Chrysalis Chapter 1732 - Army Wide Rumble
Previously on Chrysalis...
Having showcased the dominance of my acidic output, I've undoubtedly extracted plenty of resources from my foes. Enduring that kind of devastating acid onslaught must have sapped their mana and mental stamina, that's for certain.
I've also compelled them to abandon their spot. If they'd chosen to remain stationary, they'd face the danger of just hunkering down while I unleashed additional waves of acid upon them. Evidently, they refused to endure that fate and opted to surge forward with fierce determination!
Excellent.
A warmth builds in my head as my mental frameworks toil relentlessly, mana coiling and shaping at unbelievable velocity while I ready myself for combat. I've got a ton of tricks lined up for these troublemakers, and I'm eager to unleash the payload.
It's a solid way to blow off steam!
At my rear, the two units I summoned are shifting into supportive roles, joined by Tiny and Invidia. Crinis is concealed close by but not within my shadow, as I ordered her to find another hiding place, dismissing her protests. She can dive into the fray when the timing is right.
Alright, let's see how you handle this!
Chuckling inwardly, I summon a gravity well. Potent yet unenhanced, I position it right above their oncoming group, altering the gravitational pull to force them crashing into the earth.
For smaller bands of explorers, this proved an outstanding offensive tactic, as they lacked the power to shatter or resist the spell. I recall what Granin shared ages ago is true: monsters far outstrip lone humans in strength, particularly at elevated tiers. Not even fifty skilled and seasoned individuals can match me.
This just confirms that monsters reign supreme! Gweheheheh.
Yet, facing what appears to be nearly a hundred humans, the gravity well I form gets torn apart within moments.
Oof.
Well... that's predictable enough. Heaven knows how many of these guys can manipulate mana externally. With thousands of thoughts assaulting my spell once it's active, it's way beyond what I can fend off alone.
Fine then!
The story has been taken without consent; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident.
Now for the Enhanced Gravity Well! Take that!
At first, they absolutely despise it. I invested a massive amount of power into this well, boosted by the enhancement, creating a forceful crush that pins folks to the dirt and leaves them miserable. Following the initial round of brutal impacts, the tide shifts swiftly as all those minds unite to dismantle my spell.
How on earth can they shred it so quickly? Even with their sheer numbers, it shouldn't be feasible to obliterate my Gravity Well at this pace. Something suspicious is afoot here. Weren't they meant to be exhausted from blocking the acid? Yep, this reeks.
I know this odor. The rotten tang of mischief!
No worries. I'm not relying on these Gravity Wells to clinch the victory or anything; I was merely probing their remaining reserves. Turns out, they've got loads.
So I'll need to grind them down even harder.
Wow, they can traverse distance surprisingly swiftly. It's odd watching a whole force march straight at me like this. They're advancing smoothly, and soon they'll be upon me, turning the situation precarious.
I draw forth additional mana to unleash chaos, but an unexpected event catches me off guard before I begin.
From the Judgement Battalion, that dazzling glow erupts again, briefly overwhelming my sight with its intense burst. My vision sharpens fast, revealing the light has solidified once more. No wings this round, but spears—scores of them—suspended in the sky over the rushing soldiers.
My antennae blare alerts, and I respond instinctively, letting go of the Well's grip on me and plummeting like a rock.
Maybe they foresaw my move, or perhaps they launched them in a wide spread. With limited options to evade mid-air, I contort as much as possible, yet I can't dodge every one. A spear as thick as a utility pole rams into my flank, impaling me like succulent kebabs from the Middle East and burrowing deep into my shell.
Yeeouch! What in blazes was that!? There was hardly any buildup to that incantation, and it zipped so incredibly fast I couldn't track it! How is that evenhanded? If it's got zero prep and hurtles like an actual projectile, shouldn't it sacrifice piercing force or whatever? How the heck did it breach my sparkling exoskeleton?!
Right now, I must thank my lucky stars for a couple of factors. Firstly, the spear isn't solid matter, but a pure energy construct, so after scorching my innards viciously, it dissipates entirely, allowing me to haul myself up from the dirt, quite irked.
Secondly, Tiny pummeled me for a solid five minutes right before I ascended, striking at his utmost speed. Which is insanely rapid. Even though the ache had started to subside by the time I nearly got skewered, my body remains flooded with restorative fluids.
Chilling elixir floods my veins, flooding toward the injury site and mending the harm in mere seconds.
Heheheheh. Tough luck, losers! You'll need way more than that. A whole lot more.
My thoughts keep racing, and an Enhanced Gravity Domain unfurls from me at the core. The force is drawing near now. Time to clash directly.
