"I was wondering if they can overlap, like acquiring more than one?" Elayne asked.

"Ah yes, that is how they evolve into higher ranks," Shade explained. "I’m sorry, but there isn’t really any other way."

"I’ll go for the Rune of Bones," Elayne decided. "It’s one I was planning to get anyway."

"Very well... Master..." Shade nodded. His needle began glowing with dark cursed energy.

The process was painful, but the moment Shade finished, Elayne immediately felt the changes. Her bones had become significantly tougher without growing heavier. She felt more flexible and noticeably stronger in her stance.

Inside the expansive structure, ghostly and spirit flames surged endlessly. A single dedicated spirit was handling the entire operation herself, supported by a couple dozen skeleton laborers who were helping in exchange for private Spirit Art lessons later.

"Gardenia! Hey!"

"Ah! You’re finally out of that cave, huh?" Gardenia emerged from the building. "You look weird as hell too! What the hell happened to you?"

"Ah, I evolved twice," Elayne replied. "I became a Sword Revenant and then an Abyssal Myconid! Cool, right?"

"Eeeeh?! And you didn’t even ask me?! What if you had turned into a demon?" Gardenia asked in disbelief.

"Oh my gosh, calm down. None of those things are going to happen," Elayne sighed. "As an Undead, I just have to keep leveling and evolving. That’s how it works. It will happen again and again. That’s simply how life is in the Netherworld. If I want to return to how things were before, I just have to make some sacrifices."

"Uh, okay Elayne, sure," Gardenia sighed. "You’ve changed a lot... but whatever. Come on inside."

Gardenia invited Elayne into the forge. The two of them stepped into the heart of the majestic flames. The forge had been intricately built and infused with many new runes and spiritual magic circles.

"This forge is specifically made to create Spirit Weapons, upgrade them, and refine Soul Treasures!" Gardenia explained proudly. "You add the materials into the chimney, burn their essence, and imbue it into the items as you hammer them, just like in the old days. Remember, Heir of Hephaestus?"

"I know," Elayne nodded with confidence. "It sounds fun. I actually have some things I want to upgrade, so this is perfect..."
