Checking in for 100,000 Years Chapter 1075: Little Mirror, Why Don’t You Pick One?
Previously on Checking in for 100,000 Years...
Imitation Mirror’s current state felt like a persimmon lodged in its throat, an uncomfortable, unresolved sensation.
Should it just release a fart to alleviate this?
What in the world... what kind of clueless fool would even conceive such a preposterous notion?
If it weren't trapped deep within the lion's den, Imitation Mirror would have undoubtedly erupted by now.
To oblivion with them.
Who would possibly stoop to belittling someone in such a manner?
"Haha..."
Echoing from the engulfing darkness, a chorus of laughter erupted from countless fearsome Divine Pets.
Imitation Mirror’s countenance darkened further.
"Little Mirror, do you perhaps sense that my suggestion was somewhat disrespectful towards you?"
The distant, formidable shadow ceased its laughter, inquiring in a nonchalant tone.
Imitation Mirror: "..."
Confronted with such a direct inquiry, Imitation Mirror found itself momentarily bewildered.
Truly, as expected of Divine Pets, their directness was remarkable; engaging in conversation with them proved to be an utterly draining experience.
Far too taxing on the mind.
Imitation Mirror let out an internal sigh, yet maintained an outward composure.
"My friend, you appear to be an unrivaled powerhouse yourself, surely you jest with me. However, how potent must a fart be to expel a Quasi-Emperor..."
Imitation Mirror cleared its throat, articulating with an air of confident inquiry.
"You, Little Mirror, possess a remarkable ability with words. Actually, I am not deceiving you. Within the master’s Divine Pet Warehouse, numerous such 'unrivaled' powerhouse-esque farts do indeed exist. Releasing one is an earth-shattering event, as perilous as a heavenly tribulation!"
The terrifying shadow stated with a resonant, deep voice.
"Such potent farts exist?"
Imitation Mirror was utterly dumbfounded, its mental faculties struggling to keep pace.
This revelation completely shattered its understanding of the world.
Do they not employ magical treasures in combat? Can they simply resort to expelling gas instead?
What twisted logic governs this realm?
It was fortunate, at least, that this was the Divine Pet Warehouse. Had this been the magical treasure warehouse, those formidable entities within would likely have succumbed to fits of uncontrollable laughter upon hearing such a proposition.
"Truly, disparate species harbor entirely divergent modes of thought..."
Imitation Mirror mused internally.
"Within the master’s warehouse reside all manner of powerful Divine Pets, and as for these flatulent Divine Pets, a significant number are present. Come, summon them all forth..."
The terrifying shadow declared.
Upon hearing this, a multitude of the Divine Pets erupted into boisterous laughter.
"Haha, we can certainly find them, but ensure they refrain from farting within the confines of the warehouse!"
One Divine Pet chimed in with laughter.
"Fear not, should they do so, let them release their gas within the mirror itself!"
The terrifying shadow chuckled, amused.
Imitation Mirror: "..."
From the depths of the darkness, countless menacing figures stirred, seemingly engaged in a diligent search for something.
Imitation Mirror remained suspended in mid-air, a picture of bewildered confusion.
"Little Mirror, I comprehend your apprehension..."
The terrifying shadow suddenly let out a laugh.
"Apprehension regarding what?"
Imitation Mirror inquired, its expression impassive.
"You are concerned that such a mighty fart, once unleashed within, would not only blast that old geezer away but potentially contaminate the very space within you, correct?"
The shadow articulated nonchalantly.
"Well... I am indeed considering that possibility."
After a brief moment of hesitation, Imitation Mirror swiftly nodded in agreement.
The old adage holds true: inviting a deity is simple, but escorting them out proves a formidable challenge.
These 'fart-expert' Divine Pets, once admitted into its mirror space, might very well contaminate the Super Divine Dragon Breath residing within.
Although, in reality, it wouldn’t cause any significant detriment.
Yet, it possessed sentience now, after all.
Its consciousness was not entirely dissimilar to human thought processes.
Consequently, within Imitation Mirror’s core, a sense of unease began to brew.
"To be candid, our warehouse houses numerous Divine Pets that specialize in consuming all manner of foul odors, and the noxious gas emitted by these flatulent Divine Pets is precisely their most delectable fare!"
