Checking in for 100,000 Years Chapter 479: Mysterious Black Coffin, Flowing Upstream

~5 minute read · 1,140 words

Although the golden bell could defend against Pupil Skill attacks, Big Black Cat was out of options after the long battle and decided to try it.

A wave of the Power of Life and Death instantly swept over, descending upon the Golden Winged Roc’s head.

DING...

The small golden bell vibrated gently, managing to block most of the Power of Life and Death.

However, a faint trace of the power still managed to seep through.

This sliver of power caused a faint wave of dizziness in the Golden Winged Roc’s mind.

The Golden Winged Roc was surprised. They had been fighting for so long, and he was growing weary, yet the Nine-tailed Spirit Cat opposite him was still full of vigor.

Now, it was even using this strange Pupil Skill attack, and it had broken through the defenses of the Holy Soul Clock.

Seeing that his Sky Exterminating Phantom Eye attack wasn’t very effective, Big Black Cat sighed, feeling a sense of helplessness.

Now, all he had left was his powerful physique to clash head-on with his opponent.

Ultimately, it would come down to a contest of endurance.

BOOM! BOOM!

The two continued their fierce battle, the deafening sounds of combat echoing incessantly.

Fortunately, there were no strange creatures nearby to launch a joint attack on them.

The battle continued for several more Time Units.

The Golden Winged Roc felt he couldn’t take it anymore. There was no point in continuing this fight.

WHOOSH!

After feigning an attack for a while, the Golden Winged Roc suddenly leaped high into the air, transformed into his true form, and with a flap of his wings, stirred up a fierce gale that rolled towards the Nine-tailed Spirit Cat. Then, with another beat of his wings, he tore through the sky and fled.

Seeing the Golden Winged Roc attempting to flee again, Big Black Cat was fuming.

After fighting for so long just now, he and the Golden Winged Roc had been evenly matched. Big Black Cat no longer felt any fear towards the Golden Winged Roc.

Activating his Teleportation Boots, he fiercely gave chase.

The Golden Winged Roc flew frantically ahead, with the Nine-tailed Spirit Cat in hot pursuit. The two engaged in a wild chase across the Nether Immortal Ancient Land.

However, near the thirty-ninth Heavenly Mechanism Tower, there were hardly any Cultivators seeking training, so no one saw them.

They flew for about the time it takes an incense stick to burn.

The Golden Winged Roc had no idea where he had flown.

Suddenly, he was startled to find a massive river ahead.

The river was black, its dark waves splashing, giving off an exceptionally strange feeling.

The Golden Winged Roc was about to cross this black river. But just as he flew over its surface, he suddenly saw enormous black coffins emerging from the water.

Seeing these sinister coffins, the Golden Winged Roc instantly felt his scalp tingle, and an indescribable sense of dread welled up in his heart.

WHOOSH!

Black coffin lids suddenly flew off, tumbling into the river.

From his vantage point in the air, the Golden Winged Roc could see clearly that every black coffin was empty.

Just as he was feeling bewildered, suddenly, countless black coffins rose into the sky, surrounding the Golden Winged Roc.

"Haha! Heaven is truly on my side!"

Seeing this, Big Black Cat couldn’t help but feel elated.

A streak of black light flashed past.

Big Black Cat also caught up, positioning himself above the river and blocking the Golden Winged Roc’s escape route.

"Golden Winged Roc, those who commit many injustices are doomed to self-destruct! You must have done too many evil deeds, right? Now even coffins want to take you!"

Big Black Cat roared with laughter.

"Don’t you dare block my path!"

The Golden Winged Roc’s face darkened. He moved, striking out with his Sword at the nearest coffin.

His Sword slashed into the black coffin without making a sound; instead, the blade sank deep into it.

Alarm surged in the Golden Winged Roc’s heart as he tried to pull out his Longsword.

Suddenly, a black ray of light shot out from the black coffin, struck the Golden Winged Roc, and sucked him inside.

BANG!

A coffin lid flew up from the river’s surface and sealed the coffin. The entire black coffin then plummeted from mid-air, splashing down onto the water.

What shocked Big Black Cat was that this black coffin, now containing the Golden Winged Roc, moved against the current, as agile as a swimming fish.

HISS!

Big Black Cat gasped.

Just as he was about to pursue that black coffin, all the other coffins suddenly swarmed in, surrounding him once more.

Big Black Cat’s expression changed drastically.

Big Black Cat didn’t attack. He turned to flee, attempting to use the incredible speed of his Teleportation Boots to break through the gaps between the coffins.

A black coffin suddenly moved in a bizarre way, positioning itself directly in Big Black Cat’s escape path and shooting out a black beam of light.

Big Black Cat was instantly scared half to death.

The black light was unimaginably fast; Big Black Cat had no time to dodge. Enveloped by the black light, he too was sucked into a coffin.

BANG!

A coffin lid flew up from the water, landed on the coffin, and sealed it perfectly.

This black coffin also dropped from mid-air, landing on the surging river and swiftly moving upstream against the current.

Viewed from high above in the distance, two coffins, one behind the other, resembled two large black fish, continuously swimming rapidly upriver.

The other coffins also fell from mid-air and sank back into the river. Who knew if they drifted elsewhere with the current.

Lying in the pitch-black coffin, Big Black Cat felt like crying but had no tears.

He tried to strike the coffin hard with his Black Shield, but found it was soft. It caved in like a sponge, absorbing and neutralizing all his power.

After struggling for a while to no avail, Big Black Cat so he simply gave up.

Big Black Cat felt a growing unease.

Big Black Cat thought with dismay.

The black river meandered, snaking through many regions of the Nether Immortal Ancient Land.

The two black coffins traveled upstream, crossing mountains and valleys along the river. Unconsciously, they neared the forty-third Heavenly Mechanism Tower, arriving at the great lake within the valley.

As the first black coffin rushed into the great lake, the small black boats originally moored there excitedly scattered in all directions.

The black coffin reached the center of the lake and then, with a GURGLE, it suddenly sank, disappearing into the black waters.
