After narrowly escaping an ambush, Nanxing and a mute girl were rescued by helicopter. To cover their tracks, their companions staged a car "accident" to make their pursuers believe they had perished. Nanxing, having fainted from her injuries, awoke two weeks later to find herself safe and in Jing Tian's arms. She soon discovered she was pregnant, not with one child, but twins, who had been protected by Mr. Li and were nourished by her Phoenix blood, though their unusual nature remained a concern.

It turns out my confrontation with Lin Nan in the peony garden had inevitably affected my pregnancy. Fortunately, the two babies were incredibly resilient, and the Phoenix Blood within them provided the necessary protection, ultimately saving them, though the ordeal was perilously close.

Their inherent connection to the Phoenix blood meant my own self-healing capabilities were diminished. It was only due to the invaluable medicinal herbs provided by Mr. Li that I managed to hang on. The period of unconsciousness was, in fact, the Phoenix Blood actively healing me.

Turning my head, I gently stroked Jing Tian's face. "I slept soundly for half a month. Did you stay awake and rest the entire time with me?"

Jing Tian smiled, nuzzling his cheek against my palm. "I certainly didn't sleep or rest. I had to protect you and our babies."

I nodded in agreement. "We'll continue to depend on your protection. I'm so exhausted, and I can't risk using any superpowers anymore, or I might lose the babies again."

Jing Tian held me tighter. "I'm truly sorry. It's my fault for not protecting you better. You've been through another tribulation."

A shared sense of lingering dread washed over us, the difficult journey of survival and their hard-won togetherness leaving both of us deeply affected.

Jing Tian insisted I leave the wheelchair to greet everyone, stating that for his peace of mind, I needed to be within his sight. I wasn't sure whether to laugh or cry, but considering the babies and my own occasional impulsive actions, I found his request reasonable. It would bring comfort to both of us.

As soon as Jing Ni and Mai Qi saw me, they rushed forward, embracing me from either side, tears streaming down their faces. "Nanxing! Nanxing!"

Mai Qi's pregnancy was already evident, her figure accentuated by a slightly loose maternity dress.

Jing Ni, conversely, had lost noticeable weight, likely from overworking herself on my behalf again.

I patted their backs. "Alright, alright, stop crying! I want to see beautiful faces, not tear-streaked ones!"

Mai Qi playfully smacked my head. "Nonsense!"

"Hey! If you keep hitting my head, I might become even more foolish!" I exclaimed.

She wiped her tears and touched my forehead reassuringly. "You'll be alright. Don't worry."

I chuckled, then eyed her critically. "Your stomach isn't that large yet. Why are you wearing such a baggy dress?"

Mai Qi's expression soured.

Jing Ni, her tears dried, giggled. "Your little uncle was worried people wouldn't realize you're pregnant, so he had her wear that early to make a statement."

"Hmph!" Mai Qi turned her face away indignantly.

I couldn't help but laugh. This was reminiscent of my own wheelchair situation; my little uncle and Jing Tian certainly had their unique approaches to things.

"Where is Ye Qian?" I asked, noticing the absence of that familiar face, as well as my little uncle, cousin Mo, and Qu Hao.

Jing Tian guided me into the living room, and as we all settled down, he explained, "Today is Tong Zhuo's retrieval operation. Tong Le, Tong Mo, and Qu Hao are managing the outer defenses, while Ye Qian is overseeing the inner line. Even Mr. Li has joined them, concerned that Tong Zhuo might still have residual poison or other hidden dangers."

"You've managed to find Tong Zhuo?" I asked, surprised, my thoughts finally beginning to clear.

The three of them nodded in confirmation.

Jing Tian let out a breath. "After you disappeared, Tong Zhuo was our prime suspect. The network we had established prematurely shut down, only to be unexpectedly compromised by an unknown group. Tong Zhuo and his associates managed to slip away again, resulting in significant losses for us. It was then we realized there must be a mole within our ranks. Our plans and security measures were evidently known to the enemy. However, it didn't seem like Tong Zhuo himself was the orchestrator. During that period, we found ourselves in a very defensive position."
