CLEAVER OF SIN Chapter 1066: Can’t Promise Anything

As Asher sat back staring at the ceiling, thinking about how to help Teo Swig, an idea suddenly flashed into his mind.

What if Teo Swig joined the Frontier?

What if Teo Swig joined any of the Wargrave Outposts, wouldn’t that also be like joining the Wargrave Knight Order Round? And on top of that, if he guessed right, there was always a lot of fighting at these Outposts and Frontiers, so Teo Swig could fight to his heart’s content there while also training at the same time.

The Wargrave Frontiers weren’t like the Knight Order Round. No Frontier trained any soldier from when they were little, or anything of the sort; they simply recruited people who applied, of course, not just any run-of-the-mill person, but people who actually qualified.

And to Asher, there was no way Teo Swig didn’t qualify. He had been on the same team as the boy during the Thinning Round, and although Teo Swig wasn’t as powerful as him, there was no denying it, the boy was strong and talented.

Even if the Frontiers rejected Teo Swig, which they wouldn’t, he could just go meet his Elder Brother Malrik and ask him for a favor. After all, what was the use of having a connection if you didn’t use it, right?

Besides, it was one soldier. Malrik could accept Teo Swig for him, Asher, even if it went against any sort of rules or something like that. Although, he didn’t know if any such rules were in place to begin with.

As for his Father, Azaron, Asher wasn’t sure the man had a Frontier he was overseeing. Such things would be too boring for the man or something, and if he had one in his earlier days, he must have simply stepped down and allowed the second-in-command to take over.

Asher didn’t hesitate to suggest the idea to Teo Swig.

"What if you joined any of my family members’ Frontiers? There, you can fight to your heart’s content and train too," he suggested.

But the moment he suggested that, Teo Swig shook his head as though he had already considered that possibility too.

"There is a difference between a Soldier at the Frontier and a Knight under a Ducal territory," Teo Swig stated with calm ease as he folded his hands across his chest.

"At the Frontiers and Outposts, you are just recruited for the sake of the safety of the Borders and against Monster and Empire invasions," Teo Swig continued. "Of course, the Commanders there would investigate your background, but they wouldn’t really interfere with a Soldier’s personal life." He sighed as he spoke in a somewhat defeated tone.

"Of course, they might or would interfere if that particular Soldier was already part of the Frontier for a couple of months or years. But being a new Soldier and expecting people to deploy their forces for you and offend a Viscount for you is somewhat wishful thinking," he analyzed, showing that he clearly wasn’t someone who only knew how to fight and swing his glaive, but could also think ahead of what was required.

Asher sat in a defeated sigh, ’Should I just tell him I can’t help?’ he thought to himself.

He and Teo Swig weren’t friends by any means; they were merely acquaintances at best, so he, Asher, had no need to really do any of these things for the boy. He wasn’t the type of person who went around granting favors to people just because they asked.

Of course, he could ask Malrik to accept Teo Swig and tell him to meet up with Viscount Raymond, but Asher wasn’t sure if any of this was worth making Malrik confront the Viscount and creating unnecessary hatred and stuff.

But...

’At the end of the day, the world is pretty much the strong preying on the weak, just as Viscount Raymond has been tormenting Teo Swig’s family,’ Asher thought to himself.

Even if Malrik confronted Viscount Raymond, what could the Viscount even do about it if he was angry or anything of the sort? Malrik’s reputation spoke for itself, and the Wargrave reputation spoke for itself as well.

In this scenario, fear would override anger.

And besides, Asher simply decided to do this for the sake of it. Since Viscount Raymond had a habit of raping people, he might as well just save one person. Although he wasn’t a Hero or anything of the sort, he could at least do this much. Only a Hero could confront Viscount Raymond to save the potential rape victims and avenge those who had been raped.

His purple eyes turned towards Teo Swig as he spoke, "I can’t promise anything, but since your graduation test is set to begin in two days, I will see what I can do in two days," he stated, not promising anything. "And if I can’t help, I will at least inform you in time for you to contact an Instructor and ask them how to serve under Cindralis."

Teo Swig, who was seated opposite him, nodded as he spoke, "I understand, Tenth Sun." A small, genuine smile appeared on his lips. "Even if it doesn’t work, the fact that you are willing to help is already enough," he stated in pure gratitude.

Asher, seeing Teo Swig smile, simply arched an eyebrow. Teo Swig was almost like Azaron in the sense that both of them simply wore a stone-carved expression anywhere they went.

"You’re welcome," he spoke calmly, "but leave a way to contact you in case I need to tell you anything." His expression remained unchanged.

Personally, he didn’t want to go over to the building reserved for the third years to find Teo Swig. There was no special reason; he just didn’t want to go.

Teo simply nodded and took out an orb, passing it to Asher as he spoke, "Just channel your Astra Energy into it, and I will answer any time. I won’t be in training for the next two days, so don’t hesitate to contact me," he explained.

Asher nodded as he accepted the orb, and it vanished into his space ring the next moment.

With that, Teo Swig rose to his feet as he spoke, "I can’t thank you enough, Tenth Sun." He stretched out a hand.

Asher shook his hand as he replied, "You can continue saying thank you when I actually do anything." A small smile appeared on his face as he shook his head.

With that, he led Teo Swig to the door. As Teo Swig vanished into the descending staircase, Asher closed his door with a sigh.

’Since I have nothing doing, I might as well just begin right now,’ Asher thought to himself as the rectangular wooden talisman that Malrik had given him appeared in his hand.

As he was about to channel Astra Energy into it, he suddenly stopped. If he did that, Malrik might misunderstand and come here, guns blazing. It was probably best to just teleport back to their family estate, and if Malrik wasn’t there, which he probably wouldn’t be, then he could call him through the wooden talisman.

With that thought, Asher didn’t delay doing anything else. With a thought, he activated the Position Marker in his personal room back at the family estate and vanished in a faint silver flash.
