Celestial Bloodline Chapter 963: Let nothing escape
Previously on Celestial Bloodline...
With bloodshot eyes glued to the far-off streaks of light, despair and hopelessness shrouded their minds as they desperately clawed at the shadowy tendrils devouring their power, struggling to comprehend the utter chaos unfolding—a faint hum suddenly reverberated through the air.
It came from the obsidian-eyed figure who had already slain someone right before their very eyes.
Advancing slowly while humming a soft tune to himself, enormous ghostly skulls materialized from the darkness with every step he took. His gentle voice drifted across the void, as tender as if inviting a child to join in play.
"Go... devour however you want, whoever you want. Let no one and nothing escape."
At his command, the dark skulls quivered as though giggling in delight and burst outward in every direction, chasing after the encroaching darkness. Sinister murmurs of die, die, completely disappear alongside me whispered ominously through the air.
Ordinary Celestials dwelling on the lands closest to the Layer of Three Ancients were the first to shriek and scatter upon spotting a colossal wave of darkness crashing toward them like a raging tsunami. The entire Celestial realm had been gripped by alarm throughout the past week, ever since violent tremors erupted from the ancient realm and demolished countless nearby structures.
They knew full well that hordes of Rulers and Celestials had converged near the ancient realm upon realizing it was the epicenter of the quakes, poised to confront the threat.
Numerous weaker Celestials had even hung around the vicinity, eager to uncover the mystery. Yet they scattered in terror after glimpsing the grim patrols of countless Rulers encircling the Gate of the Layer of Ancients.
Only the mightiest were permitted to stay. Now, as the darkness pursued them relentlessly, they realized instinctively that even the most powerful Rulers had failed to slay whatever horror had burst forth from the Layer of Ancients—and that they were utterly alone!
The gigantic skulls lurking within the darkness ignored the frantic screams of the Celestials, showing mercy to none. Ruthlessly, they chomped down on everyone swallowed by the shadows, leaving nothing but devastation behind. The distant uproar was so intense that it startled even the veteran Celestials—the winged warriors and armored Giants—inside the Golden Hall of Light, where fresh arrivals registered their identities. They all leaped to their feet upon seeing the Bridge of Divinity, linking the Celestial Realm to the Lower Universes, shudder violently from the remote turmoil. The elderly Celestial in the Golden Hall of Light who had once attempted to eliminate Kyle upon detecting his potential threat to the Rulers’ dominance on his very first day in the higher plane—bellowed harshly at the towering guards manning the grand gates to the deeper Celestial Realm.
"What is going on? Go check!"
The winged warriors and giants rushed off to probe under his urgent command.
As they departed, the elderly Celestials in the Golden Hall of Light abruptly spotted cracks forming on the Bridge of Divinity. Horror seized them, while newly ascended Celestials traversing the bridge erupted in panic.
In the end, one elderly Celestial emerged from the Hall, his robed form floating above the Bridge of Divinity to survey the crisis. His expression darkened instantly as he eyed the other elders who had trailed after him.
"Let’s shut down all the gates of the lower universes leading to the Celestial realm for the time being until we stabilize whatever is happening. It seems the Ruler who created the Bridge has either died or withdrawn his power, so he can no longer support it."
Another voice rang out from behind.
"Yizhe, that guy won’t die so easily. But whatever is happening doesn’t look good. Moreover, if we shut down all the gates, it’s going to create chaos in the Lower Realms when people fail to leave after ascending. Celestials remaining in their universe for too long can trigger widespread disorder."
The previous speaker furrowed his brow.
"That’s not something we need to worry about. Protecting the Bridge of Divinity, which took years to form, is our priority."
He turned to the group.
"First, let’s deal with the problems in the Celestial Realm; the rest can be handled later. Some of you, come with me. Let’s spread out and shut all the gates of the Lower Universes, while the others handle the people on the bridge and in the Hall."
Several elders nodded gravely and trailed him, vanishing in various directions to seal the gates with utmost speed. At the same time, the fresh Celestials on the Bridge of Divinity and within the Golden Hall of Light were hastily guided into the Celestial Realm by the remaining elders, skipping the standard identification.
Once all gates were sealed shut, the elders traversed the deserted bridge and Hall before hurtling toward the chaos's origin. By the moment they beheld the darkness, it had already consumed a vast swath of the Realm.
One elder, who hadn’t sworn in ages, spat out a furious curse.
"What the hell is this?!"
They distinctly heard the terrified wails of Celestials resounding nearby, witnessed hordes fleeing the encroaching darkness, and trembled in fear.
Even from afar, they recognized their own power was insufficient to halt it.
Suddenly, the elderly Celestial who had once targeted Kyle seized the closest elder, his face ashen.
"That dark Celestial..."
His voice quivered.
"That person who passed the Golden Hall of Light without our permission—the one who later caused a scene in the Rulers’ territory—was he captured in the end?"
Those listening instantly grasped his implication, their faces draining of color too.
"Impossible... it can’t be him! Can it? How could he become so powerful in such a short time?? It must be someone else!"
Yet, to their mounting horror, the elderly Celestial’s face grew even whiter.
"You all know my intuition has never been wrong. But I hope I am this time... because that Celestial’s obsidian eyes held nothing. I could tell, if he becomes powerful, he won’t stop until he destroys everything!"
