Ning Qi and Medicine Spirit encountered a dangerous black fog. Ning Qi discovered it was composed of individual True Immortal strength insects, which he believed could be refined into a powerful swarm. He tasked Shi Xiaokun with capturing and refining them, who promised to have a batch ready within three days. Ning Qi then rested, and upon waking, learned Shi Xiaokun had successfully collected all the insects and was ready to begin refining them.

He then discovered that these flying insects were not black, but brown.

Quite different from the color seen at night.

"Why did they change color?"

Ning Qi looked curious upon seeing this.

His eyes darted back and forth, examining the insects in front of him.

"Master, their color can change."

"At night they change color to adapt to the environment, and when day breaks, they become hunters."

"It’s their normal reaction, there’s no need to worry."

Shi Xiaokun noticed his confusion, so he explained with a smile.

"I see."

After hearing the explanation, Ning Qi nodded and said, "They have a better environment here."

"It’s easier to refine them here, isn’t it?"

"Yes, Master."

Shi Xiaokun nodded and smiled, saying, "In just a few days, I’ll be able to refine a batch, and when we go to the Sea Boundary Battlefield, we can use them."

"Mm, I trust you. If you need anything, remember to ask me."

"Okay."

Shi Xiaokun, without much to say, simply responded.

"There’s one more question I want to ask you."

Ning Qi suddenly thought of something else and asked.

"Master, please speak."

Upon hearing this, Shi Xiaokun immediately became serious.

Waiting for Ning Qi to speak.

"In the copper mirror, those women, were they refined by you?"

So Ning Qi followed up and asked.

"Master, they were devoured by the Origin Power here."

"Their strength was too weak."

Shi Xiaokun then said, "The reason I told you that before is that I didn’t know them, so... I lied to you."

"Oh, what happened?"

"Why can the Origin Power devour people?"

Ning Qi’s attention was drawn to Shi Xiaokun’s previous words.

"It’s actually quite simple. When the world within the copper mirror was still unstable, they entered and endangered its safety."

"That’s why it repelled them, but this place was sealed by you, Master."

"They couldn’t get out and eventually had to be devoured by the Origin Power."

Shi Xiaokun patiently explained to Ning Qi.

"I see."

Ning Qi suddenly understood.

He had always thought Shi Xiaokun was up to something.

But now it seems it isn’t much related to him.

"Master, we should continue our journey; now is the right time."

Medicine Spirit noticed Ning Qi had no intention to leave Liu Ke, so he came over to remind him.

"Alright, let’s go."

After agreeing, Ning Qi gave a few final instructions.

Then he left with Medicine Spirit.

Once they were outside, the sunlight was already bright.

"Master, how should we travel today? Should we continue moving forward?"

After exiting, Medicine Spirit asked directly.

"Yes, if we keep walking in one direction, we’ll eventually get out."

"Thus, there’s no need to change direction."

Ning Qi followed up, "Besides, in other directions, I don’t feel there’s anything of value here."

"Okay!"

Medicine Spirit agreed, then suddenly asked, "What do you think they gain from being here?"

"That, I don’t know, but we certainly do."

"Especially those insects from last night; later I can gather a whole team from them."

Ning Qi said with a smile, showing confidence: "As for them, it doesn’t concern us."

After his words, Medicine Spirit had nothing more to say.

Just accompanied Ning Qi to continue their journey.

Soon, they left this place, proceeding further where the desert ended.

Yet the environment was still some Gobi Desert, until by afternoon, they noticed the Gobi was ending.

Appearing before them was a dense forest and undulating mountain ranges.

"Master, we’ve finally come out."

Medicine Spirit clapped his hands: "We’re finally free from the sand stinging our eyes."

"I told you, we would certainly be able to get out!"

Ning Qi also chuckled, continuing forward: "Upon reaching here, we should encounter inhabited places."

"Master, see, isn’t there a small town ahead?"

Medicine Spirit was the first to notice the situation and immediately reminded him.

"Mm, let’s go, check it out."

Ning Qi nodded and then rushed over.

Upon arrival, he entered the small town with Medicine Spirit.

Due to the proximity to the Gobi Desert, once deserted, it quickly became dilapidated.

Buildings collapsed, and traces of human presence on the streets were nonexistent.

If not for inhabited houses, they wouldn’t have come here at all.

"Master, it seems there’s nothing here."

"People here probably left a long time ago."

Medicine Spirit sighed: "I thought there would be some clues here for us to investigate."

"Yes, at least don’t wander aimlessly."

"With a goal, we can pick up the pace."

Ning Qi also fantasized.

But upon entry, just like Medicine Spirit, he was disappointed.

"Master, should we keep moving or find a place to rest?"

"Looking at the sky, it’s getting dark."

Medicine Spirit glanced around with concern.

"Let’s go; since there’s a town, there must be people nearby."

"We’ll take a chance to see if we can find a larger town."

Ning Qi looked ahead and said.

"Okay."

Medicine Spirit agreed and followed Ning Qi to continue their journey.

They soon left the small town, following the road leading forward.

"The road heading out is getting wider, indicating this is the way to another town."

After walking a while, Ning Qi analyzed.

"Master, there are also intersections, but they’re all small paths."

"Following this road, we’re likely on the right track."

Medicine Spirit pointed at the road ahead and analyzed.

"Mm, let’s go!"

Ning Qi nodded, said no more, and continued rushing forward.

His speed was quick, swiftly reaching the mountain ranges.

After traveling further, they reached a flat area.

Although labeled as flatland, it’s just a relatively open area; it’s still within the mountain ranges.

"Master, look ahead, there really is a city."

Medicine Spirit suddenly exclaimed, flying in front of Ning Qi, forcefully pointing ahead.

Ning Qi also looked accordingly.

They indeed saw a city ahead.

The city walls towered high, without any trace of damage.

"Come, let’s take a look."

Ning Qi regained presence of mind and continued rushing forward.

In the blink of an eye, they reached the city’s outskirts.

The walls were constructed with special stone, though the gates were already in ruins.

Not due to corrosion, but clearly sabotaged by someone.

They entered together.

"Hoo."

A gust of wind greeted them.

The scenes within the city were much better than the small town just now.

Despite some dilapidation, it was relatively intact overall.

Doors and windows were mostly ruined, but the buildings stood steadfast.

Only, some places bore marks of fighting.

This didn’t hinder Ning Qi’s observation.

Initially, he was walking along the streets, but eventually, he flew low.

"Master, it seems there’s a large manor ahead, should we go and check it out?"

Medicine Spirit pointed in a direction, speaking to Ning Qi.

"Mm, let’s go, see what we can find."

After agreeing, Ning Qi turned and flew forward.

Soon he arrived above the manor Medicine Spirit mentioned.

Indeed, it was a large manor; a four-entry courtyard, each wing spacious.

Though the courtyard was in ruins, its former grandeur was visible.

Yet, in the courtyard lay several corpses.

Many had turned to skeletons.

There were traces of battle on the ground, even demolishing whole buildings.

"This family might have had grudges with those who attacked here."

Medicine Spirit analyzed, "Maybe we can find something useful."
