D.E.M.O.N.S: Getting Summoned Weekly isn't so Bad Chapter 2266 Poisonous Solutions

Kat continued to run... and despite being cute she did end up attacking the axolotl a bit with Lily’s help. Together they learned that killing the thing was going to be REALLY hard. Lily took the first attack, throwing a bunch of paper airplanes at it so that the group could keep some distance. The axolotl just charged right through them. The paper couldn’t even pierce its skin, not for that weak spell. Lily upgraded to the Rank 3 version... and that still didn’t do much. A few cuts that swiftly healed over, proving it did have a regeneration ability.

Kat took the chance to attack next. It took a bit of effort as she didn’t want to get too close to it. In the end, what she did was set her hand on fire, turn just the hand into water, and then simply left it burning in the air. The idea was that it would deliver the attack right to the axolotl even if it tried to dodge. That was the idea... but the axolotl was really manoeuvrable. Just before it ran into the flame, it flexed its entire body to almost roll over the flame. Kat hadn’t been quite prepared for that and couldn’t move the water fast enough before it was out of range.

Part of that was due to the fact she couldn’t really look away from everything else. Balancing controlling her ’hand’ while dodging the swamps various dangers and any further lighting the axolotl sent their way was hard enough as it was, trying to guess how the rather bendy monster would twist to avoid her attack was a bit much on top of that.

Once the watery hand was out of range, Kat simply used a bit of demonic energy to regrow the rest of it, first by summoning more water on the end of her arm and then transforming it back. That too was a little awkward. It seemed like her power didn’t enjoy being stretched in that sort of manner and might not have at all without her regeneration or turning entirely to water for a bit. Still, Kat did manage it even if it was a bit expensive compared to what it should have been.

The second attempt had Kat make a few modifications. The first was that she split off only most of her watery hand, leaving behind around ten percent. It was going to act as ’seed’ water to reform the rest of it. The next modification she made was to separate the flame out into a net like structure to force the axolotl to either dodge further or just eat the flames. At least, that WAS the plan.

The axolotl simply blasted away the water with a strike of lightning, apparently hot enough to vaporise all the water leaving the demonic energy free to disperse once Kat was no longer able to feed it more from such a distance, or perhaps it too was destroyed by the lightning blast. Kat wasn’t entirely clear about that part. At least her hand was easily regenerated this time so it wasn’t a total loss.

So for the third attempt, Kat had a more complicated plan, though still included that bit of reserve water. Sadly it didn’t matter in the end. As soon as she separated out the demonic fire and water the axolotl blasted it. The monster had waited for her to waste all that time cleanly making the payload... and then just zapped it. Apparently, despite not being friendly it WAS still quite smart. It made Kat wonder who made the hat. It also made her wonder what she should do...

"Appoline! How long are you good for! This thing is proving to be a nuisance but Lily and I aren’t sure we can kill it, at least, not without a bunch of other problems because it regenerates!" yelled Kat.

"I while!" Appoline yelled back. "I’ve got stamina potions, healing potions, and the stuff I’m using to sort of float lasts like six hours. Also, I’ve got some poison that can deal with the bastard chasing us if you can’t. I thought you wanted it alive though." Kat frowned at the answer. Not because it was bad... but because it was a lie. Appoline DIDN’T currently have anything that could deal with it.

Still... if it was able to understand them, or at least Kat because of her demonic translation... it was an odd angle but one that just might work. Kat gave Appoline a nod and then said, "Well I was trying to take it alive, or well, ’take it’ is the wrong word but I suppose with it trying to kill us it’s best to just poison it to death. I remember you telling me about those fancy regenerator killing poisons but I didn’t think we’d have to use them. Anyway, we need a plan so it doesn’t just blast any potion bottles away," said Kat.

Kat couldn’t watch the axolotl to see if it had reacted to her words, she needed to concentrate as a cluster of cracks had appeared ahead of them. Dodging around them was possible, but not something she wanted to fuck up. Still, she had enough mental bandwidth to listen to Appoline’s answer. "Sounds good, catch,"

Appoline threw a potion towards Kat, and as soon as the bottle left her hand the axolotl zeroed in on it, blasting it with lightning and causing it to explode... this wasn’t a problem, not at all, as the potion inside glowed before exploding into a dense fog. *Kat was a little worried about how hard it would be to dodge the cracks in the fog... but she didn’t need to be worried.

If anything, it had actually made them easier to spot as the fog got sucked inside, compressed and warped. It was a weird effect, almost like those glass orbs with wet sand in them. Even with the colour being the same, the distortion was so distinct that it was easy to spot in the smoke. Kat danced her way through it all, careful not to breathe in much if any just in case. When she broke out the other side and looked back, it was to see the axolotl hovering in the distance, keeping far away from the cloud. *

Appoline had stopped, causing Kat to slow down as well. A few moments later Appoline raised another potion bottle in her hand and waved it around a bit. Kat got into position to tank any blows from them... but the axolotl decided to screech and then turn around in the end. Lily collapsed out of the air towards Kat and was swiftly brought into a hug. "Great thinking Appoline," cheered Kat.

Though even for Kat the adrenaline crash on this one had been intense. Looking around there wasn’t really anywhere good to sit so she slammed a foot into the ground, pushing out a bunch of demonic fire as she did so, freezing it into a better place to rest. Once that was done, Kat used her tail to gently lower herself down onto the ice until she was flat against the ground.
