CLEAVER OF SIN Chapter 966: Same Time Next Week

As Asher crossed the finish line, confetti shot into the air as he gradually came to a stop. Behind him, a few of the Young Masters who hadn’t been eliminated also crossed the finish line with swift speed as they came to a stop.
Arianna could only drive her car with her two blown-out tires as she crossed the finish line, a huge frown visible on her face. She had never expected Asher to use such a tactic, and he had perfectly timed it for the exact moment her car’s barrier gave out. If Asher’s barriers had been down too, she would have shot out all four tires of his car in retaliation.
The rankings appeared, Asher sitting in first place, Miracle in second, and Arianna in fifth as a lot of people had zipped past her.
Asher took off his helmet as he glanced at Arianna’s car with a smile on his face, clearly smug about his win. He stepped out of the car with calm, unhurried steps as he took off the racing suit, instantly lifting the restrictions placed on him.
"Damn, are you sure this is you two’s first time racing?" Miracle couldn’t help but ask as she stepped out of her own car.
"For real, were you two just playing with us so you could catch us off guard? With such top-tier driving skills, how come I haven’t seen you at any race tracks or heard about you guys?" Melinda asked as she arched an eyebrow.
"We already told you guys that this is our first time racing. How can you hear about us if we’ve never been to a race track?" Asher asked as he walked towards Arianna’s car.
One of the male Young Masters spoke as he shook his head. "Nice driving and techniques, Logan. I’ve got a lot to learn from you. I hope I continue seeing you around," he stated, as to him, Asher was already part of their Young Master clique.
"But I have to say," another boy picked up, "shooting at your own girl’s tires just to win the race... I didn’t know you wanted the win that badly," he stated, his brown eyes shifting towards Arianna’s car as he added, "you might be sleeping on the couch for the rest of your relationship," he mused.
Asher smiled as he replied, "Don’t worry, my family owns an expensive couch. They’re quite comfortable to sleep on," he joked as he walked past the two boys.
Arriving before Arianna, who was still sitting in her driver’s seat with her helmet masking her frown, he lowered himself beside her car door and leaned against it as he spoke.
"I can see your tears through the helmet. Should I give you the handkerchief you gave me earlier if the one you kept for yourself isn’t enough?" he asked with a smirk on his face.
Arianna wanted nothing more than to wipe that smug smirk from his face. She wanted to complain that without Asher targeting her tires, she would never have lost. But alas, she wasn’t a sore loser who gave excuse after excuse. Besides, Asher hadn’t broken any rules. She was the one to blame, as she couldn’t think outside the box the way Asher had.
Arianna sighed internally as she shook off her helmet, her beautiful face coming to life as she spoke.
"Why are you so smug, as though you found some rare treasure? It’s just a race," she said, her tone calm, though a bit forced, as she tossed her helmet onto the passenger seat.
She didn’t even wait for Asher to speak. She opened her car door, pushing him aside slightly as she stepped out.
"Ohhh... is that frustration I sense in your tone?" he teased with a smile.
Arianna took off her racing suit as she replied, "And why would I be frustrated? It’s not like I lost something. It’s just a race, Logan. Get over it."
Asher stared at her for a moment. Women were practically all the same. She had lost, yet she couldn’t admit her frustration over the results.
"I think that ending about getting over it should be my line, but who cares, I guess," Asher replied with a shrug.
The Young Masters could only watch from the side as Asher refused to let the matter go, continuing to tease Arianna endlessly. They wondered if these two’s relationship was going to end by tomorrow morning. They also couldn’t help but wonder if this was Asher’s first relationship, as he should have simply taken the hint and let his girl win or, even if he won, not rub it in her face.
They could only shake their heads as they approached. At the very least, with their presence, they might just save Asher’s relationship by making him stop teasing his girlfriend.
As they approached, they praised Arianna for her driving skills to soothe her mood. After all, she had always been in first place before Asher shot at her tires. She was practically the best driver here.
Arianna glanced at Asher with her amber-gold eyes, as though telling him that he should take a page from these Young Masters’ book, that this was how any sane reasonable was supposed to behave.
Asher, catching her gaze and the meaning behind it, simply pointed to his breast pocket, precisely at the handkerchief within it. Arianna rolled her eyes as she couldn’t be bothered with this frustrating idiot anymore.
The Young Masters asked for Asher and Arianna’s numbers, but Asher and Arianna simply gave out fake ones. Although their real phone numbers had already been leaked online, who was to say none of these eight Young Masters already had them saved on their phones?
If they had the original contact numbers, they would be accused of deliberately giving the wrong phone numbers. So it was best to hand out fake ones.
"Hey, Logan, there’s a bar about twenty kilometres away, not too far from here. They sell some really nice drinks. I have a few good friends there," one of the guys suggested to Asher.
"You’ll love it, Tanya. Since you two haven’t been to a racing track before, I’m even more sure that you two haven’t visited this bar. It would be fun, take my word for it," Cristabel, the third girl, said convincingly.
Asher gazed at Arianna. If she wanted to go, he had no issues going. If she didn’t, then they wouldn’t. He was personally on the fence about the bar, as he didn’t exactly care either way.
Arianna subtly shook her fingers as she signalled Asher.
"Unfortunately, guys, our fun ends here. Our parents expect us back at the family company in an hour," Asher stated with a sigh as he shook his head, as though the matter was completely beyond his control.
"Well... that’s understandable," one of the guys replied.
Arianna, who had been silent until now, spoke. "How about the same time next week?" she suggested, knowing fully well she wasn’t going to be anywhere near the Thalvorn Empire next week.
"Perfect," Cristabel, Melinda, and Miracle stated almost at the same time. Although they didn’t know their schedules for next week, they could always adjust them or simply clear them entirely.
