, the recent flood was due to a burst upstream. But because it gets washed regularly, everyone can hide quickly, avoiding any widespread disaster.

Constantine was a bit slower, got hit by a wave, ending up like this. Now he must dry off quickly or risk hypothermia come nighttime.

After Peter went to rest, Shiller climbed upward with Constantine. The growth of fungi is limited, at least twenty meters from the treetop, there was no foothold. Shiller looked up and said, "We need to climb up in one go, can you manage?"

"Of course." Constantine snorted lightly, shaking off some water, "In terms of being an animal, my experience far exceeds yours."
