Clumsy Beast, Keep Your Paws Off Chapter 841: Trouble in the Harvest Fields

After breakfast, everyone was finally ready to start their day.
The cubs were already bouncing around excitedly, almost unable to wait any longer to go outside and play with Rong Ye. Their little faces were full of anticipation, and a few of them were already discussing where they wanted to go first.
Xuan Long and An Mo had already gone out hunting, while Shi Feng, Hu Yan, and Han Jue remained at home to accompany her.
Su Qinglan looked at the lively group of cubs and smiled warmly. "Since everyone is ready, let’s go to the farm."
The cubs immediately cheered in unison!
"Farm!"
"Let’s go!"
"I want to see the vegetables!"
Su Qinglan laughed as she led them toward the large farming area located just outside the main city gates.
Ever since she had returned to the Upper Domain, she had brought back many different kinds of seeds. During spring, she had personally plowed a huge patch of land and planted all kinds of crops.
The farm had now become a communal property of Dragon Beast City. It no longer belonged to Su Qinglan alone.
Many families in the city participated in taking care of it. Some watered the plants, some removed weeds, some guarded the fields at night, and others helped with harvesting. Once the crops matured, everything would be divided fairly among all the households.
Because of this, the beastmen of Dragon Beast City were no longer completely dependent on meat. They finally had fresh vegetables, sweet fruits, grains, and other plants to supplement their daily diets.
The females especially loved it. Their diets had become much more balanced, and their bodies were becoming healthier and stronger. Even their complexions looked brighter and more radiant than ever before.
The cubs were benefiting even more, growing taller and sturdier every single day.
Dragon Beast City had never been this prosperous. There were cubs everywhere.
The streets were constantly filled with their cheerful laughter, tiny footsteps, playful fights, and loud cries for their mothers.
Even though many of the crops during the summer had not yet grown much, with Su Qinglan’s plant-type ability, growing crops was almost as easy as snapping her fingers.
And she wasn’t the only one helping.
Little Hua’s entire family had become an important part of the city. They no longer needed to hide inside their homes in fear. They could freely walk around Dragon Beast City, and no one dared to trouble them anymore.
More importantly, Little Hua’s family had become deeply involved in the daily farming.
Their affinity with nature was extraordinary...after all, they were all spiritual plants themselves.
Wherever they walked, the soil seemed to come alive, and the plants grew far more vigorously. With their help, the crops in the fields had grown much more abundantly than Su Qinglan had originally expected.
Su Qinglan was secretly delighted every time she saw it. This was the kind of life she had always wanted: a peaceful city, healthy families, plenty of food, and children running around happily without a care in the world.
Thinking about this, Su Qinglan couldn’t help but smile as she walked toward the farm with the others.
However, they had only gone halfway when a heavy figure suddenly hurried toward them from the main road.
It was a bear beastman. His expression was extremely anxious, and he was breathing heavily as though he had rushed over without stopping for a single second.
When he caught sight of Su Qinglan, he immediately called out, "Sister Su Qinglan!"
Su Qinglan stopped in her tracks. "What happened?"
The bear beastman looked deeply troubled, wiping the sweat from his forehead. "Something happened at the farm!"
Su Qinglan’s smile immediately disappeared, replaced by a sharp look. "What happened?"
"There are several patches of vegetables that have been eaten!"
"Eaten?" Su Qinglan stared at him in disbelief. "Who ate them?"
The bear beastman shook his head helplessly. "We don’t know. The guards just noticed it this morning!"
Su Qinglan’s brows furrowed tightly. She had clearly given everyone strict instructions before: no one was allowed to touch the crops before they were fully grown and ready for harvest.
Once the vegetables matured, they would be harvested together and distributed fairly among everyone in the city.
But now, someone had actually snuck in and eaten them before they had even fully ripened? That made no sense!
"Take me there right now." Su Qinglan’s expression became completely serious.
Hu Yan and Han Jue immediately fell into step beside her, their eyes turning sharp.
Rong Ye and Shi Feng also went along, while the cubs hurried after them, suddenly forgetting all about their games. They wanted to see what had happened to the precious vegetables too.
Soon, the group hurried toward the lush farming area.
Su Qinglan’s eyes narrowed slightly as she walked. If it had only been one or two stolen plants, she might have thought it was just a hungry cub making a mistake.
But the bear beastman had explicitly said that several entire patches had been devoured.
That meant someone had deliberately broken into their farm.
By the time Su Qinglan and the others reached the farm, the anxious expression on the bear beastman’s face finally made complete sense.
Su Qinglan stopped dead in her tracks, her breath catching in her throat.
In front of them was a massive patch of farmland, usually bursting with vibrant greens and rich soil. But now, a large portion of the vegetables growing there had been completely wiped out.
Not just a few nibbled leaves. Not just one or two stray plants.
An entire section of carefully cultivated crops had been utterly devoured.
Su Qinglan’s eyes widened in sheer shock. "What the hell...?"
She hurried forward, crouching down near the ruined soil as she looked at the damaged plants in utter disbelief. "These were supposed to be harvested later this week!"
She carefully picked up one of the shredded stems. The vegetables had been growing perfectly well only yesterday evening...crisp, ripe, and healthy.
But now, their leaves were gone, some thick stems had been cleanly bitten through, and several prime plants had been entirely uprooted, leaving behind hollow pits in the earth.
Su Qinglan’s expression darkened considerably. "Who on earth could eat this much in one night?"
The bear beastman immediately shook his head, wringing his massive hands nervously.
"We don’t know, Sister Su Qinglan. When we came to check the fields at sunrise, we found them like this. The guards didn’t hear a single thing!"
