An old man with a mysterious token gains entry into Dragon Beast City. He visits Su Qinglan's residence, claiming he has been waiting a long time to speak with her. When Su Qinglan and her beast husbands emerge, they are met with his unsettling presence and cryptic words about knowing her from a past life.

The old man raised his crutch slightly, pointing its crooked tip towards her husbands.

"Because..." A sly, mischievous smile stretched across his wrinkled face. "...they are looking at me as though they want to tear me apart and swallow me alive right now."

The beastmen’s expressions darkened instantly. Rong Ye took one heavy step forward, his aura flaring. "You’re right."

The old man laughed softly. "See? Even now, he is calculating the fastest way to kill me."

Su Qinglan sighed, shaking her head. "Then just sit right here in the courtyard. There is no need for me to go anywhere alone with you."

The old man shook his head slowly. "Can you really bear for them to hear what I have to say?" His voice suddenly dropped, becoming extraordinarily soft, almost a breathless whisper meant only for her ears.

"Once certain words enter their ears... there are some things that can never be forgotten or undone."

Su Qinglan’s heart violently skipped a beat.

She didn’t know why, but those words struck something deep and raw inside her chest.

A cold, suffocating feeling flared up. Her instincts screamed at her: Don’t let them hear.

She didn’t know what this strange old man knew, but her gut warned her that exposing her husbands to his words would shatter their peace forever.

Su Qinglan slowly turned to look at her husbands. "Wait here."

Instantly, several voices objected at once.

"No!"

"You can’t go with him alone!"

"What if something happens?"

"Qinglan..."

Su Qinglan raised her hand, cutting them off firmly. "Nothing will happen to me." She looked at them with absolute composure. "I am at Level 16. Do you really think I can’t handle one frail old man?"

She glanced towards the frail figure standing a few paces away. He was so thin his dusty robes practically swallowed him whole, and he relied on a stick just to keep his balance.

Even if something went wrong, her husbands were powerful enough to span the distance in a fraction of a second.

"Just wait here," she repeated softly, giving them a reassuring look.

Though deeply reluctant, the beastmen could only nod and stand down.

Su Qinglan turned back to the visitor. "Let’s go."

The old man smiled faintly. "Good."

He turned around and slowly began walking away from the estate.

Tap. Tap. Tap.

Su Qinglan followed a few paces behind him. They walked further and further away from the residence, neither of them speaking a word.

The old man’s pace was painfully slow, but Su Qinglan didn’t rush him. Eventually, they reached a quiet, isolated grove surrounded by wild trees, dense grass, and weathered stone boulders.

The old man finally stopped. He slowly lowered himself onto one of the smooth, flat stones. Su Qinglan stood across from him, crossing her arms over her chest.

"Speak," she commanded flatly.

The old man looked up at her. For several seconds, he said nothing at all. Then, his lips curved into a quiet smile. "You don’t have much time here."

Su Qinglan’s eyes widened. "What?"

The old man tilted his head slightly. "You heard me. You don’t have much time left in this world."

Su Qinglan stared at him coldly. "What nonsense are you talking about?"

The old man turned his gaze towards the distant sky. "You have fulfilled quite a few longings from your past life."

Su Qinglan’s entire body froze instantly.

Past life.

Those two words hit her like a bolt of lightning out of a clear sky. The colour drained from her face in an instant.

The old man continued calmly, his voice drifting like autumn leaves.

"You carried heavy regrets when you came here. You carried hatred. You carried pain. You carried things you thought you could never let go of. But now?"

He looked back at her, his smile widening slightly. "You have achieved almost everything you once desired."

Su Qinglan’s fingers curled into tight fists at her sides.

The old man leant forward, his cloudy eyes piercing right through her outer layer.

"So tell me... if a wandering soul finally finds everything it was searching for, what reason does it have to continue wandering? Perhaps... your journey here is already coming to its natural end."

Su Qinglan’s breath caught in her throat. Her mind went completely blank.

No. Impossible.

She glared at him sharply, her voice dropping to a dangerous register. "What are you trying to say?"

"Perhaps," the old man raised a single, bony finger, "you will simply disappear. One morning, you will wake up. You will eat breakfast with your family. You will laugh with your children. And then..."

He snapped his fingers softly.

"...nothing. You will simply vanish. And what will your husbands do then? Will they chase your soul into the afterlife, or will they remain here, clinging hopelessly to the empty space where you once stood?"

Su Qinglan’s heart pounded wildly against her ribs. Her nails bit sharply into her palms. "Shut up!"

The old man chuckled dryly. "Why? Because you are afraid?"

"What do you want?!" Su Qinglan snapped, her composure cracking completely.

The old man’s smile faded. "Not much. But I do need something from you... though the time isn’t right yet."

He slowly stood up, leaning his weight back onto his ancient crutch. He took a step away, then paused, his unreadable gaze landing back on her.

"You have three daughters," he noted softly.

Su Qinglan stiffened instantly, her defensive instincts surging. "Yes."

"Your daughters’ destinies..." The old man paused, his tone growing chillingly solemn.

"...are not much better than yours. If they withstand what awaits them, they may live lives far more prosperous than yours. But if they cannot... they will die horribly."

Su Qinglan’s breath hitched. "What did you say?!"

"Your youngest daughter... the little snake," the old man murmured, unbothered by her rising rage.

"She will face a massive calamity when she turns eighteen. She will disappear from this world and appear somewhere far more dangerous, forced to walk that terrifying road completely alone."

"Yueyue..." The name escaped Su Qinglan’s lips in a horrified gasp.
