The next morning, Gardenia finally woke from her deep slumber, still exhausted from helping Elayne forge so many soul treasures the day before. Elayne, however, felt energized and eager. The time had finally come to tap into her Spiritual Energy Reserves and relearn the abilities and powers from her past life.

She had already used some of those reserves yesterday, yet she still possessed plenty for the next steps she had in mind. Because most of them required Gardenia’s assistance, she had patiently waited for her friend to recover.

Even after waking, Gardenia still looked somewhat drained, so the two decided to start the day with a large, nourishing breakfast. Elayne filled the meal with generous amounts of spirit crystals and nether crystals. Gardenia had mutated in the Netherworld and could now absorb these dark energies, though the process still tired her. Each time she synthesized them, however, it became a little easier.

"Ugh, you really love pushing me," Gardenia complained. "At least give me a few hours to recover before we do anything else too taxing!"

"I’m sorry. Are you that tired?" Elayne asked, surprised. "I’ve been away for a while, so I thought you would have grown stronger. Aren’t you?"

"I mean, of course I am stronger..." Gardenia muttered. "Just..."

"She’s been mostly lazing around," Mark said bluntly. "She got used to being lazy and now tires faster, even though she should be much stronger by now."

"Mark, you damn bastard! Why are you snitching!" Gardenia cried angrily. "You traitorous snake!"

"Is that so?" Elayne’s eyes sharpened. "Gardenia, don’t get cocky. We need to work hard if we want to overcome this situation. And don’t get too comfortable either."

"Ugh, okay, but who built that forge for you? Me! I did it!" Gardenia protested. "So stop saying I don’t do anything, because I really am working my best here. It’s just that some of you think I don’t, but I do! I really do... Ahem. And this food might not be enough. I need more! Can’t we go back to that Inner Spirit Realm inside your soul? The one we visited months ago? I’m curious how the giantess is doing. I still remember the food there being the best for us!"

"Hmm, I guess we haven’t visited Lady Giantess in a while," Elayne said with a nod. "Maybe later, but not right now. For now, finish your food while I check my status and see what we can unlock."

Elayne opened her status screen once more, carefully reviewing her progress, spiritual energy reserves, and available options.

The first thing she noticed was that after practicing all night by conjuring sunlight from her hands, she had reached maximum mastery on her Soul Trait. Now at 100%, it could finally evolve into a higher tier. Such an evolution would strengthen her soul, making it larger and more robust. Her sunlight powers would grow significantly as well. This could cause her overall strength to skyrocket, especially against undead. It had become one of her greatest advantages in the Netherworld.

"Let’s see. System, is it possible to upgrade this?" she wondered. "Or do I need Gardenia?"

Elayne tried to upgrade the trait, but as expected, nothing happened. The system had its limits. Although it could absorb and accept her unique powers, it needed someone like Gardenia, a powerful Divine Spirit, to properly implant and integrate them.

"Gardenia, help?" she asked.

"Fine..." Gardenia nodded while lazily biting into a large dark blue apple shaped like a skull. "Hmm! What’s this?! It’s so sweet, but it has a nice wine aftertaste."

"It’s a Skull Poison Fruit," Elayne explained. "It used to be an incredibly poisonous fruit that would curse anyone who ate it. Noble races that consumed it often died instantly and rose as undead while suffering terrible agony. Undead can eat them if they are strong enough to resist the curses. I modified it over time to make it completely harmless. Now it provides excellent nutrients, and both undead and living beings can eat it without any problems."
