CLEAVER OF SIN Chapter 982: Royal Flush [GT Ranking Bonus - ]
Previously on CLEAVER OF SIN...
As Asher stood musing about the ignorance of childhood, Azaron walked out from the direction he had previously headed toward. He was dressed in his usual combat attire, his breastplate secured firmly upon his chest and vambraces covering his forearms. He stood as though prepared for everything and anything.
"Let’s move, Youngest. It’s time to board the Sky Jet," Azaron stated as he walked past Asher without another word.
Asher simply nodded. He gave the glass pane one last look before turning away and following behind Azaron. Stepping into the living room once more, everyone had already gathered as they headed toward the elevator.
"Where did you disappear to?" the Seventh Moon, Mary, asked curiously as she wondered what Asher and their father had been discussing.
Malrik, who was standing at the side, replied before Asher could. "They weren’t talking about his supposed true affinity, if that’s what you’re trying to get out of him," he said, his tone playful.
Mary rolled her eyes as she replied, "I hope it doesn’t become some great secret. After all, this curiosity might really kill me," her voice carrying a hint of excitement.
She seemed like someone who enjoyed gossiping... or at least, that was what Asher thought.
The Sixth Sun, Ezekiel, who was also walking beside them, replied, "I feel the same way. I just don’t want Father to announce that it’s some kind of secret. That would be heavily disappointing. After all, that’s basically what Father did with Elder Brother’s Katana abilities. To this day, we still don’t know the abilities of his Soul-Bound Katana, yet everyone knows the abilities of everyone else’s Soul-Bound Weapon," he stated calmly.
Everyone basically nodded, their eyes shifting toward Malrik, who simply smiled back at them. Malrik’s Katana abilities remained the greatest mystery among them. To them, they had to be so powerful and unique that even their own father had declared them a secret from both the family and even the Great Elders.
There wasn’t anything they hadn’t tried in an attempt to make Malrik spill the truth. They had tried illusions, charms, some useless truth-telling tea, even attempted to get him drunk. They had even tried sending a woman to seduce him in the hope that he might reveal the secret while lying in bed after sex.
Yet every single method they had attempted had ended in complete failure. At this point, they had all given up, but that didn’t mean they had stopped being curious.
Asher shook his head as he replied, "It’s not some great secret. I just don’t want to say or explain it here. After all, the walls have ears," his tone calm as he reassured them.
"We can create a sound barrier," the Third Sun, Xavian, spoke, and as soon as he did, the Third Moon, Xavienne, immediately followed up, "to nullify any sound from leaving here."
"I even have an artifact that can prevent lip-reading," the Ninth Sun, Thalric, added, his black eyes turning toward Asher.
Although he had apologized and fled because he couldn’t bear listening to what Asher had to say, it didn’t mean he intended to avoid Asher forever or anything of the sort.
Asher’s lips twitched. His siblings truly weren’t willing to give up. In the end, he could only shut his mouth and remain silent.
At the back, the Barons and their respective families merely watched, not daring to add anything to the conversation. Not everyone was the cute Rachael. Even at this very moment, Rachael was being carried by Olivia while the woman gently arranged Rachael’s hair with a smile upon her face.
Baron Whale and Lady Vie could only watch helplessly as they feared that the Eighth Moon might one day kidnap their daughter simply because she liked her so much. It was a genuine concern for them, as the amount of attention Olivia was showering upon Rachael was simply excessive.
The couple could only look at one another before shaking their heads, not daring to say anything. Yet, at the same time, they couldn’t help but feel delighted that everything was going well. They were merely a Baron family, yet now they had seemingly established a connection with a Ducal family, and not just any Ducal family, but the Wargraves.
Asher alone was already an extraordinary opportunity, but the entire Wargrave Family and the Duke himself were nothing short of a fucking royal flush.
Yes, the connection was still weak. It wasn’t the kind of relationship that would allow them to casually walk up to the gates of the Wargrave Estate and make requests or anything of that nature. But regardless, all that remained was to carefully nurture that connection while ensuring they were always in the right place at the right time.
Baron Canestane and Lady Canestane looked at one another before nodding in silent agreement. Rachael had been steadily attracting the Wargraves’ attention, which meant that once they returned to Canestane Manor, William should probably expect a baby sibling in about nine months.
Yes, they had both agreed to have no more children after William was born, but now... well, that agreement had been thoroughly thrown out of the window.
Baron Rivelle and Lady Eleanor looked at each other before glancing toward Annabelle and Caldor, their children. While neither of them was particularly powerful nor exceptionally talented, everyone knew that the Wargraves simply didn’t care about the talent or strength of those they chose as lovers or life partners.
They could only hope that Caldor or Annabelle might at least catch the eye of one of the Moons or Suns. Something... anything. Any one of them would suffice. But if both of their children somehow managed to find suitable partners among the Wargraves, then that would be even more perfect.
Still, they understood that such hopes were greater than mountains themselves. After all, they had originally hoped Annabelle might catch the Tenth Sun’s attention, but Asher hadn’t even spared her a single glance.
All they could do now was hope that things would turn out differently this time and that everything would naturally fall into place.
The Elders and Great Elders of the Wargrave Family remained silent as though they weren’t even present. Nevertheless, they appreciated one another’s company, as well as everyone else’s presence. After all, it had been ages since the entire Wargrave Family had actually traveled somewhere together.
The elevator dinged, and with that, everyone stepped inside despite it clearly not being capable of accommodating such a large number of people. However, Azaron, being the first to enter, simply expanded the space within the elevator to comfortably fit everyone while simultaneously manipulating gravity to reduce everyone’s weight without affecting the elevator itself.
Upon reaching the lobby, there was no crowd watching or waiting, as nobody dared approach the Awakener Association’s skyscraper. Everyone stepped into their respective cars before driving away. Within only a couple of minutes, they arrived at their own private Sky Jet, which was already resting majestically upon the asphalt.
At the airport, the Overlord was already standing together with several Nobles behind her, as they had come to bid Azaron and the Great Elders farewell. If the Wargraves themselves hadn’t been present, neither she nor the others would have bothered coming.
"Thank you for the hospitality, Cynthia. I hope that the next time we meet, I might be the one returning such a warm welcome," Azaron stated with his usual flat tone and expressionless face.
Cynthia nodded with a gentle smile. "It was a pleasure having all of you here in the Thalvorn Empire," she replied as her mind involuntarily replayed memories of Nazak’s terrifying rampage.
She couldn’t help but conclude that Azaron would probably do exactly the same if anyone ever dared do something to Asher. After all, she knew about the man personally killing Valentine before completely wiping the Assassin Guild from existence.
Azaron didn’t speak another word. He simply gave a single nod, not sparing the Nobles even a passing glance, as though they didn’t exist at all, before walking toward the Sky Jet together with the rest of the Wargraves, none of whom said a single word to Cynthia or anyone else.
