Dashing Student Chapter 1355: The Son-in-law Visits

Ten Thousand Demon Sect.
Standing as the foremost faction within the Demon Path, the Ten Thousand Demon Sect commands a massive force of one hundred thousand disciples. The vast sect grounds are in a constant state of motion, bustling with fervent activity.
Beyond the lack of inhibition in their cultivation techniques, the daily life of this sect mirrors that of the Righteous Sects in many ways.
As Tu Susu descended from the skies accompanied by Chen Nan, curious whispers rippled through the gathered disciples below. Never had they witnessed their Holy Daughter bringing a man into their domain.
"Who is that man? Why has the Holy Daughter escorted him here personally?"
"Could he be her lover? How did none of us hear about this?"
"Our Holy Daughter actually has a partner? Who is he? I feel like killing him!"
A chorus of misery erupted among the male disciples. In their eyes, the Holy Daughter was a lotus bloom upon a snowy peak—to be marveled at from afar, but never possessed.
With their precious lotus now claimed, the devastation they felt was absolute.
High above, Chen Nan rubbed his nose and offered a rueful smile: "I suspect the disciples of the Ten Thousand Demon Sect are currently plotting my demise."
"Pay them no mind, as long as I am here," Tu Susu replied with a playful grin.
The pair touched down at the base of the tallest mountain and raced toward the peak, quickly arriving at the grand summit hall.
"At your age, to remain so reckless—what a shameful display!"
A booming, authoritative voice resonated from the hall's interior.
Chen Nan stepped forward to see a middle-aged man standing within. With hair divided between black and white, he retained a striking, charismatic presence. It was evident he must have been a man of great handsomeness in his youth.
Noticing the distinct facial resemblance to Tu Susu, Chen Nan deduced this was none other than the master of the sect, Tu Susu’s father, Tu Wanshan.
Chen Nan bowed respectfully, hands cupped: "Junior Chen Nan pays respects to Senior."
To his shock, the mention of his name triggered a crushing wave of pressure: "So you are the one called Chen Nan?"
"Are you the one who dared to elope with my daughter?"
Chen Nan groaned inwardly. The energy pressing down upon him felt like a monolithic mountain, growing heavier with every passing second and challenging his endurance.
Suddenly, Tu Susu darted forward, throwing her arms out to shield him: "Father, what are you doing? Had I known this, I would never have brought him here. Is this how you treat a guest?"
The suffocating pressure evaporated instantly as Tu Wanshan’s scowl melted into a warm, fatherly smile, showing no trace of his earlier hostility.
"Calm down, child. Father was just putting him to the test. If he were a weakling, how could he ever be worthy of you?"
Tu Susu snorted defiantly: "Since he is the man I have chosen, he is certainly no weakling; he is superior to them all!"
"Yes, yes, my daughter’s judgment is always impeccable."
Standing on the sidelines, Chen Nan felt speechless, never imagining that Tu Wanshan would be such an overly doting father.
Despite the presence of his daughter, Tu Wanshan continued to cast subtle glares at Chen Nan—a classic manifestation of a father-in-law eyeing his daughter's suitor with suspicion.
"Why have you come here?"
Chen Nan retrieved the Jade Scroll provided by Jiang Wuyue from his storage bag and presented it: "The Alliance Hierarch sent me to see if an alliance could be formed between us and the Demon Sect..."
"Oh? That old fool has finally had a change of heart?" Tu Wanshan seemed genuinely puzzled. He accepted the scroll and scanned it with his Divine Sense.
Moments later, he returned his gaze to Chen Nan, nodding thoughtfully: "The proposal has merit, but why should you assume our Demon Sect would agree to your terms?"
Chen Nan shook his head: "Our Righteous Alliance can promise nothing certain, but the threat posed by the Demon Clan is undeniable. That much is clear."
"For the Demon Sect to collaborate with the Demon Clan is to invite ruin upon yourselves. Senior, I implore you to weigh the consequences carefully."
The Demon Clan was powerful, yet they could not hope to battle both the Demon Sect and the Righteous Alliance at once, which explained their relentless efforts to fuel conflict between the two forces. Chen Nan knew Tu Wanshan understood this strategy well enough that further explanation was redundant.
"Hmph, you have guts to come here alone. The Righteous Alliance must place great faith in you," Tu Wanshan remarked with a tinge of sarcasm.
Tu Susu interrupted: "That’s not it at all. If my husband hadn't reached out to me first, they would have probably tried to have him killed."
Ignoring his daughter, Tu Wanshan squinted, his finger trembling as he gestured toward Chen Nan: "Husband? You two aren't even wed, and you already call him that? What could this brat possibly offer?"
"I don't care, I just adore him," Tu Susu stated obstinately.
Realizing that hiding behind his partner would only incur more disdain, Chen Nan stepped forward firmly.
"Senior, Susu and I are deeply in love. I humbly ask for your blessing."
"I have half a mind to swat you into oblivion!" Tu Wanshan grumbled, though it was clear he wouldn't strike.
"Enough of this. Settle your own affairs, but remember: if I find you have caused Susu even a moment of grief, I will hunt you to the ends of the earth!"
Delighted, Chen Nan bowed: "Senior, I vow that I will never let Susu down."
"See that you don't." Tu Wanshan let out a weary sigh: "As for the alliance, it is agreed."
The rapid shift in tone left Chen Nan stunned: "Is it that straightforward?"
"What more is there to say?" Tu Wanshan sneered: "The ambitions of the Demon Clan are not lost on me, even if I have remained silent."
"This time, we shall crush the Demon Clan entirely, ensuring they lack the power to return. A recurring war between human and demon is a tragedy the Demon Sect has no desire to witness."
Historically, the Demon Clan brought ruin to the lands through the 'Demonic Catastrophe,' feasting upon mankind with insatiable cruelty. It had taken the collective strength of human ancestors to eradicate them, and even now, the Demon Clan had recovered only a fraction of their ancient strength.
"I will inform the Elders of the sect to begin preparations. Return now and instruct Jiang Wuyue to do the same."
"Understood," Chen Nan replied, nodding.
Tu Susu expressed her worry once more: "But Husband killed Yi Mingzi; Master Canglan will definitely retaliate. Sending him back is practically sending him into a snare!"
"If he lacks the courage to face such threats, he is not the man for my daughter!" Tu Wanshan declared coldly.
Chen Nan offered a reassuring look: "Do not worry. Even if Master Canglan seeks my life, he requires a justifiable reason to act. My safety is secure for the time being."
"Very well. But if you face actual danger, contact me immediately, and I will force Father to intervene." Tu Susu squeezed his hand tightly.
Tu Wanshan felt a pang of sorrow; his precious flower, nurtured for centuries, was being plucked away, a feeling only a father could truly comprehend.
"Brat, if your business is concluded, leave at once. Do not linger in my sect."
Chen Nan chuckled to himself; Tu Wanshan was far from the merciless monster the rumors suggested.
"I understand clearly. I shall head back to the Righteous Alliance immediately to arrange our partnership."
