Daily life of a cultivation judge Chapter 1513: Rest well (2)

Following that line of reasoning, Yang Qing knew Assistant Director Jun Pei had to possess something the Order deemed uniquely suited to the position she held.
And if that was the case, then she was exactly the right person to engage with regarding the coin.
After all, as precious as the coin was, and as extraordinary as its history might be, if Yang Qing were given the choice between keeping it or trading it for Senior Blue Universe, Senior Green Cocoon, or Senior Veiled Destiny, he wouldn’t hesitate for even a moment to trade the coin for them.
Who wouldn’t trade the coin for the chance to don a robe that could effortlessly shield its wearer from the attacks of an early-stage Soul Formation expert? Not to mention that the spirit residing within the robe possessed knowledge of countless cultivation arts and Daos.
And if that wasn’t to your liking, would you hesitate to exchange the coin for a treasure capable of restoring you even after your body and soul had been blasted apart, leaving behind nothing but the faintest sliver of your essence?
Senior Green Cocoon could reverse such damage as though it had never happened.
Yang Qing was more than certain the Green Flame Tree, at her current stage, couldn’t accomplish such a feat. Perhaps she would one day, but for now it bordered on the impossible, especially if a powerful expert like a Soul Formation Expert had done the injury.
Even an attack from someone at the Domain Realm would be an uphill battle for her to overcome.
It wasn’t just her.
Even Yang Qing, with his cockroach-like tenacity and resilience, knew he wouldn’t recover if all that remained of him was a single drop of blood. He wasn’t even sure that, if only his head survived, he’d be capable of regenerating the rest of his body through his own abilities alone.
Then there was Senior Veiled Destiny.
Beyond her mystical and equally mesmerizing abilities that touched upon the illustrious Supreme Dao of Karma, counted amongst her astonishing capabilities that bordered on the unimaginable, was allowing a first-stage Palace Realm cultivator to wield the strength of a middle-stage Domain Realm expert, all without the slightest backlash.
How many treasures could accomplish something like that?
The coin certainly couldn’t.
At least, Yang Qing didn’t think it could. Or perhaps more accurately, he wasn’t sure it could.
That uncertainty was precisely why he had casually brought up the coin with Assistant Director Jun Pei. As someone entrusted with overseeing rare and extraordinary treasures such as Senior Blue Universe, Senior Green Cocoon, and Senior Veiled Destiny, Yang Qing didn’t think it presumptuous to assume she knew her way around treasures, especially the rare and mystical kind.
If he wanted to learn what an Ancestral Dragon’s jade crystal, or more specifically, what coin was capable of, then his best option was to consult the person whose duties brought her into regular contact with Saint-grade treasures, some of which were regarded as exceptional even among their own highly regarded ranks.
When Assistant Director Jun Pei disappeared from view, Yang Qing took a deep breath to calm his nerves before stepping into the black vortex.
His body was instantly swallowed.
The next moment, he found himself standing beneath an endless night sky filled with countless stars.
"You’ve come."
A woman’s voice drifted through the heavens, sounding as mystical and serene as the star-filled sky itself.
Before Yang Qing could respond, the night sky rippled and folded in on itself like a vast piece of cloth.
Or perhaps it truly had been one.
In its place stood a hooded figure with a slender frame.
At the same time, the boundless night sky and its countless stars gave way to an idyllic countryside hillside bathed in warm sunlight. Beside Yang Qing, two rocking chairs appeared along with a small table upon which rested a white jade teapot, two teacups, and an assortment of pastries.
"Senior," Yang Qing immediately said to the hooded figure whose face remained hidden. Looking beneath the hood was like staring into the endless night sky that had surrounded him moments before.
"Thank you for meeting me."
He cupped his fists and bowed slightly.
"You’ve changed since we last met," Veiled Destiny said warmly.
"Sit."
She gestured toward the rocking chair beside him.
"This isn’t a place for standing. It’s a place for relaxing."
Yang Qing nodded with a smile as he looked around the hill.
The gently swaying wheat fields, the slow-moving river winding around the hillside, the perfect warmth of the sun, the clear skies with soft clouds shaped like rabbits, the gentle breeze accompanied by the droning chorus of cicadas, the light buzzing of bees, and the softer rasping of katydids all drew a relaxed smile from him.
"That is true," Yang Qing said as he took his seat. "This is the kind of place that calls for relaxing."
His eyes widened in surprise the moment he settled into the wicker rocking chair.
It was, without question, the most comfortable thing he had ever sat on.
He couldn’t even begin to describe the level of comfort it offered. If someone told him to remain seated there for the next thousand years, that was one order Yang Qing would gladly obey, and perhaps even exceed. If he could cultivate, eat, and read without ever leaving the chair, he doubted if he’d ever move.
Yang Qing wondered as he swayed contentedly in the rocking chair, feeling both his body and soul drift as lazily as the soft clouds overhead.
"It’s really nice," he murmured drowsily, a serene smile spreading across his face.
"I am glad you like it," Veiled Destiny replied as she poured tea for both of them.
"You like Snow Jujube Tea, don’t you?" she asked as the pale crimson tea flowed from the white jade teapot into their cups.
Yang Qing nodded as he slowly opened his eyes, not even bothering to ask how Veiled Destiny knew his favorite tea, or how this landscape was exactly the place he dreamed of escaping to whenever he was driven to exhaustion by handling cases at the tower.
Whenever he daydreamed of retiring and relaxing, this was what it looked like.
Yang Qing thought after taking a sip.
It was the finest and most satisfying Snow Jujube Tea he had ever tasted.
"Thank you, Senior," Yang Qing said contentedly in a drifting whisper as he leaned back deeper into the rocking chair, sighing with a faint smile before slowly closing his eyes.
Without even realizing it, he drifted off to sleep.
"Rest for a bit, little one," Veiled Destiny whispered in her mystical voice as she gently set his rocking chair swaying.
"Rest well."
At her whisper, Yang Qing’s smile softened further, and the last traces of tension melted from his face.
"Old Lei..." he mumbled with a sleepy chuckle. "Your grandfather has finally peaked into retirement."
He chuckled softly before he drifted deeper into sleep.
Veiled Destiny watched the scene with an amused chuckle as she quietly sipped her tea.
