Chen Jie offered to surrender to the King Qi Residence, promising immense value while highlighting the Kunlun Sect's blood feud over the deaths of their elders Qin and Qi, putting Chang Xuzi in a difficult position. As Qi Chun and Tang Feng urged considering the bigger picture and the group fell into contemplation, Chen Jie sowed further discord to distract them. Seizing the opportunity, he erupted with a flawed Three Gods United technique, struck Ming Yuzhen with a palm, and fled, leaving the others stunned and in pursuit.

"Chen Jiusi, where are you running to!"

They never saw Chen Jie’s sudden dash away coming. Just a short while before, the group had been debating ways to enlist Chen Jiusi and sorting out the tensions between the Kunlun Sect and him. But in a flash, Chen Jiusi had bolted.

The whole mess left them feeling like their wits had been stomped flat.

This stung especially hard for Overlord Blade Qi Chun and the Tang Sect’s Second Master, the pair behind the recruitment pitch. Their faces flushed hot, as though a sharp slap had landed.

Fury surged through Qi Chun right away; he yanked out his sword and swung hard. The strike brimmed with wrath, no holds barred. He aimed to slice Chen Jiusi clean in two, eyes blazing with rage and deadly intent. Seconds later, a stunning sword beam lashed out, its fearsome glow flooding the skies.

An attack fueled by anger carried such dread. Chen Jiusi jolted in shock and dodged sideways fast. Yet in that split second, the Tang Sect’s Second Master roared in outrage too.

"You little thief, how dare you trick me? Die! Blood Devouring!"

As he bellowed, the Tang Sect’s Second Master, who led as Sect Leader, launched the technique straight at Chen Jiusi. In a heartbeat, Chen Jie sensed the whole sky turning pitch black.

Right then, a scarlet moon bloomed in the heavens, pinning down every twitch from Chen Jie and rooting him in place, his body locked stiff.

Yet as Chen Jie’s focus slipped, his inner Life Force roiled fiercely, and at once the gripping hold started to ease off.

Steadying himself, Chen Jie peered up to spot Qi Chun’s Sword Gang barreling down, its force ripping a deep gash across the earth as it raced his way.

Spotting that rift, Chen Jie shied from a direct clash, so he vaulted clear of the fray, sidestepping the Overlord Blade’s assault.

But right then, a stabbing ache hit Chen Jie’s Tan Zhong Acupoint in the lower belly, a wave of doom crashing over him as a savage, intolerable throb detonated in his skull.

In that moment, Chen Jie sensed his head might shatter.

Forcing his eyes open, Chen Jie found the world ahead drowned in crimson, vision too smeared to make out details.

"I’m done for!"

Alarm gripped Chen Jie as he grasped he’d taken the Tang Sect’s deadliest Hidden Weapon.

The Tang Sect’s premier three Hidden Weapons bore the title Three Devourings: Moon Devouring, Blood Devouring, and Pill Devour.

Pill Devour topped them all in power. Tales claimed no victim, not even a Melt God Realm master, could outlast its curse. Still, honing Pill Devour took brutal discipline; only Melt God Realm pros could conquer it. So in the Tang Sect, the Sect Master alone might wield Pill Devour.

Next to Pill Devour, Blood Devouring ranked as the Tang Sect’s fiercest, killing off ninety-nine percent of those it touched. Barely anyone lived through such a brutal strike.

Blood Devouring worked via the blood flow, sealing up channels and halting the heart, which made it a nightmare to fend off.

Blood Devouring had nailed Chen Jie; his blood clotted up in seconds, pinning him down—absolute terror.

This awful energy rattled Chen Jie’s thoughts too, but he knew halting now spelled doom. Getting nabbed by these foes meant certain death.

Jaw set tight, Chen Jie called up every drop of his Life Force, flooding it toward his heart to brutally fight back the vicious grip of Blood Devouring in his veins.

Life Force came through strong; surging into his bloodstream, it snapped Chen Jie back to full strength at once.

No delay—he popped two Tai Sui Pills into his mouth and crunched them fast; then tapping Three Gods United’s might, he unleashed his top Qinggong: Thunderbolt Step.

Boom!

Chen Jie blasted out with choking Gang Qi, and the next beat saw him stomp the dirt fiercely, vanishing in a thunderclap. His pace left even Overlord Blade Qi Chun and the Tang Sect Leader trailing far behind.

A crash echoed as the ground buckled. Chen Jie was out of sight, the rest swapping stunned looks before one yelled, "Chase him."

Seconds later, the crew tore after him at breakneck speed.

But when they caught up, not a hint of Chen Jiusi lingered; the whole lot froze in bafflement, scratching heads over his escape.

None could pinpoint Chen Jie’s path, everyone wearing a dazed expression, hunting vainly for traces of Chen Jiusi, ending in confused stares traded around.

Overlord Blade Qi Chun, the Tang Sect Second Master, and Chang Xuzi too, fell short as Qinggong specialists. Plus, Chen Jie’s sudden power surge defied their chase.

Just like that, Chen Jiusi slipped away in a blink. Chang Xuzi then queried, "Where is he?"

Overlord Blade Qi Chun wore a puzzled frown too, baffled by the sudden vanishing. How could that be!

Such notions swirled, yet Chen Jiusi had truly fled, lost to the winds.

Qi Chun broke the silence: "Head back, alert the forces, and sweep the area clean. No way he’s slipping out of Lantian County."

All nodded at his words.

Then the Tang Sect’s Second Master, Tang Feng, chimed in, "My Blood Devouring Poison got him; his time’s short. Let’s fan out and hunt every way from here. We could snag him."

This drew a brief halt, followed by shared looks and nods backing Tang Feng’s idea. Spotting Chen Jiusi today seemed within reach.
