CLEAVER OF SIN Chapter 1233: Freeze
Previously on CLEAVER OF SIN...
At the voice, Vellamira froze on the spot. Yveric didn’t delay; the moment he used his Word Law ability and it took effect, he closed the distance in an instant. Appearing before Vellamira in a burst of motion, he thrust his lance without a shred of mercy, going for the head from the start.
As the attack was about to land, Vellamira broke free, her weapon, a fan, appearing in her left hand as it blurred upwards. With a heavy clanging sound, metal clashed against metal. A muffled bang rang outward with titanic impact, slamming into the corpses in the distance.
"Using your ability and enhancing yourself with Astra Energy augmentation from the get-go, Yveric? It seems you really do want to kill me."
Vellamira smiled as she remained where she stood without taking a step back. Unlike Yveric, she didn’t augment herself with Astra Energy, yet she wasn’t being overwhelmed.
She smiled with her beautiful face, then vanished the next moment as Yveric’s words came.
With a booming force, a rocketing, flame-based explosion erupted at the location where Vellamira had been standing before, as she had anticipated the attack before it even happened. The explosion rang outwards, consuming the corpses, decaying organs, and everything within a hundred thousand kilometres radius.
As the explosion reached Kraymar, he remained where he sat as it engulfed him, yet it did no damage whatsoever.
Vellamira was already upon Yveric. She appeared midair and behind him, her foot shooting towards his skull like a shooting star. Yveric’s reaction was instantaneous. He spun on his feet as his centre of gravity changed, his lance streaking upwards as he blocked with its side.
With a catastrophic bang, he was thrown backwards, his body covering hundreds of kilometres of shattered land. He rotated in the air and landed on his feet, his body skidding backwards as he came to an abrupt stop.
The moment he stopped, Vellamira was already there with a smile, the tip of her fan tearing towards Yveric’s forehead before he could even look up.
But Yveric didn’t need to look upwards. He read the flow of the wind and heard the faintest sound of the wind barrier tearing, hence predicting the attack.
He immediately twisted to the side, his old body moving like that of an old cat, nimble and graceful. But he didn’t dodge completely, as the razor-sharp fan tore the skin on his forehead, drawing a bit of blood.
But Yveric didn’t care. The moment he dodged, his lips parted once more as he spoke.
He immediately stacked buffs on himself, activating them instantly. His body felt the effects of the buffs as he felt himself growing stronger in real time. The injury on his forehead vanished as though it had never been there to begin with.
The moment he was done with the buffs, he unleashed a million thrusts with his lance within a split second, each tearing through space to unleash a shredding, cone-shaped blast wave upon Vellamira.
Vellamira’s smile didn’t vanish; her eyes shone with excitement. Her fans remained closed as she blurred into motion. She met each thrust with the guarded part of her fan and, with ridiculous precision and accuracy, her eyes tracked each attack instantly.
As she was deflecting, Yveric’s voice came once more.
His Astra Energy hummed as, the next moment, his cone-shaped attacks erupted into cataclysmic rings of compressed energy, slamming into Vellamira with point-blank wickedness.
Vellamira remained calm. She flicked her wrist and opened her fan. She waved it upwards through sheer physical strength and force. With the motion, the wind in the air twisted into a wall of wind, holding back the explosion as she moved backwards to avoid its range.
But as she moved backwards, Yveric was already there, his speed and reaction time now on another level. The moment he flickered into existence, he stabbed towards her nape, his lance aiming to tear a hole through her head and neck at the same time.
Vellamira’s eyes moved towards the attack without her turning her head. The moment her feet landed, making contact with the ground, she bent forward, effectively dodging.
But she didn’t just dodge. In that lowered motion, she spun around, her body now facing Yveric as she thrust forward with her own fan towards his throat, moving to end his life.
Yveric’s Astra Energy erupted once more, his Astra Vein humming with power as he spoke under his breath yet again.
The moment Spatial Phase was activated, Vellamira’s fan tore through his forehead, not affecting him in the slightest. Spatial Lock came next, instantly pinning Vellamira to her current position in space.
Yveric didn’t waste the opening. The moment Spatial Lock was in place, he unleashed an upward, underhand thrust from below. His silver lance tore through space like a sheet of paper as he aimed for Vellamira’s chin.
And just like with the Freeze attack from earlier, Vellamira broke free in time to react. While Yveric’s attack did work on her, it couldn’t hold her long enough for him to inflict an injury.
With her breaking free, Vellamira shifted into a back-flip, narrowly dodging the attack by a hair’s breadth. But the moment her feet met the ground again after her palm, Yveric spoke.
At his words, the Laws of Reality obeyed. Vellamira’s body shot forward the moment she landed as Gravitational Attraction worked like a magnet. Her brain immediately processed the situation as she anticipated that Yveric would thrust once more with that silver lance of his.
As she moved to recalibrate and defend, Yveric’s voice came yet again.
Astra Energy surged towards the twisted sky from Yveric’s body as, the next moment, an intense magnetic force was generated. Before the magnetic force could pull any metal forward, it compressed inwardly, then exploded with a rampaging force, slamming into Vellamira.
Vellamira didn’t hesitate in her reaction. A second fan appeared in her right hand, and with a flick of her wrists, she opened both fans. Their size rapidly increased as she used them to form walls around her.
The moment the fan walls were formed, the compressed, skin-shredding force of Magnetic Repulsion slammed into it with full force. The attack shot her backwards like a kite through a storm. Her fans shook under the pressure, threatening to collapse into metallic shards, but they held firm.
Yveric closed the distance, not giving Vellamira any second to breathe. His body appeared from the side, where the fan didn’t cover. The moment he was in position, he attacked without delay.
Astra Energy gathered around the tip of his lance with maddening intensity. Without missing a beat, he motioned forward as he performed an overhand thrust. The attack screamed down towards Vellamira’s head from above.
But Vellamira was determined not to use her ability or Astra Energy, as Yveric was simply not strong enough or worthy enough to make her use it.
Looking at the incoming thrust, she smirked, then stepped towards it, her fist clenching as a gauntlet appeared over it before shooting forward like a missile as she met the attack head-on. The collision was imminent, and neither combatant showed any intention of yielding.
