Days as a Spiritual Mentor in American Comics Chapter 5730 - 4753: X Royal Family: Fierce Battle (20)

This statement caused the others to knit their brows, finding it utterly nonsensical. Captain America pursed his lips and then inquired, "Tony, I understand you're reluctant to admit defeat. However, we genuinely..."
The Iron Man from the Main Universe closed his eyes and shook his head, responding, "Different superhero lives, varying levels of advanced technology, that peculiar doctor – these are merely superficial manifestations. Previously, that was the extent of our perception."
Hawkeye appeared to be in deep thought. He then voiced his observation, "We haven't had extensive dealings with them and remain unfamiliar, only grasping the surface-level aspects."
"Precisely. However, after interacting with the Iron Man from the Central Universe, I've come to realize that the differences in our outward appearances are trivial when contrasted with our fundamental similarities."
This declaration carried a hint of arrogance, considering the significant disparities in those so-called 'insignificant' outward forms. Nonetheless, they trusted Iron Man's judgment and refrained from questioning his assertion, choosing instead to listen intently.
"The similarity lies in how we transformed one another through love, subsequently reshaping the entire world together," the Main Universe Iron Man stated, gazing at them. "In this regard, nearly every Avenger across all universes shares this commonality. The Central Universe is no exception."
"Then why do they exhibit such distinct behaviors? Is it due to an extraordinary abundance of their love?" Black Widow questioned, finding the argument somewhat lacking.
"Because they influenced Shiller, and Shiller, in turn, influenced them," the Main Universe Iron Man explained. "Shiller is indeed a pivotal element; his unique characteristics forged the distinct identity of the Central Universe. Yet, his differences from us are not the crucial factor. What truly matters is his resemblance to us all – that he, too, can be changed by the affection of his friends."
A moment of collective silence ensued. The Main Universe Iron Man continued his explanation, posing a hypothetical, "Consider a randomly named super-genius in a particular universe. What determines the kind of transformation they would bring to that universe?"
"Perhaps it does hinge on the magnitude of their capabilities. Greater power might lead to a more profound alteration of the universe, fostering superior development. However, ultimately, it depends on the specific focus of their talents. After all, can the power to shape a universe not also be wielded for its destruction?"
"Shiller is precisely this way. The manifestation and potency of his abilities are not the primary drivers behind the Central Universe's current state. The fundamental reason is that he possesses a circle of friends who inspired change in him, motivating him to improve the universe. Otherwise, how can we be certain the Central Universe wouldn't descend into chaos, much like some universes teetering on the brink of collapse?"
"I comprehend," Captain America declared with solemn resolve. "Regardless of one's life stage, an individual remains receptive to education and change. In youth, this influence comes from family and mentors; during adulthood, it stems from friendships. Whether a person channels their talents toward justice or malevolence hinges on the nature of the influences they encounter."
"Rather, the very fact that he is susceptible to the influence of friends represents one of his core similarities with us," Black Widow interjected. "It mirrors our own experiences. The Avengers team profoundly impacted us, strengthening our emotional bonds and ultimately shaping us into a superhero collective, rather than a cabal of supervillains. Individuals capable of being changed by love are inherently more inclined to tread the path of righteousness."
"Such a profoundly literary sentiment from a noble lady," Hawkeye couldn't help but exclaim. "That very sentence deserves a place at the conclusion of 'War and Peace' or 'Crime and Punishment'."
The others readily concurred. Black Widow simply offered a faint smile, placed a hand on the back of the sofa, and rose, remarking, "Thank you for indulging an old woman's discourse."
Hawkeye pondered, his thumb pressed against his lower lip, "Are you suggesting our prior suspicions were unwarranted, and they pose no actual danger?"
"By no means," the Main Universe Iron Man's tone shifted dramatically. "Shiller and the entire Central Universe are indeed exceptionally dangerous. However, precisely because they, much like us, are shaped and transformed by their companions, we should refrain from meeting them with hostility and suppression."
"Hold on," the Main Universe Spider-Man suddenly interjected. "Are you only now realizing they are, in essence, human?"
"It's a formidable challenge, Peter," Dr. Banner stated wryly. "Consider it a significant breakthrough. Interventionists typically, when confronted with the unfamiliar or novel, first perceive them as either weapons or beasts. Their default response is to either fashion equivalent deterrents or to eliminate them outright. Facilitating their recognition that their adversaries are, in fact, emotional, idealistic beings like themselves is exceedingly difficult."
"It sounds somewhat like..." The Spider-Man of this main universe remained silent, his gaze fixed on Captain America’s Stars and Stripes attire. Captain America offered a subtle, menacing look but refrained from a verbal retort. Spider-Man took this as a reminder not to associate him with the United States Government.
Nevertheless, this muted threat had no effect on Black Widow. A cold laugh escaped her lips. Captain America immediately turned towards her, inquiring, "What do you find amusing?"
His unspoken implication was clear: "How are you any better?" Yet, to everyone’s surprise, Black Widow was unfazed. She took a seat on the opposite side, crossed her legs, rested an elbow on the armrest, and pressed her fingers to her temple, stating, "The Soviet Union’s disintegration began when it ceased to see other nations as allies but rather as instruments and voting blocs."
Her words left Captain America speechless. The Soviet Union had indeed faced the consequences of such actions, while the primary instigator continued to thrive, shamelessly, even more so than before. This reality prevented him from confronting the issue as directly as Black Widow had.
