Yue Yue informs her parents that her grandfather has awakened. While Xuan Long is overwhelmed with emotion and fear, Su Qinglan encourages him to meet his father. After initially hesitating, Xuan Long is dragged along by Su Qinglan to the house where Teng Yunxiao has just managed to sit up. Teng Yunxiao is confused by the terms Yue Yue and Su Qinglan use to address him, which imply he has aged significantly.

Teng Yunxiao looked at her strangely. Why was this female suddenly smiling like that? He had no idea what she was thinking.

At that moment, Su Qinglan suddenly remembered something. Someone was still holding her hand.

She looked back. Xuan Long was standing behind her, his expression completely different from usual. He looked like a lost puppy.

Su Qinglan clicked her tongue. "Come." She tried to pull him inside.

Xuan Long immediately resisted. "No."

Su Qinglan looked at him. "Come inside."

"I can’t."

"Why?"

Xuan Long’s body was stiff. "I..." He could not finish the sentence.

Su Qinglan sighed. "Fine."

She released him and walked inside.

Xuan Long secretly relaxed. He had almost escaped!

Then Su Qinglan turned around and walked back outside. She stood in front of him and patted his arm gently. "If you don’t want to go inside, then no one is forcing you."

Xuan Long blinked. Really? He looked at her with gratitude. "Lanlan..."

"It’s fine." She smiled sweetly. "You don’t have to go."

Xuan Long finally relaxed completely. "Thank you."

He was just about to turn around and leave when...

BANG!

Su Qinglan kicked him directly from behind!

"Go!"

"Ah!"

Xuan Long stumbled forward! His enormous body staggered through the doorway and nearly crashed into the bed before he managed to catch himself at the last moment.

He turned around in complete disbelief. "Lanlan!"

Su Qinglan stood outside with an innocent smile.

Xuan Long’s eyes widened. She had betrayed him! He had trusted her! He had actually believed her! He had never expected his own female to launch a sneak attack on him!

Xuan Long was flabbergasted, but before he could complain, he slowly turned his head.

And then he froze.

Teng Yunxiao was sitting on the bed. Their eyes met. Father and son stared at each other.

The entire room suddenly became dead silent.

Xuan Long’s anger disappeared instantly. His breathing stopped, his lips parted slightly, and all the words he had prepared over countless years vanished from his mind.

The man sitting in front of him was much thinner, much weaker, his face carrying traces of everything he had suffered.

But those eyes... Those were the eyes Xuan Long knows.

His father. The father he had spent almost half his life searching for. Teng Yunxiao also stared at the young man standing before him. Something deep inside him trembled.

That face... Why did it look so familiar?

His heart suddenly began beating faster.

Neither of them spoke. Even little Yue Yue became quiet, looking between them with her tiny head tilted to one side.

Su Qinglan waited and waited for the father and son to finally speak.

Five seconds passed. Ten seconds passed. A full minute ticked by.

Neither of them said a single word. They simply stood there, staring at each other with completely blank, calm expressions.

The silence in the small room grew so thick and suffocating that Su Qinglan felt like pulling her hair out right then and there!

For God’s sake! She screamed internally. You two are meeting each other for the first time in years! Do you really not have a single thing to ask? Not even a simple hello?!

She could somewhat understand Xuan Long’s reaction. He was completely nervous...heck, he was practically terrified in front of his own father. But what about his father?! Why wasn’t Teng Yunxiao asking anything?

Anyone else in his shoes would be filled with massive doubts about why a fully grown man, bearing his exact same face, was standing right in front of him!

Su Qinglan pondered helplessly as her eyes darted back and forth between the father, the son, and little Yueyue sitting in the middle.

Suddenly, a realization hit her like a lightning bolt.

All three of them had the exact same, absurdly introverted personality! None of them knew how to open their mouths first!

Su Qinglan smacked her own forehead in utter exasperation. At this moment, she missed her chatty fox, Xiao San so much. If her cub were here, he would have definitely rambled on and forced everyone in the room to speak within three seconds!

She sighed softly, her lips curving into a helpless smile. It seemed she had to do all the heavy lifting herself.

Stepping forward with a bright, welcoming smile, Su Qinglan broke the silence. "Hello, Elder! I am Su Qinglan, your daughter-in-law."

Teng Yunxiao froze completely solid. Daughter... in-law?!

Behind her, Xuan Long’s body stiffened even further, but his emerald eyes secretly peeked at his father with nervous, expectant hope.

Before Teng Yunxiao could digest the shock, Su Qinglan began rambling on without missing a beat.

"I am a female from the Fox Tribe, currently living here in Dragon Beast City because my mother is a priestess here. I used to be the only child of my parents, but now I have 6 younger siblings! Oh, and I have six beast husbands in total...Xuan Long here is my fourth husband, and we even have two adorable little cubs together!"

She rattled off information like an energetic flood, filling the silent room with her cheerful voice.

Finally, she paused for breath, only to realize that something was terribly wrong.

The handsome, skeletal man sitting on the bed slowly blinked. He looked at Su Qinglan, then shifted his gaze to Xuan Long, before uttering a single, quiet sentence:

"But... I don’t remember having a son."

BOOM!

Xuan Long felt as if the entire sky had collapsed directly onto his head! His heart shattered into a million tiny pieces right then and there. His face turned deathly pale, and his whole body began to tremble.

Su Qinglan’s jaw dropped. She immediately stepped in front of Xuan Long, glaring at Teng Yunxiao with wide eyes.

"Elder!" she gasped in sheer disbelief. "How could you say something so heartless?!"

Seeing the fierce young female glaring at him and the fine young man behind her looking completely heartbroken...as if his entire soul had just been crushed... Teng Yunxiao immediately realized he had said something terribly wrong!

He had never been good with words in his entire life, and now he had blundered instantly.

Panicked inside, Teng Yunxiao quickly tried to fix his mistake. In truth, he was utterly baffled! He was one hundred percent certain he had never mated with anyone in his life, so how on earth could he suddenly have a son? And a fully grown, massive son at that?!

Yet, deep down, he couldn’t deny the truth. The ancient bloodline of the Teng Clan never lied.

In the beast world, it was an absolute hereditary instinct for a father beast to instantly recognize his own flesh and blood. The young man standing before him was, without a shadow of a doubt, his real son!

Brows furrowed in deep confusion, Teng Yunxiao pressed a hand against his throbbing forehead.

"I... wait," Teng Yunxiao stammered, his voice hoarse. "Which year is this?"

Su Qinglan blinked in surprise. Year? Does something like year counting also exist in the beast world? She didn’t have a clue... At least, nothing like this had ever happened in their domain.

Xuan Long, despite his completely crushed spirit, finally managed to open his trembling mouth. He choked out two ancient clan characters followed by a specific beast-calendar number: "It is... the Year of the Azure Dragon, 400,210."

Teng Yunxiao’s eyes nearly popped right out of his head.

"WHAT?!"

He gasped so hard he almost choked on his own breath! "How... how could that be possible?!"

He stared at Xuan Long in absolute, mind-boggling shock.

"I... I distinctly remember the day I got trapped inside that icy mountain!" Teng Yunxiao stammered, his usual calm completely shattering into dust. "It was the Year of the Crimson Phoenix, 200,150!"
