Chu Xiruo, the most beautiful woman in the upper domain, visits her brother Chu Yanze. She is impatient because the Teng Clan has not yet produced their young heir, whom she desires. Chu Yanze reassures her of his devotion and their immense power. They retire to the beast chamber, where their intimate encounter takes a turn when Chu Xiruo, lost in pleasure, calls out the name "Xuan Long." Chu Yanze is consumed by silent rage.

Several days swiftly passed within the bustling Dragon Beast City. Over this short span, the elder physician had practically integrated himself completely into Su Qinglan’s daily existence.

Each morning, the old man would arrive at her humble wooden dwelling, his worn medicine satchel slung over his shoulder. His booming voice would precede his entry, often calling out from just outside the door.

"Young lady! Have you partaken in a proper meal today?"

Or perhaps, on other occasions…

"Have those good-for-nothing husbands of yours angered you again?"

Initially, Su Qinglan found herself unsure whether to laugh or feel exasperated, but gradually, she accustomed herself to his boisterous and rather imposing demeanor.

Despite the old healer’s outwardly gruff nature and frequent scolding, Su Qinglan could discern the genuine, heartfelt concern radiating from him. It was the tender affection of a grandparent for their own descendant.

Perhaps due to his long years of solitude, the sudden appearance of a granddaughter figure had transformed Su Qinglan into something he cherished daily.

Concurrently, the old healer developed an unusual fondness for the three rambunctious little cubs.

It was quite astonishing that these three notorious rascals, who normally caused utter disarray within the household, became remarkably well-behaved in his presence.

This particular transformation was the most astonishing aspect for Su Qinglan.

Ordinarily, Xiao Yi and Xiao Er would be squabbling over sustenance or engaging in playful wrestling matches on the floor, while Xiao San would covertly orchestrate mischief from the sidelines. Even in the presence of Su Mingxuan, they displayed their spoiled and cunning natures.

Yet, the moment the old healer settled himself down, leaning on his walking stick and stroking his beard…

The three cubs would instantly line up with impeccable posture, resembling the most obedient children in the entire beast realm.

Their tiny backs were ramrod straight, and their innocent, round eyes fixated upon the old healer with utmost seriousness.

Not a single one dared to make a sound.

Witnessing this spectacle nearly caused Su Qinglan intense stomach pain from suppressed laughter.

The old healer, beaming with pride, stroked his beard while imparting his pronouncements.

"Sit up straight," he commanded sternly.

The cubs immediately adjusted their positions, becoming even more erect.

"Excellent," the old healer nodded, his chest swelling with pride.

Su Qinglan fought back a surge of laughter as she observed Xiao Yi’s look of mild distress; the little tiger clearly yearned to dash outside and frolic, but he dared not.

Finally, this very morning, after re-examining Su Qinglan’s pulse one last time, the old healer gave a satisfied nod before rising.

"You have been confined indoors for too long," he stated, carefully stowing his medicine pouch. "Pregnant females ought to engage in more walking prior to delivery; it benefits the body."

He then regarded her with a proud expression before declaring,

"Accompany your grandfather today. I shall escort you through Dragon Beast City and facilitate introductions to a few acquaintances."

Su Qinglan blinked softly.

The proposition was, in truth, not disagreeable.

She genuinely desired to cultivate additional connections within Dragon Beast City.

Furthermore, aligning herself with the old healer, who commanded immense respect second only to the City Lord and the Priestess, would undoubtedly smooth her path considerably.

With this thought in mind, Su Qinglan immediately offered a radiant smile.

"Then Grandpa Ye must help me leave a most favorable impression on everyone, okay?"

The old healer responded with a loud, dismissive snort.

"Such sweet words," he declared with a proud puff of his chest. "Simply follow this old grandpa diligently. I promise to assist you in forging numerous friendships."

Su Qinglan chuckled before slowly pushing herself to her feet.

By this juncture, her abdomen had become remarkably pronounced. Childbirth was imminent, perhaps within the next four or five days, or at most, a week.

Fortunately, most aspects within the tribe had reached a state of stability.

Their newly constructed stone dwelling was nearing complete completion.

Shi Feng had personally contributed to the construction of many interior elements, including the wooden bed frame and the bamboo cabinets Su Qinglan had requested.

Even the small vegetable patch situated behind the residence had begun to show delicate green shoots.

A significant number of fox tribe members had successfully relocated into their new stone homes.

Things were gradually improving across the board.

Only Rong Ye and An Mo remained conspicuously absent, with no word received.

Contemplating their whereabouts caused a slight clenching in Su Qinglan’s heart, yet she could do nothing more than wait in quiet anticipation.

Therefore, venturing out today served as a welcome diversion for her thoughts.

Just as she and the old healer were poised to depart, Hu Yan emerged from the kitchen upon hearing their preparations.

"I shall accompany you," he stated casually, wiping his hands on his apron.

However, before he could take a step forward, Shi Feng intercepted him.

"You shall remain here to handle the cooking," Shi Feng announced impassively. "I will attend to Lan Lan."

Hu Yan’s eyes immediately narrowed.

Shi Feng met his gaze calmly, without a trace of apprehension. For a few tense moments, the air crackled with unspoken rivalry.

Finally, Hu Yan let out a cold snort and retreated back towards the kitchen.

Shi Feng’s lips curved into a subtle, triumphant smile before he swiftly followed Su Qinglan and the old healer.

Meanwhile, positioned near the threshold, three small heads cautiously peered outwards.

As the esteemed old healer receded further into the distance, a mutual understanding passed between the three cubs.

A mischievous glint sparked in their eyes.

Finally...

Their perpetually grumpy great-grandfather had departed!

Without a second thought, the trio instantly reverted to their true forms.

Two fluffy tiger cubs and a diminutive snake shot out like lightning from the doorway, their escape fueled by unbridled excitement.

"Let's go play!"

"Hurry, hurry!"

"Mother can't catch us now!"

Like fleeing convicts making their grand escape, the cubs vanished down the path.

Not far behind, Xuan Long leaned casually against the wall, a silent observer of the unfolding scene.

He let out a soft, resigned sigh as he watched the sneaky youngsters make their getaway, then quietly commenced his pursuit.

After all, these little ones were an absolute handful.

The last time he'd let his guard down for just a moment, they had already instigated a brawl with another group of cubs.

Recalling the ensuing chaos, Xuan Long massaged his forehead.

"Truly..." he murmured with a yawn. "These little ancestors possess an endless supply of restless energy."

He genuinely wondered from whom these cubs had inherited their boisterous dispositions.

Xuan Long ambled along at a leisurely pace, his gaze fixed on the agile forms of the three little rascals as they darted ahead.

To be perfectly honest, their lineage didn't seem to explain their behavior at all.

He himself had always been a reserved and somber child, and even now, he much preferred tranquility.

As for Hu Yan...

The tiger was practically a statue of sternness, his daily life revolving around discipline more than mere survival.

And Su Qinglan...

Mentioning her brought a subtle softening to Xuan Long's emerald eyes. She was the epitome of gentleness, sweetness, patience, and a soft-heartedness that bordered on the unbelievable.

Yet, inexplicably...

these three cubs had turned out entirely contrary to their natures.
