With him by her side, there is little else that needs to be stated. Even if Du Zundao or his Uncle Guan were to personally venture into the Ruins, a confrontation might still be possible. Furthermore, Han Ling’er is convinced that her Uncle Guan would never set foot inside the Ruins.
Since Uncle Guan did not originate from the path of cross-training, his martial prowess relies heavily on Gang Qi. Should he enter the Ruins, his capabilities would be restricted to the Wolf Smoke Realm.
He simply cannot rival Chen Jiusi.
Brooding over this, Liu Caidie is increasingly certain that recruiting Chen Jiusi was a stroke of absolute brilliance. It might well alter the entirety of the battlefield within the Ruins.
Noticing the resolve of his sister and Liu Caidie to depart, the Little Ming King pondered the situation before clapping his hands, immediately calling forth seven guards.
Addressing Han Ling’er, the Little Ming King said, "Sister, these seven are cross-training specialists I have personally handpicked. Each one possesses the strength of Energy Transformation. They shall serve as your support once inside the Ruins."
Han Ling’er surveyed the group; these seven men were robustly built, each standing over 1.8 meters tall, their eyes piercing like lightning and their presence as bold as a rainbow. They resembled bodybuilding champions, clearly far from being ordinary men.
"The Giant Wood Flag?"
The Little Ming King gave a nod, "Correct. They formerly served in the Giant Wood Flag before being reassigned as my personal guards by the Venerable. Every one of them has achieved Energy Transformation cultivation and is dedicated to the cause of the Holy Sect."
"We pledge our utmost service to the Holy Sect."
As they clasped their fists toward the Little Ming King and Han Ling’er, satisfaction flickered in her eyes at the sight of these muscular men.
She then cast a glance toward the disfigured and limping Chen Jiusi, her expression filled with open disdain.
It could not be helped; compared to these physically imposing men, Chen Jiusi was simply lacking.
However, Liu Caidie remained unbothered. She looked at Han Ling’er and remarked, "Ling’er, it appears my old servant hasn't quite impressed you."
Han Ling’er provided an awkward but polite reply, "No, you have completely misunderstood me."
This prompted a grin from Liu Caidie, "You may not like him, but to be fair, neither do I. Just look at his unsightly face and that lame leg—how could he ever hope to compare to these guards?"
Upon hearing this, the guards instinctively puffed out their chests, poised to show off their powerful physiques.
Indeed, in the shadow of such strong men, Chen Jie appeared outmatched.
Observing the scene, Chen Jie remained unmoved. Having full confidence in his own strength, he had no need for external validation.
With the strategy finalized, the group—led by Han Ling’er—would infiltrate the Ruins the following day to retrieve the hidden Qiankun Great Method.
Once the plans were finalized, everyone shared a meal at the Little Ming King’s residence while waiting for the Ruins to unlock.
When Liu Caidie escorted Chen Jie back to her quarters, she could not hold back her laughter, "Hahaha, I am dying of laughter! Chen Jiusi, you truly are a character. You failed to notice the distaste on Ling’er’s face, but the way she struggled to voice it was absolutely hilarious—my stomach actually hurts."
Chen Jie looked at Liu Caidie, "You certainly possess a wicked sense of humor."
Liu Caidie replied, "Chen Jiusi, you don’t realize how delightful it is to see Ling’er frustrated. We have been rivals since childhood, and despite the fact that I have never surpassed her in anything, she remains my dearest friend. I simply cannot miss this rare opportunity to see her rattled."
"You are quite a pitiable soul, truly," Chen Jie remarked.
"Haha, Chen Jiusi, I am genuinely dying to witness you unleash your true power and catch her completely off guard; that will be a sight to behold," Liu Caidie chuckled.
Chen Jiusi sighed, "Enough with the laughter. Honestly, your current predicament is far from promising."
Liu Caidie paused, meeting Chen Jie’s gaze as he continued, "You already performed your analysis today. It is evident the Ruins are nearing activation, yet Du Zundao and Mr. Guan are keeping it secret to exclude you."
"Even so, you are intent on sneaking in. If you cross paths with the forces of Du Zundao or Mr. Guan, it will likely escalate into a fight to the death. In that scenario, blades will meet flesh, and they will hold no regard for whether you are the granddaughter of Liu Futong or the daughter of the Ming King."
"Whoever dares to stand between them and the Qiankun Great Method will be treated as a mortal enemy!"
Liu Caidie’s expression sobered immediately. She looked at Chen Jie and pleaded, "If something goes wrong in those Ruins, you must protect Ling’er."
Chen Jie frowned, "Do you not dislike Han Ling’er?"
"Who said I dislike her? You are slandering me!" Liu Caidie countered.
"Then why make those comments earlier?"
Liu Caidie replied, "We are best friends. I want to see her look a bit foolish occasionally, but I would never let her fall into true danger."
Chen Jie suddenly realized the truth; it was the classic feeling of wanting one's friends to succeed, yet dreading them surpassing one's own status.
The two continued their discussion, both acknowledging the perils awaiting them in the Ruins, while Chen Jie posed several inquiries which Liu Caidie clarified for him.
The Ruins are situated within the Forbidden Land of Bright Peak and do not remain open indefinitely; each instance of entry requires careful timing."
