Chen Nan and the Divine Calculator descend into the Heavenly Cutting Abyss. After their protective pills wear off, they face extreme cold and powerful winds, forcing Chen Nan to use all his spiritual fires to survive. While questioning how the Demon Clan navigates such harsh conditions, they are struck by a brutal Gang Wind that severely injures Chen Nan.

Sound of rushing wind filled the air. Chen Nan’s forehead was slick with cold sweat, his heart thrumming with apprehension. Had it not been for his exceptionally robust physique, he would have surely been shredded by the fierce Gang Wind. He then recalled the Divine Calculator by his side. Swiftly turning his head, he observed the Divine Calculator frozen in an expression of extreme pain, his body similarly afflicted with injuries. Because the Divine Calculator resided in the Nascent Soul Realm, his wounds appeared less severe than Chen Nan's, yet they clearly caused him unbearable agony. Upon regaining consciousness, he let out a pained cry. “Oh no, I nearly perished! We absolutely cannot continue this way. I believe we must seek an alternative path!” The Divine Calculator immediately voiced his desire to retreat. Chen Nan let out a helpless sigh and retrieved a Healing Pill from his storage bag, consuming it in one swift motion. The potent effects of the medicine transformed into a faint emerald luminescence, enveloping his injuries and initiating their gradual mending. “The atmospheric currents above the Heavenly Cutting Abyss are saturated with this intense Gang Wind. Beyond persevering towards the abyss's depths, we have no other recourse.” Contemplating the relentless Gang Wind that permeated the upper reaches of the Heavenly Cutting Abyss, a tremor of dread coursed through him, and he felt a surge of gratitude for not having attempted to brave it directly. As they ventured further down into the abyss, the Gang Wind's ferocity noticeably diminished. It ceased its continuous assault, manifesting instead in intermittent bursts that they could effectively evade. Chen Nan deployed his Divine Sense, but the oppressive darkness seemed to absorb it, constricting its range to approximately three zhang around him. Despite this limitation, Chen Nan experienced a measure of relief. This limited range at least afforded him sufficient warning to dodge the onslaughts. The Divine Calculator, recalling the ceaseless Gang Wind above the Heavenly Cutting Abyss, shuddered profoundly and nodded vigorously in agreement, “Indeed, indeed, let us hasten onward!” They resumed their descent, though not with the same speed as before. Though they encountered several more instances of Gang Wind during their journey, they narrowly managed to evade them. However, Chen Nan's Divine Soul sustained significant damage. The Gang Wind possessed the ability to inflict harm not only on the physical body but also on the Divine Sense. The Divine Calculator had attempted to push through multiple times, narrowly avoiding a complete soul collapse, and thus Chen Nan had taken over the primary effort. They lost all track of time, uncertain of how long they had been descending, immersed in the perpetual darkness. Just as Chen Nan began to feel as though he might be lost in the gloom indefinitely, a brilliant light suddenly materialized ahead. In the pitch-black void, aside from the solitary flame they carried, nothing else was visible. The sudden appearance of this light brought the Divine Calculator to the brink of tears with sheer joy. “Chen Nan, do you see that? We have finally reached the bottom!” the Divine Calculator exclaimed, eagerly propelling himself towards the distant glimmer. Chen Nan offered a slight nod, his demeanor unruffled, as if all these developments were precisely as he had foreseen. Unbeknownst to him, he was teetering on the precipice of his limits, his heart also experiencing a profound stir. “We have finally arrived!” Both individuals discreetly increased their pace. At a particular juncture, they sensed the oppressive chill clinging to their bodies completely dissipate, as though they had ruptured some unseen barrier. However, a profound, intrinsic coldness began to emanate from within, sending shivers cascading down their spines. This chilling sensation differed from the external cold; it was not physical but psychological, as though all the vitality within their bodies had been leached away. They even felt an unnerving sensation, as if countless unseen eyes were fixed upon them from the shadows behind. Finally, the source of the light within the darkness became clear: it emanated from a city! Chen Nan glanced back towards their descent path, realizing they had emerged from a profound darkness that now seemed bifurcated, as distinct as heavy clouds adorning the sky. They had just broken through these “clouds” and arrived at the very bottom of the Heavenly Cutting Abyss, a realm entirely alien to the world above. The environment here was not as luminous as the exterior; sunlight was entirely absent. The ambient light originated from peculiar flora that flourished on the ground and the precipitous cliff faces, plants that possessed unusual forms and emitted a faint luminescence. These ethereal glows illuminated this subterranean expanse, affording them a rudimentary view of their surroundings. Upon observing these unique plants, Chen Nan’s brow furrowed. They appeared strikingly familiar, as if he had encountered them in a place he recalled from before. Even the surrounding landscape felt eerily familiar, evoking a sense of having visited a similar locale in the past. They alighted upon solid ground, the reassuring sensation of firmness finally returning. The Divine Calculator gazed towards the majestic city in the distance, clicking his tongue in sheer astonishment. The grand city before them resembled a colossal, ancient beast recumbent upon the earth. Its imposing gates and formidable walls bore a distinctly archaic design, appearing as relics of a bygone era. “Could it be that the Demon Clan erected this city deep below?” the Divine Calculator queried, his eyes wide with disbelief. Chen Nan responded with a wry, helpless smile, “They have only been dwelling down here for a short duration. How could they possibly construct such a city? I surmise this metropolis has stood here for eons.”

The Divine Calculator was even more astonished. "You mean to tell me there are living beings down here below the Heavenly Cutting Abyss? How could that possibly be?!"

Yet, even as he voiced his disbelief, he felt that something was not quite right.

Chen Nan offered a gentle smile, a look of calm acceptance on his face. "Perhaps it is so? It seems impossible to you only because the Heavenly Cutting Abyss is filled with bone-chilling air and Gang Wind, but none of that exists in this place."

The Divine Calculator nodded his head repeatedly. The darkness above and this subterranean realm now felt like two entirely separate worlds. Above, there was only extreme cold and fierce Gang Wind, while down here, there was nothing at all.

It seemed even ordinary people could reside here.

"Wonderful! Since it's not the Demon Clan, let's go and investigate!"

However, Chen Nan halted him, shaking his head. "Let's not be hasty. We know nothing of this place yet, and I harbor a bad premonition, especially concerning that city we see ahead."

Upon hearing this, the Divine Calculator grew more wary, quickly scanning his surroundings with a suspicious gaze. "Indeed, something feels off, though I can't quite put my finger on what it is."

Chen Nan also couldn't articulate the feeling, but one thing was certain: ever since they descended to the very bottom of the Heavenly Cutting Abyss, the Demon Suppressing Sword, stored within his Golden Core, had been trembling ceaselessly!

The Demon Suppressing Sword possessed a particular sensitivity to resentful souls, which were manifestations of evil spirits. Therefore, it would only react upon encountering such entities.

Given this unsettling reaction, even Chen Nan was unsure of the cause, compelling him to proceed with caution to avoid becoming ensnared in this sunless domain.

Meanwhile, the Divine Calculator produced his Compass, murmuring to himself as the needle spun erratically, even emitting a faint, blood-red glow.

"Can you actually divine fortunes?" Chen Nan inquired, surprised. He had always privately considered the Divine Calculator to be nothing more than a charlatan.

But after a moment, the Divine Calculator's fingers flew across the compass, his expression suddenly transforming!

"A place of immense misfortune, of colossal calamity!"

"This city is steeped in evil spirits; its Feng Shui..."
