Chen Jie grew suspicious of Liu Caidie's motives in urging him to learn the Qiankun Great Method, accusing her of plotting something. Using his Intelligence System, he uncovered that she wants him to retrieve the technique from the perilous Ruins to present to Han Lin’er, the new Zoroastrian Sect hierarch, in order to stabilize his position. The system also revealed the Ruins' deadly nature, where Dragon Energy suppresses Gang Qi, rendering high-end martial arts unusable and making it too dangerous for Han Lin’er, who lacks combat experience, to enter.

Of course, this wasn't the primary reason. If Han Lin’er had been truly prepared, Liu Futong and his associates would have readily dispatched their own experts to help him secure the Qiankun Great Method.

The root of the issue lay in the internal fragmentation of the Zoroastrian Sect.

As previously mentioned, there was no dissent regarding Han Shantong assuming the role of Sect Hierarch. However, after his untimely passing, the succession became complicated. While Liu Futong could have easily claimed the position, he insisted on backing Han Lin’er instead.

Because Han Lin’er was still young and lacked sufficient influence, the other prominent figures within the Zoroastrian Sect became increasingly frustrated.

Whether driven by concerns for the Holy Sect’s future or their own agendas, they grew unwilling to see Han Lin’er remain in that position.

Consequently, the Zoroastrian Sect fractured into three distinct camps.

These were the Protection of the Young Faction, led by Liu Futong; the Strong Support Faction, headed by one of the two Dharma Kings, Mr. Duozhi Huguan; and the Self-reliance Faction, led by the Descending Mountain Tiger, Du Zundao.

The Protection of the Young Faction is self-explanatory; it was Liu Futong’s movement, dedicated to guarding the Young Master. And who was this Young Master?

Without a doubt, it was Han Lin’er.

Liu Futong’s group advocated for supporting Han Lin’er to ensure he could uphold the late Hierarch’s vision and continue the growth of the Zoroastrian Sect.

Beyond Liu Futong’s faction, the Strong Support Faction, guided by Mr. Duozhi Huguan, prioritized backing the person with the most power in the sect.

Since there was only one person considered the peerless expert of the Zoroastrian Sect, specifically the Yushan Monk, Liu Futong, the goal was clear.

To put it simply, Mr. Guan argued that the Zoroastrian Sect could not survive further instability, suggesting they replace the Young Master and elevate Liu Futong to the throne instead.

However, Liu Futong adamantly refused, which caused a deep rift between him and Mr. Duozhi Huguan.

Then there was the calculating schemer, the Descending Mountain Tiger Du Zundao. He was power-hungry to the core, having even maneuvered his way into the imperial court as an undercover agent, eventually reaching the rank of Minister.

While his personal power was immense—rivaling that of Liu Futong despite him not being on the Heavenly List—he harbored his own grand ambitions. When the power struggle between Liu Futong and Mr. Guan reached a boiling point, Du Zundao made his move. It was evident he did not recognize Han Lin’er’s authority.

He argued that since the Zoroastrian Sect had already severed ties with the court, continuing to support the young, inexperienced master would only hinder the sect’s path forward.

He threw his weight behind Mr. Duozhi Huguan’s bloc. Yet, as everyone knew, Liu Futong had no desire to lead. Since you can’t force a person to take the mantle against their will, a different approach was needed.

Why not settle for the next best thing and support the second-strongest individual in the sect?

And who was that?

It was obvious: none other than the Descending Mountain Tiger, Du Zundao.

Thus, Du Zundao championed his own candidacy, establishing the third force: the Self-reliance Faction.

This infighting had effectively paralyzed the sect, creating a gridlock that repeatedly barred Han Lin’er from accessing the Ruins.

Liu Caidie had once accidentally heard her grandfather lamenting the situation, saying that if Han Lin’er could just show some talent and retrieve the Qiankun Great Method from the Returning Ruins Cave to begin his Cultivation, it might appease the dissenters.

This convinced Liu Caidie that the sect’s internal chaos revolved entirely around the Qiankun Great Method. She believed that if Han Lin’er could obtain it, the crisis would vanish.

This was the driving force behind her extreme determination to have Chen Jie secure the technique.

Through his own intelligence gathering, Chen Jie finally grasped why Liu Caidie was so insistent. As he watched her anxious expression, he remarked, “Miss Liu, you don’t intend to have me recover the Qiankun Great Method only to use our prior agreement as leverage to force me to hand the technique over to your Young Master, Han Lin’er, do you?”

“Hmm!”

Chen Jie delivered this with a playful smirk, but Liu Caidie’s eyes widened in sheer disbelief.

“You—how did you figure that out?”

She gazed at him in stunned silence. Did this man possess a Mind Reading Technique? How could he see through such a deeply buried thought?

Regaining her wariness, she looked at him suspiciously. “What is it that you actually want?”

Chen Jie replied smoothly, “Don't be so anxious, Miss Liu. Although your plan is quite naive, I have agreed to it.”

“Wait, you agreed?”

Liu Caidie was even more taken aback. “But I am using you.”

Chen Jie answered, “There are many ways to measure a man's value. Honestly, being useful to someone else can be quite gratifying, don't you think?”

“You really are an odd individual.”

Chen Jie chuckled.

Still, Liu Caidie remained guarded. “You’re far too cunning. Are you truly fine with being used this way?”

Chen Jie looked at her steadily. “You saved my life, and besides…”

He gestured at his current state. “Do I really have another option?”

Watching him, Liu Caidie conceded, “You’re right. You have no choice but to help me.”

“But one thing still baffles me. How are you so certain that I am the one capable of finding this Qiankun Great Method in the Ruins?”

Liu Caidie replied, “Because you practice the Seventeen Dragon Capturing Palms, and more importantly, you possess the complete set.”

Chen Jie frowned slightly at this. “What is soיוחד about the Seventeen Dragon Capturing Palms?”

Liu Caidie stared directly at him and said, “You can't honestly tell me you are completely ignorant about your own Seventeen Dragon Capturing Palms, can you?”
