CLEAVER OF SIN Chapter 637: Mid-tier Ability

Upon crashing into the ground, Daniel sprang back up and dashed away, unwilling to remain in place for even the slightest instant, lest Morthen seize the opportunity.
Despite his organs appearing to fail, he pressed on as if he could endure several more days without them amid his wounds. Indeed, Crownstar Life Rankers boasted vitality of staggering magnitude, utterly beyond the grasp of mere mortals.
Gabriel and Israel materialized on another flank, completely unharmed, their gazes piercing toward Morthen’s prior location—or where he had been before they evaded his latest strike.
Yet in the instant that followed, their heads jerked skyward, detecting the surge of Astra energy, a abrupt and suffocating change heralding yet another assault.
Morthen launched his next assault without pause, shifting fluidly and instantly between techniques, denying his foes any chance to recover.
Gabriel and Israel suddenly felt the full burden of the world crashing down on them, their frames tensing as muscles bunched and quivered, fighting to stay upright against the force threatening to bury them.
Gabriel uttered words to enforce a rule right away, and as he did, a huge chunk of his Astra energy drained from his Astra veins—countering the gravity Morthen wielded required an enormous toll.
With the crushing pressure gone, Israel blurred from sight, activating Overclock to amplify his velocity, momentum, and impending strike power, driving his body to extremes without a second thought.
He bridged the gap to Morthen faster than ever before, Overclock amplifying his technique’s might and impact to horrifying levels.
Morthen prepared to shift when Gabriel invoked yet another rule, timed with perfect precision.
he stated, eyes locked on Morthen, his tone resolute and venomous, brimming with deep-seated loathing.
Still, Morthen had no real need to evade for safety; Gabriel’s rule posed mere nuisance to him, something to circumvent rather than heed.
Astra energy erupted from his Astra veins, summoning enormous boulders that coalesced into a massive defensive wall, reinforced by tremendous power and density, built to endure apocalyptic blows.
As the barrier solidified, Israel’s fist slammed into it, unleashing a barrage of blows like machine-gun fire, each packed with ruinous strength. Morthen’s earthen shield quaked violently under the barrage, fissures racing across it, yet it endured as he poured in more Astra energy, mending breaches instantly.
Israel couldn’t suppress a frustrated tsk, for even with Overclock boosting his power, punches, skill, and drive, Morthen’s barrier remained an unyielding bastion against his furious onslaught.
From inside his Calm Mountain barrier, Morthen seamlessly triggered another power, his motions smooth and ceaseless.
Gabriel and Israel’s brows furrowed instantly upon sensing the fresh flux in Morthen’s Astra energy; his vast, erratic arsenal left them guessing at the new ability’s nature.
Suddenly, the ground under Gabriel warped savagely, birthing a volley of earth spikes that lanced at him with insane velocity and deadly accuracy—one aimed straight for his jaw, as if Morthen sought to silence his rule-speaking forever.
Gabriel’s spear whipped into action, a streak of speed, shattering every spike before contact with exact, economical swipes that showcased his mastery.
Morthen dissolved his Calm Mountain shield, only to find Daniel’s liquid metal enveloping him upon reemergence. It swiftly shaped into a silvery prison, then sprouted myriad spikes from all angles, thrusting to skewer him inescapably.
Morthen treated it all as mere sport, dismissing the threats no matter their peril. Such a combo might force full focus from other Crownstar Life Rankers, but for him, it was just light amusement.
Just with a single thought, his soul-bound book turned its pages smoothly and familiarly.
Portals erupted open everywhere around him without delay, as each silver metal spike slammed into them with overwhelming power, yet right as they passed through, fresh portals materialized beyond the metal cage, positioned perfectly near Gabriel, Daniel, and Israel.
As those portals appeared, the trio sprang into action at once. Israel pushed his speed to the limit, his fists a whirlwind smashing toward each approaching spike, but it fell short against their explosive velocity and abrupt strike. The spikes ripped through his flesh savagely, since he had quit using Overclock to strengthen his defenses and save Astra energy.
Daniel, master of the metal spikes, escaped harm entirely as they froze inches from him. Gabriel suffered more, managing to block a few despite many piercing his body and leaving him badly hurt.
Gabriel’s voice boomed out while he quickly declared another rule.
The instant his words landed, a strange power washed over him, Israel, and Daniel right away. Moments later, their bodies mended perfectly, all wounds erased as if they had never happened.
Morthen drifted steadily inside the silver cage, totally unconcerned by their healing. For him, it changed little; these three just wouldn’t drop dead fast, dragging out the fight and ramping up the fun.
"I hope this is not everything you three have," Morthen said, "I am only using my basic abilities as of right now, and not even the mid-tier or advanced ones, if I use those, does that not mean you will simply die, are Crownstar Life Rankers this weak?" he declared in a condescending tone, peering down at them from his lofty spot, eyes sparkling with delight.
’Tsk, we are not weak, you Wargraves are just freaks of nature,’ Gabriel grumbled inwardly. They were still getting crushed even in a three-against-one clash.
"Cheer up," Morthen said with a grin, "I know the perfect thing that will make you all happy... a mid-tier ability from me," he added playfully, as his soul-bound book flipped its pages again.
Daniel, Israel, and Gabriel blurred away in retreat instantly, putting maximum space between them. Whatever that mid-tier ability turned out to be, they couldn’t risk staying close.
Morthen’s voice rang out while his Astra energy churned with fiercer might, the air quaking from its sheer pressure.
Then catastrophe unleashed, a reality-shattering pull ripping through all as space itself twisted and buckled, the entire world looking ready to shatter into oblivion.
If any fictional character had been there, they’d have smacked Morthen for calling a black hole just a mid-tier ability.
But it begged the question: if a Black Hole ranked only mid-tier for Morthen, what on earth did he deem advanced-tier?
