Su Ping contemplates a challenging new skill that would allow him to influence reality through the Dream World. He explores two methods: influencing others' dreams or making others merge into his Pet Beast's dream. The latter is more difficult, requiring higher skill levels and posing a burden on the Pet Beast. Su Ping also discovers a skill called 'Dream Eater' that might help, but the main challenge remains linking dream damage to physical reality. Frustrated by the complexities, Qin Xiaoxue suggests they go shopping and watch a movie, opting for a horror film.

After all, behind the later wave of wuxia films stands the Refiners Association, this official organization that doesn’t really generate much buzz.

But today he was out with Miss Qin, so Su Ping naturally wouldn’t kill the mood. He nodded slightly:

"Sure."

Qin Xiaoxue let out a small breath of relief, and once again recalled the reminders from the two "strategists" at home.

You must watch a horror movie!

No matter how cheap the scares in a horror movie are, they can still make a girl dive into the other party’s arms!

The meaning of these trash horror movies still existing pretty much lies right there.

Precisely because of this, every year, those horror movies with no big production, no Advanced Pet Beast participating in the shoot, at most using some garbage tech and mechanical special effects, can still manage to survive.

And in fact, things went just as expected.

Su Ping, holding popcorn and milk tea, entered the theater named "The Eighth Sense" together with Qin Xiaoxue; most of the people going in were male‑female pairs.

And most of them were practically glued together.

There was even a pair that looked like the guy could be a whole generation older than Su Anyong; at a glance they clearly weren’t a proper married couple.

Not bothering to look a few more times, Su Ping slowly sat down. As the lights dimmed, he looked toward the big screen that was starting to light up.

Although he actually wasn’t interested in this kind of movie, he treated it as relaxing his mood.

On the dark screen, a hoarse voice sounded:

"In the ancient religion of the Elephant Kingdom, it is said that humans have eight senses: eye, ear, nose, tongue, body, mind, manas, and ālaya. The first five senses correspond to perception, taking external forms, sounds, scents, flavors, and touches as their objects.

The sixth consciousness corresponds to the perception and thought formed by the integration of those senses, taking the entire world as its object.

The seventh, manas, is the root of consciousness, often regarded as the ego consciousness of the self, the seed of the unconscious self.

The eighth, ālaya consciousness, is the spiritual Origin of all things in the world, it contains the ’seeds’ of all phenomena."

Su Ping’s brows lifted. From initially absent‑minded, he gradually became interested. Qin Xiaoxue beside him, however, was listening completely at a loss.

But what made Su Ping’s brows immediately furrow again was that the narration behind the screen suddenly shifted tone:

"And in the ancient sayings of the Dragon Country, people speak of the ’seven emotions and six desires,’ which are innate. Of these, the six desires lie within the first five senses.

The seven emotions are hidden within the sixth and seventh senses, and among human emotions, the strongest and most ancient source is fear..."

What kind of random crap is this?

Su Ping’s frown tightened even more.

This dumbass horror movie director is really trying to act all high‑brow?

Elephant Kingdom religion, Dragon Nation ancient legends, and then he goes and cooks up some kind of theory of fear.

Although ancient philosophical stuff is often more or less similar, what kind of bullshit is this?

How do the seven emotions and six desires even get tied to the Elephant Kingdom’s eight senses?

And why insist on pulling fear out as a separate "emotion"?

Of course, the reason was simple.

Just keep watching and you’d understand.

The movie really didn’t betray their expectations.

The plot was very simple.

They claimed that from the so‑called cosmic spiritual Origin, the human eighth sense "ālaya consciousness," a brand‑new type of Pet Beast was born!

That’s right, you heard correctly!

A completely new Pet Beast category, which this brain‑dead director presents as a Rule‑type Pet Beast.

The very first Rule‑type Pet Beast was awakened by human fear. It loves to savor the fear of Living Beings, so it becomes the Ultimate Evil Spirit, constantly torturing and killing others.

And only people with strong feelings of fear can sense its existence.

As for the male and female leads, one’s a coward, and the other is a "perfect partner" who can’t feel fear.

The story is just about this Pet Beast chase for the "Ultimate Fear Evil Spirit."

In the final ending, the emotionless one sacrifices themselves, and the coward who can’t feel fear ends up contracting this ridiculously overpowered "Rule"‑type Pet Beast in a tacky, cliché story.

The middle is stuffed full of Low Level horror bits using nothing but BGM and sudden head‑turn jump scares.

And they even tossed in an end‑credits scene.

It’s a segment where, from that human eighth sense, the spiritual Origin known as "ālaya consciousness," another incarnation of one of the seven emotions is born.

This kind of movie even wants to shoot a sequel?

Even Qin Xiaoxue couldn’t help wanting to complain.

After all, if she got scared by this kind of movie, Qin Xiaoxue worried it might lower her IQ in Su Ping’s eyes.

What she didn’t expect was that this movie, which Su Ping watched with great interest, didn’t just keep him entertained; even after it ended, he wasn’t in a hurry to leave. He sat in his seat as if he were thinking about something.

Qin Xiaoxue was indignant.

The strategists were unreliable!

If she’d known, she should’ve taken Su Ping to see that recently released documentary.

Only, at this moment, she clearly didn’t notice the strange light flashing in Su Ping’s eyes.

Because right then, Su Ping suddenly found something he could use to try perfecting his "Skill Module."

Watching the final black screen fall, Su Ping slowly chewed on the thing that ran through the entire movie’s theme:

"Fear?"
