Lukas and João explore New York City, enjoying their day off and taking photos. Lukas reflects on his recent loss but finds solace in the present moment with Joanna and João. The next morning, Lukas wakes early to find his father, Javi, working on his doctorate. They discuss Javi's plan to move to Manchester with Lukas, as well as Lukas's uncertainty about attending university and the potential distance from Joanna. Lukas then reveals his summer plans: visiting Spain with Joanna and then heading to Mallorca to visit Erling Haaland.

The question caused Javi to pause briefly.

"I’ve already spoken to her."

"And?"

Javi smiled.

"She understands."

Lukas studied his father’s face for a few seconds.

"Are you guys going to be alright?"

"We’ll be fine."

The answer came immediately.

There wasn’t even a hint of uncertainty in his voice.

"We’re adults, Lukas. We knew this situation was coming eventually. You were never going to stay in Frankfurt forever."

Lukas nodded slowly.

"I know."

"And besides," Javi continued, "it’s not like Manchester is on another planet. There are flights."

"Fair point."

"If I can survive your football schedule, I can survive a few plane rides."

That earned a laugh from Lukas.

"Good to know."

"Trust me. Worry about your own life. I’ve got mine under control."

Lukas smiled and finally relaxed.

If Javi wasn’t worried, then there wasn’t much point in him worrying either.

At that exact moment, another door opened.

João stumbled out of his room looking half asleep.

His hair looked like he had been electrocuted sometime during the night and simply decided to live with the consequences.

Without saying a word, he headed directly for the fridge.

Lukas looked at him.

"When did we come back last night?"

João opened the fridge door and stared inside for several seconds.

"I honestly don’t know."

"You came back with us."

"I know."

"So how do you not know?"

João grabbed a bottle of water.

"The whole thing feels blurry."

Lukas laughed.

"You’re talking like you got drunk."

João immediately pointed the bottle at him.

"How would you know what being drunk feels like? You’re 16."

"So?"

João looked toward Javi.

Javi looked back.

Then both of them started laughing.

Lukas looked between them and shook his head.

"You two are impossible."

"That’s rich coming from you," João shot back.

"What does that mean?"

"It means you spent half of yesterday taking pictures of buildings."

"They were famous buildings."

"You took 12 pictures of the same building."

"It looked different from every angle."

João looked at Javi again.

"See what I have to deal with?"

Javi nodded solemnly,.

"It must be very difficult."

"Exactly."

Lukas grabbed a cushion from the couch and threw it at both of them.

Neither managed to dodge.

Which only made everyone laugh harder.

"So..." João started, "where are we going next?"

"Spain."

"Niceee, when do we leave?"

"In 2 days, Joanna wants to watch the final first."

" Yeah is there a need for that? PSG is gonna wipe the floor with Chelsea. See what they did to Real Madrid?"

" Well, I won’t be too sure about that if I were you," Lukas responded as he grabbed an apple from the fruit bowl on the table.

"Wanna bet?"

"Really?" Lukas asked as his eyes lighted up and he turned to face João, " let’s do that! Pick any amount you want."

João recoiled in his seat as he gave Lukas the side eye, "uhmmm... No... You’re too eager for my liking. I rescind my offer."

"Oh no, c’mon! I thought I’d make some easy money from you today."

"You wish... But seriously though, you think Chelsea stand a chance?" João asked.

"Yes they do."

" We’ll see."

Two days later

The private jet touched down smoothly on the runway at Palma de Mallorca Airport just after midday, its wheels kissing the tarmac before the aircraft gradually slowed and began taxiing toward one of the private terminals.

Lukas barely noticed.

He was still sitting comfortably in his seat with his phone pressed against his ear, a grin resting on his face as he listened to the familiar voice coming through the speaker.

Across the screen, Jamal Musiala sat with his injured foot elevated on a cushion beside him. Even through a video call, the frustration was obvious. Footballers hated being injured. More than the pain itself, it was the helplessness that came with it. Watching your teammates play while you were forced to sit and recover was a different kind of torture.

"You’re really calling me from a private jet," Musiala said.

Lukas laughed.

"You’re just jealous."

"I’m absolutely jealous."

Musiala shifted slightly in his seat before immediately wincing.

Joanna, who had been quietly listening from beside Lukas, winced as well.

"That looked painful."

"It was painful," Musiala admitted.

"See?" Joanna pointed at the screen. "I told you."

Musiala chuckled.

"Thank you for the sympathy."

"You’re welcome."

"Don’t worry, I’ll give Donnarumma a stern talking to on your behalf when I see him at the club," Lukas said.

"What club?" Musiala asked, confused, "isn’t he in PSG? Or is City trying to sign him??"

Lukas put his palm on his head as he had forgotten the Donnarumma to City deal hadn’t even been thought of yet.

"Uhmm... Yeah... I heard the club might be making a play for him. Don’t tell anyone I told you though."

" Of course I won’t. Wow City really going all out with the rebuild huh? Although I don’t know how much help that’ll be after seeing Chelsea put 3 past him like that yesterday."

Lukas chuckled, " Yeah it wasn’t his best game."

Lukas shook his head.

"Anyway... Bro, you’ll be fine. Bayern have probably got half the medical experts in Europe looking after you."

"True."

"So stop acting like your career is over."

"My foot is literally broken."

"Minor inconvenience."

Musiala stared at him for several seconds before bursting into laughter.

"You’re impossible."

"And yet here you are."

For a few moments they simply talked about random things. Training. Teammates. Summer plans. The kind of conversation that happened naturally between friends who had only just met recently, but had grown really close in such a short amount of time.

Eventually Musiala pointed at the camera.

"You better actually come visit me next week."

"I will."

"I’m serious."

"So am I."

"You footballers always say that."

Lukas pointed at his phone.

"Bro, you are one of those footballers."

"Exactly."

Lukas laughed.

"I’ll be there."

Musiala finally nodded.

"Good."

Then he glanced out of frame before looking back.

"Now go enjoy the Spanish sun without me."

"Trust me, I would’ve brought you if you hadn’t gone and broken your bloody foot."

Musiala immediately started laughing.

"Nice one."

"Sorry, sorry."

"No you’re not."

Lukas grinned.

"You’re right."

A few seconds later they exchanged goodbyes and ended the call.

Joanna looked over as Lukas slipped his phone into his pocket.

"How’s he doing?"

"He’ll be alright."

"He looked uncomfortable."

"He probably is," Lukas admitted. "But he’ll recover."

Before the conversation could continue, one of the flight attendants approached them with a professional smile.

"We’ve landed."

Lukas stood.

"Thank you."

Across the aisle, João remained completely asleep.

Lukas walked over and tapped him on the shoulder.

Nothing.

He tapped him harder.

João’s eyes snapped open.

"Huh?"

"We landed."

João blinked several times before looking around in confusion.

"Oh, come on."

"What?"

"I was having such a nice dream."

That immediately caught Lukas’ attention.

"Oh?"

João rubbed his face.

"There was this girl."

Joanna immediately started laughing. "Of course there was."

Lukas folded his arms.

"Bro."

"What?"

"We seriously need to get you a girlfriend."

João looked offended.

"Why?"

"Because you’re dreaming about random women on airplanes."

"So?"

"Do you even know who she was?"

João genuinely thought about the question.

After several seconds he shrugged.

"I don’t think so."