"Let us return to the matter at hand," Thor, who had little interest in human political affairs and had remained quiet until now, interjected, steering the conversation back. "How progresses your request for assistance from the Central Universe?"
The Iron Man of the main universe shook his head, replying, "No aid is required."
"Do you possess an alternative strategy, then?"
He shook his head once more, answering, "I am convinced this invasion is linked to Shiller. Therefore, the inhabitants of the Central Universe will not permit Shiller’s actions to bring about Earth’s demise. Even without our plea for aid, they will resolve the issue."
"I am being serious," Dr. Banner couldn't restrain himself, exclaiming, "Is Earth merely a plaything for you lunatics?"
"Oh, heavens!"
"Please refrain from such language!"
"There are children present!"
"Bruce!"
All eyes shifted away, an unspoken wish to feign ignorance. However, beyond The Hulk persona, Dr. Banner himself was not known for his patience. He declared, "I have never found myself in greater agreement with Doctor Strange. Regardless of how many more tumultuous rounds you madmen wish to endure, my sole intention is to fulfill my responsibilities, and I am doing so at this very moment."
With that declaration, he departed. Notably, he was the least harmed among them, his physical form entirely intact, and The Hulk was also largely unharmed. Consequently, no one attempted to detain him.
Spider-Man rubbed his head and stated, "I must personally verify this with Iron Man from the Central Universe. After all, relying solely on Earth’s defense measures is not as reassuring as ensuring absolute safety."
Before anyone could react, he vanished in a blur. The few remaining in the room let out a collective sigh.
"What is the meaning of this?" Thor placed his hammer upon the coffee table, spreading his hands wide. "Have we descended into abnormal, derelict cowards?"
Silence met his question, none daring to respond. Thor bore the brunt of the main cannon strike directly to his chest, the wound still emanating a potent scent of blood.
"Ensuring Earth’s safety is not my immediate priority," Main Universe Iron Man declared. "I need to locate Stephen. If we delay until tomorrow, all will be lost."
Captain America gestured for him to proceed, though these two often collaborated, their interventionist ideologies shaping team decisions. A schism between them was unthinkable.
Captain America understood Doctor Strange’s temperament well. If provoked and angered, he might maintain outward composure due to his position, but he could harbor resentment privately. Thus, reconciliation was paramount; a significant rift would be irreparable if not addressed promptly.
Since Thor’s injuries were more severe, he retired to rest. Hawkeye departed to restock his equipment. Only Captain America and Black Widow, both now empty-nesters, remained. Captain America busied himself preparing two sandwiches.
"Stephen is genuinely furious this time," Black Widow remarked. "I have never witnessed him address Tony with such harshness."
"Nor has he spoken to us in such a manner," Captain America replied, handing her a sandwich. He took a bite of his own, chewed thoughtfully, and added, "Tony has utterly incensed him. But he brought it upon himself. Stephen’s hands have always been a sensitive subject for him..."
"I had believed he had moved past it," Black Widow mused, pausing before continuing, "but upon reflection, how easily can one truly let go?"
"Fortunately, the surgery proved successful," Captain America stated. "I believe this could instill a measure of confidence in him. If Tony can mend the situation, perhaps he might indeed resume his surgical career."
"Then our fate is sealed," Black Widow chuckled, adding, "We will once again be tasked with retrieving him from the opulent circles of New York society."
Captain America puffed out his cheeks, joining her laughter.
Perched atop the dome of the Fierce Feather Star Palace, Doctor Strange found himself engrossed in contemplation, his cape billowing dramatically in the wind. His introspection was abruptly halted by the arrival of Shiller behind him.
Turning his head, Strange's hand instinctively went to the Eye of Agomoto. Noticing it was merely Shiller, a sigh of weary resignation escaped him. "Why do you persist in masquerading as Mephisto?" he inquired, a hint of helplessness in his tone.
"It is because you harbor certain misconceptions regarding Shiller," came the reply.
"Apparently, it is no misunderstanding," Doctor Strange retorted with a cold snort. "Who could have foreseen that you would lead the combined forces of the Three Great Empires in an invasion of the Solar System?"
"You are an accomplice in this as well," Shiller countered, reminding him, "You yourself just dispatched the Emperor of the Shi'ar Empire."
Doctor Strange’s gaze drifted into the distance. "I truly lost my head agreeing to assist you," he admitted.
"I typically refer to that as fate," Shiller stated. "Of course, I am not speaking of the fate between you and me, but rather between the Stephen Strange of our universe and myself. Individuals like us invariably find ourselves drawn together, with very little rationality guiding our interactions."
"Do you believe Tony will discern that it was not me?"
"Without a doubt," Shiller affirmed. "The two of you are simply too dissimilar. To fail to recognize that would be sheer blindness."
"In your universe, how do their relations stand?"
"No better than between the two of you," Shiller replied, shaking his head. "They are perpetually engaged in debates and comparisons between their mastery of technology and magic."
"How can that be?" Doctor Strange asked, displaying a degree of bewilderment. "How could external factors such as these possibly influence their relationship dynamics?"
"Do you genuinely believe it was my annotating medical records or fixing light bulbs that impacted their relationship?" Shiller retorted, rolling his eyes.
Pausing for a moment, Shiller continued, "If anything, perhaps it stems from the fact that both are so immensely successful that they find each other’s temperament unbearable."
