Lord Chu immediately stepped forward. His face was completely pale, and there was no longer any trace of his former arrogance remaining in his expression.
He lowered his head and bowed deeply toward Su Qinglan, his body rigid. "Lady Su, this old man sincerely apologizes for what happened here today."
His voice was filled with deep desperation and apparent sincerity. "I hope you can forgive my foolish daughter. She was blinded by anger and truly did not know what she was doing."
Su Qinglan looked down at him silently. Then, a sharp, mocking sneer broke across her face. "Forgive her?"
Lord Chu’s heart tightened violently in his chest.
Su Qinglan folded her arms across her chest, her posture supreme and cold. "So, you are only apologizing to me now because I am An Mo’s female?"
Lord Chu’s expression stiffened instantly, his throat growing dry.
Su Qinglan’s smile became noticeably colder. "What if I wasn’t? What if I were just a weak, lowly female from a lower domain?"
Her voice was strikingly calm, but every single word carried a sharp, deadly edge that echoed through the silent courtyard.
"Would you still be standing here bowing and apologizing to me so humbly?"
Lord Chu’s face drained of all remaining color.
Su Qinglan continued relentlessly, her eyes flashing with disdain. "No. You would have beaten me to death without a second thought."
The entire hall fell into a deathly, suffocating silence.
"You insulted me," Su Qinglan stated firmly. "You insulted my beloved beast husbands. And you even dared to demand my beast husband as your daughter’s slave."
Her eyes narrowed into dangerous slits. "Did you think I would simply forget all of that?"
Lord Chu’s face completely cracked with panic. He opened his mouth, but not a single coherent word came out.
Su Qinglan gave a cold, dismissive laugh. "And now that you know my true status, you beg for forgiveness?"
She shook her head slowly. "Dream on."
Lord Chu’s heart sank directly into an abyss. He knew this terrifying matter would not end with a simple, empty apology.
Su Qinglan glanced at him coldly. "Since you want my forgiveness so badly, then I will give you one single chance."
Lord Chu immediately looked up, desperation in his eyes. "What does Lady Su require?"
Su Qinglan began calmly listing the exact compensation she demanded. "A hundred high-grade crystal cores. Ten thousand middle-grade crystal cores."
She didn’t stop there. "Three thousand-year-old healing herbs and a whole bottle of Moon Spirit Jade Dew."
Lord Chu’s face twitched violently with every single item listed. Those were not ordinary treasures; even for the wealthy Chu Clan, gathering them quickly would require immense effort.
Yet, he gritted his teeth and nodded. "Fine."
Su Qinglan looked down at him, her eyes unyielding. "That’s not all."
Lord Chu’s heart sank into darkness once again.
Su Qinglan pointed a slender finger toward Chu Xirou. "She severely insulted my beast husband. She called him useless trash, and she even dared to call him names."
Her eyes turned as cold as ice. "She will kneel right here and apologize to him directly."
Lord Chu’s expression immediately changed in shock. "Lady Su..."
Su Qinglan raised an eyebrow, her tone challenging. "What? Is my demand somehow unreasonable?"
Lord Chu fell completely silent. He knew it wasn’t; after all, his daughter had indeed insulted him ruthlessly.
He slowly turned his head toward the sobbing Chu Xirou. "Xirou."
Chu Xirou’s swollen face instantly changed. "No!" She shook her head violently in utter horror. "Father, I don’t want to!"
"Enough!" Lord Chu’s voice was deathly cold. "Kneel down."
"I won’t..."
SLAP!
Another thunderous, sharp slap landed brutally across Chu Xirou’s face!
Everyone present froze in utter shock.
Chu Xirou stared up at her father in complete disbelief, tears immediately overflowing from her swollen eyes. "Father..."
"Kneel," Lord Chu ordered, his expression pitch-black and grim. "Apologize now."
Chu Xirou’s whole body trembled uncontrollably. She had never been slapped like this before. She had grown up pampered and utterly spoiled, where someone always protected her every whim.
But today... she had been slapped twice by her own father! She had never suffered such massive humiliation in her entire life.
Yet Lord Chu gave her no room to resist. He glanced directly at Chu Yanze. "Hold her down."
Chu Yanze stepped forward silently, his expression an unreadable mask. He grabbed Chu Xirou’s arms firmly, forcing her downward.
"Let me go!" Chu Xirou struggled wildly. "Brother, let me go!"
Chu Yanze said nothing. His iron grip only tightened further.
Under his immense strength, the thrashing Chu Xirou could not resist. Her knees finally slammed down onto the hard stone ground.
She lowered her bruised head, her heavy tears falling one after another onto the dirt.
Lord Chu looked at her sternly. "Apologize."
Chu Xirou bit her lip so violently that blood nearly trickled out. She looked up at her beast husbands, the intense hatred in her eyes impossible to hide.
Yet she had no choice left. Not with her father standing over her, and certainly not when the entire Chu Clan’s survival rested on this apology.
Her shoulders trembled hysterically. "I’m... sorry..." Her voice was barely audible.
Lord Chu frowned deeply. "Louder!"
Chu Xirou’s eyes spilled over with even more bitter tears. "I’m sorry!" she sobbed out loudly. "I’m sorry for insulting you!"
She bowed her head even lower. "I’m sorry for calling you a bastard!"
The words came tearing out from between her clenched teeth. Her heart was completely consumed by pure, venomous hatred.
She hated Su Qinglan. She hated her father for forcing her. She hated Chu Yanze for holding her down. And she hated herself for kneeling before those she once looked down upon.
Yet she choked out the final words. "I apologize... please forgive me..."
The entire grand hall remained deathly silent.
Su Qinglan looked down at her with icy eyes, feeling not a shred of sympathy for the pathetic female.
She shifted her gaze toward Lord Chu. "Remember this," her calm voice rang out clearly. "I don’t care whether you are a powerful, high-ranking clan."
She paused, her gaze piercing. "If you want to bully someone, first make sure that person is truly powerless."
"Because one day," Su Qinglan warned softly, "you may discover that the person you looked down upon is standing far above you."
Lord Chu’s face turned completely stiff. He lowered his head deeply. "This old man understands."
Su Qinglan turned away gracefully, having no intention of saying anything more to them.
As she was dragged away, Chu Xirou secretly glanced back, her tearful eyes burning with venomous hatred. She stared fixedly at Su Qinglan’s back.
One day... she swore she would make this female pay in blood.
She did not realize that Lord Chu was currently looking at her with overwhelming exhaustion, knowing his foolish daughter still understood nothing at all.
