Cultivating for a hundred lifetimes to ascension Chapter 1355 - 729: Illegal Resident (Part 2)
Previously on Cultivating for a hundred lifetimes to ascension...
A short time later, a titanic head of a pitch-black serpent, as massive as a millstone, rose from the depths. Its eyes glowed with a sinister red light, resembling two crimson lanterns. Two small, intricately detailed horns protruded from each side of the serpent's head, appearing remarkably delicate.
Following the head, a gargantuan python body emerged, stretching thirty to forty meters in length like a small mountain ridge. Growing from beneath its belly was a pair of stunted claws, which looked bizarrely out of place on such a massive frame.
"Hiss hiss, who are you, human barbarian? Why have you wantonly slaughtered my offspring..." The pitch-black Jiao Python flicked a massive, scarlet tongue. Its huge eyes suddenly flashed with a cold light as it unexpectedly interrogated him in human speech.
As it spoke, its body expanded further, looming like a mountain and radiating a thick killing intent, as if it intended to devour the intruder without further talk.
"This old man asks you, what place is this? Which continent of the Spirit Realm is this?" Zhao Sheng questioned indifferently, his voice cutting through the air.
The Water Serpent King, long accustomed to being the absolute ruler of its domain, was enraged by the intruder's arrogance and the blatant dismissal of its own question.
A dark shadow blurred as a thick tail shattered the water's surface, whipping violently toward Zhao Sheng in mid-air. The tip of the tail was surrounded by countless razor-sharp water blades, resembling a mountain of knives that sealed off every possible path of escape.
Poof!
Suddenly, the Water Serpent King felt an overwhelming pressure weigh down upon it. This was immediately followed by a wave of agonizing pain as its nearly indestructible demon body was torn apart; half of its blood-drenched tail flew into the sky before crashing back into the water, sending up massive waves.
A second later, the Water Serpent King felt a heavy weight atop its head. One of its Dragon Horns was stepped on and shattered instantly. Blood sprayed everywhere, and the creature howled in such torment that its Demon Soul was nearly jarred out of its body.
"Aww..."
However, the Water Serpent King’s frame suddenly went rigid. Its head remained frozen in the air, not daring to twitch.
It was paralyzed by the terrifying aura emanating from above its head. Realizing it had provoked an existence it should never have crossed, it remained perfectly still.
"If you don't want to die, answer my questions honestly. If you hide anything, be careful of your head," Zhao Sheng commanded coldly, his foot still planted firmly on the Jiao Python’s head.
Trembling from head to tail, the Water Serpent King opened its mouth wide, pleading in a panicked and subservient tone, "Spare me! This Little King will answer everything truthfully and would never dare to deceive you. This Little King was blind and inadvertently offended you; I hope you can show mercy."
"Too much nonsense!" Zhao Sheng frowned. He suddenly exerted pressure with his foot, snapping the remaining Dragon Horn.
"Aww—"
The Water Serpent King let out a cry of pain but forced its mouth shut immediately, terrified of causing further irritation.
"I will not resist! This little demon will confess at once. This area is the Dragon and Snake Swamp, situated in a secluded northwest corner of the Four Saints Continent. This swamp spans roughly seventy to eighty thousand miles and is governed by three Jiao Emperors. It is tens of thousands of miles away from the nearest Human Race Spirit Domain..."
This Jiao Python proved to be quite talkative, spilling every detail—useful or otherwise—out of sheer terror that Zhao Sheng might deliver a fatal blow.
For a while, the Water Serpent King continued its rambling. However, in the blink of an eye, its massive head was severed from its neck. It fell like a Giant Stone, accompanied by a deluge of Demon Blood, hitting the water with a thunderous boom.
The enormous python body continued to writhe in its death throes, while a fountain-like spray of crimson blood erupted from the stump of its neck, staining the surrounding area deep red.
At that moment, a Dragon Serpent Soul about seven to eight inches long shot out from beneath the water, attempting to flee into the distance at lightning speed.
"Come back!"
At Zhao Sheng’s shout, the Dragon Serpent Soul stopped dead in its tracks. It was then yanked backward like a kite being pulled by a string.
"Don't kill me! Or you will surely die..."
The Water Serpent King’s Demon Soul struggled with all its might, yet it could not escape the invisible shackles.
It had only tried to buy time, but its actions had ultimately invited its own destruction.
A cold glam flashed within Zhao Sheng’s eyes, causing the Dragon Serpent Soul to freeze instantly. Its pupils became vacant and dull.
A breath later, this Nascent Soul level Dragon Serpent Soul dissolved into a flicker of Flowing Light and vanished entirely.
Through its Divine Soul, Zhao Sheng had extracted everything the creature knew.
Having no desire to stay in the swamp, Zhao Sheng glanced toward the horizon and vanished into thin air.
...
Several days passed. In the heart of a lush plain, a dark green city rose majestically, its massive walls stretching as far as the eye could see.
This metropolis, known as Bai’an City, served as a hub where the Hundred Clans lived together. With a population of over a million, it was one of the few major cities within a three-thousand-mile radius.
Perched atop a high white palace, Zhao Sheng sat upon a bronze dragon’s head. He slowly put away a Jade Scroll, having finished reviewing its contents.
The Jade Scroll provided a general overview of the Four Saints Continent’s geography and customs, along with data on various Cultivation Sects.
The records indicated that the Four Saints Continent was an immense territory that served as a sanctuary for demon beasts. While Cultivation resources were incredibly plentiful, Human Race Spirit Domains were few and far between. Compared to the Da Kun Continent in the Taisu Spiritual Realm, the human population here was nearly a hundred times smaller.
Though the Human Clan was technically the dominant force on the Four Saints Continent, it functioned as a melting pot for humans and the Hundred Clans, where the law of the jungle prevailed.
This social structure existed because the continent was ruled by the Spirit-controlling Immortal Sect.
Within the Spirit-controlling Immortal Sect, the path of Beast Taming Cultivation was the primary focus. Over eons, this had left a permanent mark on the continent's Cultivation culture.
The actual mountain gate of the Spirit-controlling Immortal Sect was not located on the Four Saints Continent. Its true location remained a profound mystery, known to very few since ancient times.
Zhao Sheng found this unsurprising, as the Nine Questions Immortal Sect operated under a similar veil of secrecy.
Looking down at the city below, wide avenues divided the urban sprawl into hundreds of orderly districts. Almost every structure was crafted from Giant Stones, giving the city a heavy, grand, and exotic aesthetic.
Markets lined the roads, packed with crowds. Many inhabitants possessed strange, non-human features, though some members of the Human Clan appeared ordinary.
Most of the residents were accompanied by demon beasts, showing a high level of companionship.
From his vantage point, the Human Clan and the various Alien Races seemed to live in peace, with no obvious signs of friction on the surface.
Suddenly, a veiled woman with a graceful figure flew across the sky on the back of a winged tiger. Her eyes fell upon Zhao Sheng, who was still sitting atop the palace.
She was dressed in a form-fitting blue skirt embroidered with gold thread. The garment was revealing, highlighting her alluring curves, while her almond-shaped eyes shimmered with intelligence.
