CLEAVER OF SIN Chapter 809: The Shallow [GT Ranking Bonus - ]

After thinking about it for a moment, Asher turned and walked away from the abyss-like pit.
He came to a stop before a random stone on the ground. He picked it up and unsheathed Virelass as he slashed the rock, leaving the last Position Marker on it. Then he immediately arched his arm back and threw the rock into the air with Astra energy wrapped around it for protection. After all, if the rock shattered upon landing, then the Position Marker would dissipate and vanish. Meaning if he was in danger, his only escape options would be the Wargrave Estate or Star Academy, which would result in automatic disqualification.
With that done, Asher walked back toward the pit and stared at it one last time, a smile appearing on his face.
What was the point of being strong without taking risks and being at least a little adventurous? Of course, Asher knew he was merely giving himself a stupid reason to jump into a life-threatening battle.
Without any more hesitation, Asher jumped into the abyss-like pit, but he did not simply allow himself to plummet. After all, who knew how deep this pit was? He could very well jump to his own death despite his ridiculous physique.
He floated downward calmly, the darkness swallowing him whole. Asher’s Light affinity flickered as he tried sensing light photons in the air and manipulating them, but the moment he did, he arched an eyebrow as he could not sense a single light photon, which surprised him, as this was the first time he was experimenting with such a thing.
Asher decided to stop thinking about it. He focused his senses below, as even the sight function of Omni Perception was useless here. Within a minute, Asher felt as though he had reached the ground, or at least that was what his senses told him. With that, he landed as quietly as possible, but the moment his feet touched the earth, the same announcement he had heard back at the antidote Positive Zone echoed once more.
At the announcement, Asher was not surprised, as he had already guessed as much, so he simply waited to hear its ridiculous function.
The announcement continued to send out warnings, repeatedly advising him to leave immediately. But Asher could not understand why they would put such a thing in the first place only to tell students to leave. Besides, he could not remember the commentators, Thomasinho nor AlyxAtlas, talking about any type of Special Zone.
But at the same time, those two never talked about everything, as students were left to figure out minor details on their own as they survived.
Asher did not move. He simply stood in silence as he waited for the announcement to reveal the functions of the Negative Zone, and with it being a Special type, he was certain the function would be brutal.
As a minute passed with the announcement repeating itself constantly, it suddenly vanished. But the moment it did, Asher felt some form of barrier immediately appear above him. His head snapped upward. Although he could no longer see the sky, or even the sun due to the darkness that consumed the light photons, Asher still sensed that the entrance of the abyss-like pit was now being sealed.
He did not need to think too much to know what that meant. He was no longer allowed to leave.
The announcement immediately returned after the entrance was sealed.
Asher stood in silence when he heard this. This was the first time he had ever heard of a Negative Zone having a reward. He shook his head with a mild chuckle.
Asher immediately lifted his hand as he tried to use his Light affinity to illuminate the darkness, but the moment his Astra energy pulsed, the Light affinity did not respond, as though he did not possess it at all to begin with.
As though sensing Asher’s attempt, another announcement followed.
As Asher heard this, his physics oriented mind could not help but tingle with curiosity. The next moment, he tapped into his Lightning affinity, seeing it crackle within his hand without any form of obstruction. Asher nodded in satisfaction. He tested his other elements as well, but it seemed only the Light affinity was affected.
’It seems The Shallow rejects light but not the things that produce it,’ Asher thought to himself.
After all, if the Light restriction were absolute, then even Lightning would be considered obsolete at this point.
Although darkness swallowed him and Light was useless, Asher simply filled his eyes with Star Energy, and under the might of The Star, the darkness vanished as though it had never existed to begin with.
But the moment the darkness vanished, all Asher saw were hundreds of eyes staring at him as though they wanted to tear him apart. His eyes widened in pure shock as over one hundred Rank 5 Emovirae stood before him, alongside tens of Rank 6 Emovirae, all of them lying in wait for him to take a single step forward.
Asher could not help but wonder why they had not attacked yet. Throughout the entire time he had been standing there in silence, they had not made a single move. But the moment he had that thought, his eyes focused on an ultra-thin wall-shaped barrier that appeared almost invisible, separating him from the Emovirae before him.
Asher recognized it instantly. It was the same barrier that had sealed the entrance of the abyssal-like pit.
He had not sensed them earlier because they had all been suppressing their malice and lying in wait without making a single sound. That fact alone displayed the level of intelligence they possessed.
Asher did not need to guess to know that the moment he stepped through this vertical barrier, all hell would break loose.
Now he understood why the Negative Zone was called Special.
Now he understood why the reward for survival was his life.
Now he understood that this being known as Xal’Thar was definitely a Rank 7 Emovira.
A small smile broke onto Asher’s face. The small smile turned into a smirk, then a grin as he began smiling like a madman. His battle intent pulsed, and his Wargrave Bloodline seemed to heat up as the battle-maniac side of him rose from wherever it had been caged.
His Astra energy boiled as, without a shred of hesitation or fear, he stepped into the madness with nothing but glee in his eyes and a mad smile on his face.
And across the world, every Wargrave seemed to feel their blood resonate as their eyes fixed upon the carnage that was about to erupt.