The terrifying shadow boasted with evident pride.
"Blast it all, that's terrifyingly ingenious!"
Imitation Mirror shuddered uncontrollably, nearly losing its balance.
What peculiar Divine Pets populated this Divine Pet Warehouse?
Some possessed formidable gas-releasing capabilities, while others excelled at absorbing noxious fumes.
The mere contemplation of such a dichotomy was enough to instill fear.
Imitation Mirror abruptly realized that its decision to enter the Divine Pet Warehouse had been a monumental error.
Had it instead ventured into the magical treasure warehouse, the worst that could have happened would be a few lighthearted jests, and that old geezer would have been exposed.
But here, the situation had escalated dramatically for the worse.
A single misstep, and it had plunged headfirst into a trap.
Escape seemed utterly impossible, even if it harbored the desire.
Imitation Mirror was acutely aware that as the inaugural treasure to enter the Divine Pet Warehouse, it would undoubtedly be regarded with novelty by the myriad terrifying Divine Pets within, who would seize the opportunity to torment it.
"A curse upon it, forget it. After all, I am merely a magical treasure, not truly a sentient being.
I ought to be—heartless!"
Imitation Mirror offered itself a modicum of self-consolation.
Despite its formidable power, it recognized the necessity of remaining composed.
This was the Divine Pet Warehouse, and as a mere magical treasure, it stood no chance against the collective might of so many terrifying Divine Pets.
It was possible that certain formidable Divine Pets possessed strength that far exceeded even this treasure.
With this thought in mind.
Imitation Mirror was already conceding defeat in its heart.
"They're arriving, they are here..."
One of the Divine Pets exclaimed.
A host of shadows descended, circling Imitation Mirror.
As it surveyed its surroundings.
The Divine Pets were colossal, their forms bizarre – some menacing, others serene, a mix of furry and sleek, some adorned with multiple horns, others entirely hornless...
"This Little Mirror is the master's treasured artifact, and it requires you to enter its inner world to expel an ancient immortal. Who will volunteer for this mission?"
The imposing shadow loomed high above them all, gazing down, and declared solemnly.
"I'll go..."
"I volunteer!"
Numerous Divine Pets clamored, each eager to seize the opportunity.
Were they truly competing for this task?
Imitation Mirror rolled its eyes in sheer exasperation.
"Enough, enough! Cease your squabbling. Inside resides a powerful ancient being. If you lack the sufficient strength, do not overexert yourselves..."
Imitation Mirror announced loudly.
"These Divine Pets, all possessing distinguished lineages, should have no trouble accomplishing the task you've assigned!"
The terrifying shadow stated.
It cast another glance into the distance and then, with a sudden motion, reached out its hand, grasping fiercely.
A spectral white figure, its features indistinct, hazy and vague, materialized before Imitation Mirror.
"Your role will be to enter later and... consume the lingering essence."
The shadow instructed.
"Understood! A pleasure to serve!"
The white Divine Pet responded with palpable excitement.
Within this mystical repository, the sheer abundance of Divine Pets meant that many hesitated to release their internal energies carelessly.
This reticence deprived such Divine Pets of numerous chances to elevate their cultivation realms.
"Blast it all, so this is the one with the peculiar appetite!"
Imitation Mirror muttered inwardly.
Despite the overall haziness of its form, Imitation Mirror could still discern the creature's appearance.
It was furry, somewhat resembling a small fox, and carried an air of cuteness.
"Curses! I swear never to return to the magical treasure warehouse again; it truly shatters my worldview..."
Imitation Mirror made a silent vow in its heart.
It felt utterly destabilized, bordering on frantic.
The imposing shadow gazed down from above, inquiring, "Little Mirror, will you make a selection?"
"Do as you please, just get rid of that troublesome old fellow swiftly!"
Imitation Mirror replied with resignation.
To steady itself, it suddenly expanded to a colossal size, its mirrored maw opening wide and remaining fixed in that posture.
Subsequently, it ceased all sensory input, entering a state of profound stillness.
"This Little Mirror truly cannot let go of its composure!"
Within the ethereal expanse.
The shadow chuckled, casually waving its immense hand and issuing a command.
"Hurry! All of you, charge forth! Demonstrate the formidable power housed within our Divine Pet Warehouse!"
