Su Qinglan skillfully manipulates the elders of Fox Beast City, convincing them that her young cub, Ciao Ciao, has rightfully claimed the title of City Lord. Despite their insistence that the cub relocate with her to Fox Beast City, Su Qinglan refuses, citing his young age and the harsh winter. She secures a compromise: the cub will inherit the throne but remain under her care until adulthood, with a contingent of guards staying behind. Su Qinglan promises to bring the cub to Fox Beast City in the spring.

After bowing multiple times and formalizing the treaty, the party of elders finally departed, their hearts full of joy and adoration for their new little genius ruler.

The moment the heavy gates clicked shut and the courtyard fell dead silent, the "unconscious" body in the snow suddenly stirred.

Rong Ye sat up from the frozen ground, shaking the white snow off his long hair. He let out a low chuckle, his dark eyes shining with absolute amusement as he looked at his clever wife.

"Those old fools," Rong Ye muttered, brushing the frost off his shoulders as he stood up.

"They clearly stood no chance against my wife’s sharp tongue. They could never outsmart you, Lanlan."

Su Qinglan stood there, a proud, beautiful smile gracing her lips as she watched him walk over.

In her arms, the little fox cub Ciao Ciao was still wearing the exact same smug, arrogant expression, his nose still pointed toward the sky.

Rong Ye stopped in front of them, narrowing his eyes as he stared at the little cub’s face.

"Look at this brat," Rong Ye said, a mock scowl appearing on his lips. "That proud, smug look on your face isn’t even yours. You learned that completely from your father!"

Before the little cub could even register what was happening, Rong Ye swiftly reached out and scooped the little fox cub right out of Su Qinglan’s arms.

With a swift, playful motion, he tossed the fluffy cub directly into a nearby pile of soft, powdery snow!

"Ah!" Su Qinglan gasped, but before she could complain, Rong Ye’s strong arms immediately encircled her petite waist.

With a deep, joyous laugh, he lifted her completely off her feet, twirling her around in the falling snow. He leaned down and pressed a deep, passionate, and incredibly loving kiss right onto her soft lips.

When he finally pulled back, his handsome face was glowing with absolute pride and adoration.

"Lan Lan, you are truly awesome, my clever female," Rong Ye whispered, his warm breath mingling with the winter air.

"Those strict, stubborn elders are always such a headache, but they were so incredibly foolish today. They fell directly into your trap without even realizing it!"

Su Qinglan bent down and carefully picked up Ciao Ciao into her arms, dusting off the bit of snow that had accumulated on his gorgeous fur during his grand performance.

The little fox cub immediately became comfortable, letting out a soft, pleased purr as he happily curled up against his mother’s warm chest. He buried his small nose into the soft fabric of her winter coat, feeling completely invincible.

Then... he slowly turned his head.

With his body securely anchored in the absolute safety of his mother’s embrace, he looked straight at Rong Ye, who was walking right alongside them.

The little fellow raised one tiny, fluffy paw, extended his claws slightly, and gave his father an extremely dramatic, slow goodbye wave. His little furry face was completely full of pure innocence, as if saying:

"Bye-bye, Father. I’m safe now. You can’t touch me."

Rong Ye’s eyebrow twitched violently. Safe? Very safe?

The tall beastman stopped in his tracks, looking at his son’s deeply provocative little wave. The corner of his mouth slowly lifted into a dangerous, highly amused smile.

"Oh?" Rong Ye purred, his voice dropping an octave as his dark eyes locked onto the smug little creature. "So you think your mother can protect you out here?"

The little cub blinked his large, round eyes. He hugged Su Qinglan’s neck even tighter with his front paws, burying his face deeper. His eyes instantly became watery, shimmering with unshed tears, and he even let out a small, pitiful sniffle.

"Awaaa," he whimpered softly, sounding like the most mistreated cub in the entire Beast World.

Rong Ye almost laughed out loud from sheer anger. He threw his hands up slightly, thoroughly exasperated by the sheer acting talent of his own flesh and blood.

"You little rascal!" Rong Ye scolded, pointing a finger at the ball of fluff.

"I haven’t even settled today’s score with you yet. You stomped on my chest. You kicked my face in front of the entire council of elders. And now you’re pretending to be the victim here?"

The little cub froze. For exactly one second... he looked incredibly guilty. His ears flattened slightly against his head, remembering the solid smack his paw had made against his father’s handsome jaw. But it was only for one second.

The very next moment...

"Waaaah!"

Ciao Ciao opened his tiny mouth and immediately let out the most exaggerated, theatrical cry possible. It was incredibly loud. Very, very loud. The sound echoed across the snowy courtyard as if Rong Ye had already beaten him black and blue.

Rong Ye stared at him in absolute disbelief, his jaw dropping slightly.

"..."

I haven’t even touched a single hair on your body yet!

The little fox secretly peeked through one tightly squeezed eye, checking on the progress of his performance.

Sure enough, Father was glaring at him with a dark, defeated expression. Good. That meant Mother would definitely step in and protect him now.

As expected, Su Qinglan’s maternal instincts flared up instantly. She immediately patted Ciao Ciao’s fluffy head, rocking him gently in her arms to soothe his dramatic tears.

"There, there," Su Qinglan coaxed softly, her voice full of tenderness. "My baby. Don’t cry, Mommy’s here."

Then she turned her head and gave Rong Ye a pointed, warning look. "He’s only a little baby, Rong Ye. Don’t scare him with that fierce face of yours."

Rong Ye pointed dramatically at the little fox, his voice rising in sheer disbelief.

"A little baby? Lanlan, he almost flattened me into the permafrost today! He used my ribs as a stepping stone! He kicked my face! He even stomped on me three times to make sure I stayed down!"

The little cub shamelessly turned his back to his father, burying his face completely against his mother’s shoulder as if none of those violent events had ever occurred in the history of the world.

Rong Ye narrowed his eyes, stepping closer. He extended a large, warm palm toward the cub. "Come here, brat. Come to Father. I promise I won’t hit you."

The little cub immediately shook his head so hard that all nine of his fluffy tails swung together in a chaotic blur in the air. "No!"

Although he was still too young to speak clearly in human words, his sharp little chirp and fierce refusal made everyone understand exactly what he meant: Father is lying through his teeth!

Seeing the father and son glaring at each other, Su Qinglan felt a headache coming on.

One big fox. One little fox. They looked as if they were standing in a grand arena, about to start a life-or-death duel.

Su Qinglan looked from one to the other, noting the exact same stubborn tilt of the chin and the same fierce spark in their eyes. She let out a deep, helpless sigh.

"...Why do I feel like I’m raising two cubs in this house instead of one?"

Without another word, she shifted her weight and stepped directly between their locking gazes, breaking the tension. "No fighting in the yard. We just got rid of the elders." She looked at Rong Ye. "And you. Forgive my son. He’s still a baby helping us with a script."
